Our team members have unique in-depth industry knowledge and experience enabling them to relate directly to contemporary industry issues, legislative requirements and resource sector best practice. With associates in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth the Astute Learning team supports operational performance, supervisory and leadership development of resource sector teams on sites across Australia. TIM CAMERON Tim is an Organisational Development consultant with over 25 years experience having held senior executive appointments in the Private, Public and Not For Profit sectors. Tim has worked in the resource sector and heavy industry in Project Engineering, Contract Management, Process Improvement and Operations roles as well as a Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of an ASX Listed public company. In addition to his broad operational experience, Tim is able to draw on both a Bachelor of Engineering and Masters of Engineering Science, along with a Masters of Business Administration and formal training qualifications. Tim is focused on the development of supervisory and leadership program frameworks and content that drive engagement, build capability and meet organisational requirements. LES CROFT Les specialises in organisational effectiveness, leadership development and health and safety system compliance. He has a broad operational background with Alcan, Rio Tinto and BHP in roles from Production Superintendent to Manager Training and Development. Les has delivered middle management development programs at a corporate level targeting 650 mid-level managers across the CRA / Rio Tinto group and worked in operations as diverse as Tomago Aluminium Smelter, Blue Scope Steels production facilities and BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance. Les has been engaged in the practical implementation of System Leadership and continues to practice in this area. Les holds qualifications in engineering, safety compliance and training and development. LOUISE COUTTS Louise has extensive operational experience at site level in the resources industry coupled with senior roles in a corporate office. Louise commenced her career as a Training Officer at Mount Isa Mines in 1991 prior to moving on to WMC Resources where she worked at Kambalda Nickel Operations, Hill 50 Gold in Mount Magnet, Queensland Fertilizers in Brisbane and the Perth office in a variety of senior HR roles. During periods where more flexibility was needed Louise has also worked on a contract basis for Argyle Diamonds, Western Power and Works Infrastructure. More recently, Louise has worked with BHP Billiton in a variety of roles including Human Resource Manager, Recruitment and Development Manager and Organisational Effectiveness Manager. Louise holds a Bachelor of Business (HRM) and a Graduate Diploma of Further Education and Training. PETER HORNE Peter places an emphasis on the practical application of line management skills from risk management, HSE management and team performance management to impact on organisation and individual performance. Peter has worked as Principal Advisor Capability Development within Rio Tinto and held roles in Organisational Development / Training & Development in a number of heavy industry organisations following operational roles in the Oil & Gas sector. Peter is a skilled facilitator of Systems Leadership workshops and holds qualifications in engineering, training and development and business administration (masters). PAUL SKEWES Initially completing his trade training through the Royal School of Military Engineering of the British Army, Paul has subsequently held operational roles from Front Line Management, Mid Level Management and Business Improvement applying Six Sigma methodologies. A change management and business improvement specialist, Paul s career to date has spanned direct operational supervision, recruitment and development, business improvement, training and in workplace coaching across the construction, resource and public sectors. Paul currently leverages his broad industry experience and passion for business improvement in his capacity as facilitator of leadership and safety compliance programs, and in workplace coach and mentoring of operational leaders. KERRY OSLING Prior to pursuing is passion for organisational development and change management Kerry worked within the aluminium smelting and mineral sands industries in a number of operational and technical leadership roles. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree with a Masters of Business Administration and has extensive experience in developing teams and culture to improve business performance. Kerry has actively lead change in safety, employment systems, costs, process capability, and plant expansion / commissioning. Kerry is an experienced Systems Leadership practitioner and has for many years facilitated experiential programs founded on the CRA Working Together program.

EFFECTIVE RESOURCES FOR LEARNERS AND FACILITATORS Astute Learning s experience is our most valuable asset, which we share as an integral part of our learning programs. The BHP Billiton Nickel West Supervisor Development Program developed by Astute Learning has entered its seventh successful year. BHP BILLITON NICKEL WEST SUPERVISOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM Astute Learning was engaged in 2006 to develop and deliver training programs to support an established Systems Leadership Program. Astute Learning developed a series of workshops for the BHP Billiton Nickel West Supervisor Development Program to be delivered across five sites including an underground mine, open cut mine, smelter, refinery and corporate head office. Astute Learning was also engaged to develop a change program to update and revitalise a flagging safety initiative, the Field Leadership Program. A series of online modules and companion activities were designed to be delivered on a rolling three month basis across all leaders in the business and successfully creating Field Leadership re-engagement. Elements of this change program were subsequently incorporated into the evolving Supervisor Development Program. Since engagement, Astute Learning has supported more than 700 leaders through this program involving a series of workshops and line management assessment, with exceptional feedback and continuing support for the program within the Nickel West business. ISSUE BHP Billiton Nickel West recognised that more targeted operation leadership development was necessary for Supervisors and Superintendents. SOLUTION Astute Learning developed a customised Supervisor Development Program, change program and field leadership program. RESULT BHP Billiton Nickel West has established a safety culture across Superintendent and Supervisor levels with 700 leaders trained in leadership skills. CASE STUDIES

ST BARBARA GOLD LTD SUPERVISOR ALIGNMENT PROGRAM A progressive mining organisation, St Barbara has adopted a Systems Leadership methodology to its core human resource processes, and has in place a Systems Leadership Development program for more senior leaders within the business. Astute Learning was engaged to develop a targeted Supervisor Alignment Program founded in Systems Leadership principles, illustrating concepts in an operational setting and suitable for both employees and contract partners Supervisors and Superintendents. St Barbara is investigating extending the established workshop series and accompanying operational models and instruments the program to take in its international operations. St Barbara adopts a progressive Systems Leadership Program to ensure cohesive and collaborative leadership from its own workforce and from contractor services. ISSUE St Barbara Gold identified a disparity in a range of operational models and work practices between its in-house and contractor operations. SOLUTION Astute Learning developed a bespoke training program and facilitated the engagement and roll-out across internal operational leaders and contracting partners. RESULT The training program involved participation by all parties with a shared operational vision between contractors and St Barbara as the operator. St Barbara is considering extending the training program to its international operations.
