The Position Kent State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean and Chief Administrative Officer at the Stark campus. We are searching for a new Vice President for Kent State Systems Integration and this position will report to the new Vice President. The Dean and Chief Administrative Officer assumes responsibility and provides overall leadership and direction for all aspects of campus administration and operation. The new dean should be a dynamic leader who can work with the community and represent the Stark Campus as a full partner in the growth and development of the region. The Position The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in a relevant field; eight to nine years progressively responsible experience in program development, marketing, and budget, personnel; and experience as a faculty member; academic record sufficient to qualify for faculty appointment at senior ranks. The successful candidate will be someone who can develop new initiatives to enhance Kent State University Stark s goals of excellence in educating and developing undergraduate/graduate students for productive, creative, and reflective lives of achievement, leadership, and service in a diverse and interconnected world. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to create and maintain visibility of the campus in the greater Canton area and surrounding vicinity; Ability to drive and execute an agenda with speed and efficiency; Demonstrated ability to provide academic and administrative leadership and handle fiscal/budget management; Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic planning including development of degree offerings, facilities planning, and oversight of student life; Demonstrated general management skills required to manage a large staff; Demonstrated ability to provide leadership for the campus with respect to risk management, health, and safety; Demonstrated ability to use a systems approach to identify, define, analyze, and solve problems as they arise; Demonstrated ability to facilitate and foster relationships with alumni, business and industry, support workforce development, and training; Experience with community economic development and conducting fundraising activities; Demonstrated ability to provide considerable community leadership, including the ability to cultivate and coordinate close partnerships with area high schools to create opportunity for student recruitment; Page 5
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other local universities and colleges, other Kent campuses, and the campus advisory board; Demonstrated professionalism, good interpersonal and listening skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and respect for diversity; Ethical qualities of the highest standards; and A management style characterized by transparency and collaboration.
