1 Transferring Scans from your Dolphin into Destiny Summary: This article is intended to provide Destiny users with an overview of the following tasks 1. Downloading the Dolphin Transfer Utility to their local workstation 2. Transferring files from their PHD to the local workstation 3. Uploading the data into Destiny Prerequisites: A PC running Windows 98SE, 2000, or XP Administrative access on the PC the Dolphin will be connected to Internet access and a web browser (IE 6 used in this document) Step 1: Download the Dolphin File Transfer Utility from the link below. (Note: Hold down the CTRL key and left click on the link) Dolphin File Transfer Utility Step 2: When prompted with the File Download window choose Save. Page 1 of 16

Step 13: When the utility is open look at the box on the right. Place your Dolphin in the Homebase and ensure the Homebase is properly connected to the PC.

If the status shows empty, then click on Configuration. Otherwise proceed to step 15. Step 14: Hit the dropdown menu beside port. If you are using a serial Homebase, the port will be either COM 1 or 2. If using a USB Homebase, the port will be either COM 3 or 4. Select the correct port and click OK. Page 9 of 16

Step 15: When the correct port is selected, you will see a Docked status. Step 16: When the Dolphin contains barcode scans and is inserted in the Homebase you should see a message that says.

You have a LOG file, do you wish to ship it out? (Press Y or N) Step 17: Press the 3 key for yes to ship the log file. Note: If nothing happens, press the SHIFT key followed by the 3 key. The Dolphin should now display a message that says... Set Dcomm to Receive a file Place In base Press Enter Press the Enter key on the Dolphin to begin the transfer. (Press Y or N) Step 17: Press the 3 key for yes to ship the log file. Note: If nothing happens, press the SHIFT key followed by the 3 key.

Step 20: When the transfer is complete, you will see the following message on the Dolphin.

11 Step 19: When the transfer between the Dolphin and the Homebase has begun you may see the following message. Note: We recommend that you select Create a backup copy. Note: Upon successful upload of scans, the data file from the Dolphin is cleared. Step 21: Upload data file into Destiny 1. Go to Back Office 2. Click on Inventory 3. Click on Browse Page 11 of 16

12 Step 22: Browse to data file. Note: This step assumes the Dolphin File Transfer is installed in the default location (C:\Program Files\ Dolphin File Transfer). 1. Select My Computer 2. Double left click Local Disk (C:) 3. Double left click Program Files 4. Double left click Dolphin File Transfer 5. Double left click xfer 6. Single left click scan.log 7. Your inventory file has been sent to the Job Manager and will be processed as soon as possible. You can continue with inventory and check the status of your file whenever you want. Page 15 of 16

Troubleshooting Homebase connection The first screenshot below indicates that there is an issue connecting the Dolphin with the Homebase. Click OK, then click the Configuration button.

Notice in the following screenshot that the USB port (COM 3) is grayed out. This indicates that the hardware is most likely not installed correctly. It is recommended that the Homebase be unplugged from the PC and then reboot the machine. After a reboot, plug in the USB cable and see if you are prompted with the New Hardware Wizard. If so, then follow the process of installing the Dolphin USB drivers. Otherwise, open the Dolphin File Transfer and see if the USB port is now available. Page 16 of 16
