Information The Information is responsible for end-to-end ownership and accountability for all information systems supporting the operational deliverables of the broader organisation. In particular this includes the development, maintenance, management and optimisation of TEC s ICT and information management systems and interfaces, including TEC s data and information warehouse. The performs data analysis and reports on sector-wide performance, delivers training and system support to staff, including the helpdesk function for the systems and applications deployed across TEC and oversees TEC s records management responsibilities. Business Information Data Warehouse The Data Warehouse Group is responsible for developing, maintaining and continually improving upon the quality and accessibility of data to the wider organisation. This includes an overlay of BI tools that will enable TEC staff to quickly access information that can be relied on for the generation of reports, analysis of trends and ministerial briefings. Position Purpose The role is focussed on running a team delivering information to business users. This is a highly client focussed role, with a very strong emphasis on establishing trusted relationships with business representatives and subject matter experts. The role ensures that business requirements are captured, understood and prioritised, and delivered to the satisfaction of the customer. The role is also responsible for embedding BI and DW good practice, and developing a BAU support knowledge base for on-going BAU use. Vendors, suppliers, consultants & contractors Sector stakeholders Key Accountabilities The appointee to this position will be expected to: Manage the team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring workflows are managed and members are coached to their full potential Monitor the quality of deliverables, manage risks to ensure stability and protection of supported environments, liaise with project teams impacting on the DW and BI to deploy new releases and accept project deliverables Guide and support customers of the DW and BI, collaborate with stakeholders on data governance issues Lead the development, maintenance and enhancement of BAU support artefacts for transition and BAU use Embed DW and BI best practice with the team, including appropriate processes and documentation are in place and adhered to Management of People and Performance Models behaviours and shares expertise to motivate others to develop their potential and maximise the contributions of individual staff in line with a strong organisational vision. Job Description and Scope of Duties The job holder is expected to perform such other duties as can reasonably be regarded as incidental to the job description, and such other duties reasonably within their experience and capabilities as may be from time to time assigned following consultation. Once appointed a programme of work will be developed with the appointee that will set out the specific tasks and time frames to achieve the key deliverables for this position. Person Specifications Required for Effective Performance in Position Qualifications and technical skills Degree in ICT, information management or related discipline Communication and interpersonal skills Negotiation skills, politically and organisationally savvy Exceptional project management skills Technical experience of at least one major database (preferably Microsoft stack) Experience and knowledge 5 or more years experience in ICT or IM management roles Experience working in highly-regulated environments In-depth knowledge of the tertiary education sector
