1 Applies to: F1PG200ENau Belkin Analogue Telephone Adapter (ATA) Firmware release notes 1. Voice over IP registration indicator and error codes 2. Error 482 loop detected fixed. This error is caused if the modem loses DSL sync and the ATA will then try to connect to the next available SIP server, obviously connection will fail as there is no DSL sync. Once the DSL becomes active again the ATA no longer sits waiting for user intervention to re-connect and the ATA will gauge DSL sync and re-establish connectivity to the SIP server OOB signalling default is set to info (RFC 2976) for support for touch tone menu options. Introduction From time to time Belkin releases new firmware which has enhancements or fixes to the previous releases of firmware. Firmware resides on the networking product in question and acts similar to an operating system on a computer. This guide will explain the changes to the latest release of firmware for the ATA and will also explain how to perform an upgrade in step by step format.

2 Before you begin: You will need: Belkin ATA VoIP unit Power cable Network cable PC with network card Discovery tool this was included on the supplied CDROM if you do not have this software please download from the following link: ang=1&mode= Firmware for the ATA which you need to download and save on to your hard drive, remember where you saved this firmware as you will need it shortly. Please download this firmware from ang=1&mode= Hardware check: Your computer is switched on and connected to your router or modem The VoIP unit is switched on and connected to your router or modem Network cable connected from PC to router and the ATA is connected to the router as per the following diagram. You can surf the web 1) Open and run the ATA Discovery Tool (located on CD provided with ATA, or download from ang=1&mode= run the software or insert the CDROM and after a few moments the software will run and find any attached ATA devices. 2) The Discovery Tool will find the ATA, highlight the listing then click Open

3 3) The Login page will appear. Type in your current password (or the default password of admin) then click LOGIN 4) On the left hand side of the screen click Advanced Setup 5) You will now be presented with more options in the menu on the left. Click Utilities then choose Firmware Update 6) Click the browse button, located in the centre of the screen 7) You will now be asked to browse for the file you downloaded earlier. Browse to this file and click Open 8) Click Update, two warnings will now appear, click OK on each warning.

4 NB Progress bar will indicate the progress at the bottom of the screen in percentage. 9) Once the Firmware Update process has completed, you will need to restart the ATA by clicking the Restart ATA button When the prompt asks you to restart please click yes. The ATA will restart and take you back to the Login page. You can now Login to the ATA again by typing in your password and you can confirm the Firmware Version which will be shown in the top left of the screen.

5 Finally you will need to perform a factory reset of your ATA so you can continue using the ATA with the newer firmware. Before conducting a factory reset ensure that you have your VoIP phone number and password handy write this information below to assist you later: VoIP phone number VoIP Password To perform a factory reset follow these steps: 1. If you are already not logged in to your ATA then log in to the ATA using the method described in steps 1-3 above 2. Click on advanced set up. 3. Under utilities\restore factory defaults, click on restore factory defaults. 4. Click restore defaults 5. Click OK, click OK again 6. Click restart ATA 7. Click OK the router will now take a number of seconds to reboot. 8. Once the router has restarted type in your password again and log in to the ATA.

6 9. Click on set up wizard in the top left of the screen below the iinet logo. 10. Place a tick in the box for VoIP Account 1 or 2 and enter your VoIP Phone number (with no spaces) and VoIP password. On the back of the physical ATA unit you will see two ports for the telephone cord, ensure that you have physically connected the telephone in the corresponding physical Line 1 or Line 2 port in the back of the ATA unit. 11. Select the state in Australia that you are residing in from the drop down menu next to the state option. 12. Ensure you have the correct details entered with no spaces and then click on the apply changes button. 13. Click on the restart ATA button 14. Click OK the ATA will restart and take approximately 14 seconds. 15. You should notice the lights on the front of the ATA will illuminate you should see the following lights: a) Power - b) Connected c) and either phone line 1 or 2 illuminated. Troubleshooting If, after completing the above steps you do not see either phone line 1 or 2 illuminated please ensure that you are connected to the internet by trying to surf the web. If you are confident you are connected to the internet then please ensure that you have entered your VoIP phone number and password correctly (step 10 through to 14 above). If after checking these two issues you still see no line 1 or 2 illumination then please turn off the ATA and wait for 1 hour before turning the ATA back on if after a few minutes the ATA Line 1 or 2 light does not illuminate please contact Belkin technical support on
