First, download the 3 files found on this FTP site: ftp://ftp.meta.moleculardevices.com/outgoing/kudoh/ Also, download the files found here: ftp://ftp.meta.moleculardevices.com/support/wavetracer/ You will need a USB Thumb Drive with at least 2GB of space. The USB Thumb Drive should be empty as this process will erase all data on the drive. It would be helpful if you had a very large USB Thumb Drive (20GB or more) so you can store the.gho file and other downloaded files on it after following this process. Format the USB Thumb Drive for Ghost 1. Copy all the files downloaded to the Super Resolution computer's D:\ drive 2. Put the USB Thumb Drive into the computer 3. Run the program named rufus_v1.4.1.exe to format the drive to be able to run Ghost 4. In the Device field, select the USB Thumb Drive you want to format 5. Configure the rest of the options as shown 6. You can enter whatever name you want in the New volume label field 7. Press the disk icon next to ISO Images to bring up a file selector:
8. Select the Ghost for Kent.iso file you downloaded and press Open 9. Press the Start button on the main dialog to begin formatting the USB Thumb Drive for use with Ghost. 10. A warning is shown about losing data on the Thumb Drive. Press OK 11. Processing can take some time. Press the Close button when done. After this, the USB Thumb Drive should be formatted and ready to use for Ghost. If you open it up it should look like this:
If your Thumb Drive is 20GB or more, you can copy the.gho file (the Ghost image) and other drivers to the Thumb Drive. Otherwise, leave the Ghost image on the computer s D drive, as it will run fastest from there. You should be ready to use Ghost to re-image the computer. Running Ghost 1. Shut down the computer. 2. Insert the USB Thumb Drive previously formatted into a USB port on the back of the computer. The USB ports on the front may not work. 3. Boot the computer and press the F11 key while the screen shows the SuperMicro logo. You may have to press F11 multiple times. 4. Booting will continue to load the RAID drives and other hardware, but then will show a screen allowing you to select which disk to boot from. Choose the USB Thumb Drive you created. 5. This boots a special version of Windows, which may take some time to load.
6. When loading is complete, the Ghost program will appear. 7. Press OK to get to the main Ghost UI. 8. In the menu on the lower left side, choose Local > Partition > From Image. 9.
10. Navigate to and select the.gho file you downloaded above 11. Select the ~476000MB partition (the only one available) and press OK 12. Select the C:\ drive. This is the drive with the LSI model, and a size of about 476000MB 13. Make sure the C:\partition is selected (the other partition should be too small and not able to be selected) and press OK
14. Press Yes to start the imaginging 15. Image restoring may take 15 minutes or more Configuring Windows 1. When done, press the Reset Computer button and remove the USB Thumb Drive to reboot the computer
2. Windows will begin to boot up and configure the new OS. This may take some time. It will require rebooting the computer at least once. 3. Select the correct information for computer s locale 4. Enter a DUMMY user name. The username we will use for installing is MolDev (password moldev), but that name is already used so enter anything else. For example, I use MolDev2 (we will delete this user later).
5. Enter a password for this DUMMY user. 6. At some point you will need to enter the computer s product key. You can find this on a sticker on the computer hardware (probably on top of the computer near the handle to open the computer s case). Enter the code and press Next. 7. Accept the EULA and press Next
8. Select the Ask me later option for automatic updates. We do not want them on, so they do not run during the middle of an experiment. 9. Select the correct date and time settings. 10. You will then be logged in to the new DUMMY windows account you created. Log out, and log back in as MolDev (password moldev). 11. Go to the Control Panel, and the User Accounts control panel 12. Click the Manage another account link 13. Select the DUMMY Windows account you made during setup 14. Click the Delete the account link, and confirm all the questions you are asked. 15. Close the User Accounts control panel 16. In the main Control Panel, choose Windows Updates 17. Make sure you are connected to the internet and check for updates. You may have to change options to check for updates manually. 18. Install ALL UPDATES. This may take multiple passes to install all of them. Finishing Up After Windows updates, you then have a fresh, working Super Resolution system. MetaMorph will be installed, but will not be the latest version. After the Windows updates, do the following: 1) Update MetaMorph to the latest patch 2) Uninstall WaveTracer and install the newer version downloaded above 3) Import the Super Resolution.jzp journal Suite into the C:\MM folder 4) Copy the Custom.xml file into C:\MM\groups\MetaMorph 5) Copy the masterhwprofile.xml into C:\MM\hardware
6) Install any camera or other hardware drivers you need (Borealis and Diskovery drivers are in the download folder listed above). 7) Configure the hardware in MetaMorph NOTE if you copied the masterhwprofile.xml file appropriately, the Diskovery device will already be installed as an RS232 Illumination device. You will probably need to adjust the COM port the device is on.
