1 Installing the Gerber P2C Plotter USB Driver 1 You can install a Gerber P2C plotter using a USB connection and communicate with it using compatible design software. The following procedures describe installing the USB drivers using the Windows New Hardware Wizard for Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 98 computers. You will need the Gerber P2C Driver Disk to complete the procedure. To install the Gerber P2C USB driver in Windows XP 1 Connect one end of the supplied USB cable into the USB port on the back of your Gerber P2C plotter and connect the other end to a USB port on your Windows XP computer. 2 Plug the Gerber P2C plotter into a power source and turn on the plotter. The Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard opens on your computer. 3 Insert the Gerber P2C Driver Disk that was included with your plotter into your CD-ROM drive and click Next >. The Please wait while the wizard installs the software message displays. 4 Upon completion of the USB driver installation the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box displays.

2 2 5 Click Finish to close the wizard. 6 Install the Gerber P2C plotter in your software according to the software manufacturer's instructions. If you are using Gerber OMEGA Software, follow the detailed instructions in Installing Gerber P2C Plotters on page 7. To install the Gerber P2C USB driver in Windows Connect one end of the supplied USB cable into the USB port on the back of your Gerber P2C plotter and connect the other end to a USB port on your Windows 2000 computer. 2 Plug the Gerber P2C plotter into a power source and turn on the plotter. The Found New Hardware Wizard opens on your computer. 3 Click Next > to display the Install Hardware Device Drivers dialog box. Choose the option: Display a list of known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver.

3 3 4 Click Next > to display the Locate Drivers Files dialog box. Turn on the CD-ROM option. 5 Insert the Gerber P2C Driver Disk that was included with your plotter in the CD-ROM drive of your computer. Click Next > to display the Driver Files Search Results dialog box with the Gerber P2C USB driver located on your CD drive. 6 Click Next > to install the USB driver. When installation is complete the following dialog box displays.

4 4 7 Click Finish to close the Found New Hardware Wizard. 8 Install the Gerber P2C plotter in your software according to the software manufacturer's instructions. If you are using Gerber OMEGA Software, follow the detailed instructions in Installing Gerber P2C Plotters on page 7. To install the Gerber P2C USB driver in Windows 98 1 Connect one end of the supplied USB cable into the USB port on the back of your Gerber P2C plotter and connect the other end to a USB port on your Windows 98 computer. 2 Plug the Gerber P2C plotter into a power source and turn on the plotter. The Add New Hardware Wizard opens on your computer. 3 Click Next > to display the following Add New Hardware dialog box. Choose the option: Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location so you can select the driver you want.

5 5 4 Click Next > to display the list of devices. Choose Other devices from the list. 5 Click Next > and the following dialog box displays. 6 Insert the Gerber P2C Driver Disk that was included with your plotter in the CD-ROM drive. Click the Have Disk button display the Open dialog box.

6 6 7 Navigate to the CD-ROM drive of your computer. The driver file P2CUSB.inf displays in the File Name window. Click OK and the following Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box displays with the P2C Gerber Cutter in the Models list box. 8 Click Next > to display the following dialog box which indicates that the wizard is ready to install the P2C Gerber Cutter driver. 9 Click Next > to install the driver from the Gerber P2C Driver Disk. The following dialog box displays. 10 Click Finish to close the Add New Hardware Wizard. 11 Install the Gerber P2C plotter in your software according to the software manufacturer's instructions. If you are using Gerber OMEGA Software, follow the detailed instructions in Installing Gerber P2C Plotters on page 7.

7 Installing Gerber P2C Plotters 7 If you are using OMEGA, you must have OMEGA 2.02 Service Pack 3 or higher loaded on your computer to install or communicate to a Gerber P2C Plotter. OMEGA 2.02 SP3 also supports USB connection for Gerber P2C Plotters. In this procedure you will verify your OMEGA version and install a Gerber P2C plotter in OMEGA via the USB or serial port. To install a Gerber P2C Plotter 1 EnsurethatOMEGA2.02ServicePack3orhigherisinstalledonyourcomputer. Right click the GSPTray icon on the right side of the task bar and choose About Gerber System Tray. 2 Make note of the RBase value which must be or higher. If not, install OMEGA 2.02 Update Release and then the OMEGA Service Pack 3 before continuing with this procedure. OMEGA 2.02 and OMEGA SP3 are available from Gerber Technical Support (860) or from the Gerber web site at: 3 Click OK to close the About Gerber Tray dialog box. 4 Connect the Gerber P2C to your computer using the supplied USB or serial cable. 5 Right click the GSPTray icon located on the right end of the task bar and choose Install Plotter/Router to open the Add or Delete Plotter/Router(s) dialog box.

8 6 Choose a Gerber P2C plotter from the Available Plotter/Router(s) on local system list. 7 In the Local Port box, click USB or an available COM port (depending on which type of cable you used to connect the plotter). 8 Click Add to display the Add - Name Device dialog box. 8 9 Either accept the default name or enter a new name for the plotter in the Device Name box. This description displays in the output dialog boxes of OMEGA. 10 Click OK to return to the Add/Delete Plotter/router dialog box with the Gerber P2C plotter shown in the Installed Plotter/Router(s) box. 11 Select the Gerber P2C plotter from the installed list. Preference to automatically choose this plotter when outputting jobs from OMEGA. 12 Click Close if you are finished installing plotters. Copyright 2004 Gerber Scientific International.
