What can Language Intelligence do for you? Timing is critical. We understand that once the source survey is developed there is usually little time remaining for localization, especially if a simultaneous launch across all regions is desired. The earlier you involve us in your survey life cycle, the easier it will be to meet your international field dates. Your Survey Project: What is your project timeline? Which languages are required? What is the subject matter? What is your target demographic? Are there any applicable references available (e.g. glossary, translation memory, boilerplate text)? What technology are you using? Which survey platform do you usein what format will we receive your survey for translation? Will there be an in-country linguistic review? Do you require online validation? Are there Open Ends and Other/Specify questions? If so, do you require translation or coding of responses? Moving Forward: What improvements would you like to make to your current content development process? What improvements would you like to make to your current localization process? How is your boilerplate content stored and managed? How often do you need translation? How does translation/localization fit into your current survey life cycle? Would you like to explore new technologies? 1

Services: Tailored to the Market Research Industry Language Intelligence has provided localization services for companies in the Market Research industry for over a decade. During this time, we have developed highly specialized services to meet your industry s unique needs. LOCALIZATION ASSESSMENT AND AWARENESS We review your source survey in order to identify any potential localization challenges. Your survey questions are carefully crafted so that your panels will understand them and answer meaningfully. However, there may be some hidden cultural complications within some questions. Will they be understood once translated? Are any cultural assumptions implied that do not apply to your target regions? Is there colloquial or idiomatic language used that will be difficult to convey in other languages? We address these questions before and during translation so that your company will not lose precious time after your survey is in field. TRANSLATION ACCURACY Translators must prove a comprehensive set of credentials in order to be selected to work with our market research clients. Besides having excellent language and writing skills, they understand market research methods and will properly convey the meaning of your questions to the target audience. What s more, they are experts in the survey s subject matter and how it relates to the target demographic. Tone, style, survey method (online, CATI, paper), endclient s industry, and target audience are all considered with great care so that the translations we provide will yield the results you seek from your survey participants. TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY Whatever your survey platform, we integrate our technology with yours in order to effectively streamline the localization process. We have developed tools that allow us to work with your survey content in virtually any format. These tools allow us to provide you with localized versions of your survey, in the format you require. Additionally, we build, update and maintain a translation memory of your content for future use. Maximizing use of translation memory technology when creating localized versions of your surveys ensures consistency, reduced cost, and accelerated time-to-field. OPEN ENDS AND OTHER/SPECIFY QUESTIONS Do your participants responses need to be translated or coded? We can provide these services on a rolling basis or after all quotas have been met. Either way, we apply methods which are significantly more cost effective and faster than traditional methods while still working with human translators. The advantage is that only human translators can properly translate and categorize the nuances and true meaning within a respondent s answer. The benefit is that you are provided with accurate data so you can report feedback to your client with confidence. 3
Services (cont.) IN-LANGUAGE CODING We can provide coding services for your OE and OS responses in-language so that you do not need to spend time and money on response translation. Whether your responses are captured in MS Excel or in an online tool, our linguists will code in their native languages for optimal accuracy and speed. We can use a pre-existing code book or create one for you. XML AND CONTENT MANAGEMENT Are your surveys authored in XML? Or, does your survey platform support an XML structure? We have developed technology that allows us to convert your content into a translation-friendly format while protecting your XML structure. Not using XML yet? We can help your team migrate to an XML-based platform. The benefits: easier transition from source to localized survey and seamless importing into your survey publishing tools. Imagine not having to overlay translations or copy and paste. That s time that is much better spent elsewhere! INTERNATIONALIZATION CONSULTING We connect with your research teams to review concepts and various survey outputs used to reach out to your international audience. Next, we work with you during content development to ensure that your words are prepared for localization as they are being written. The benefit of this process is accelerated time-to-field; we help you advance rapidly from source survey to accurately localized versions. IN-COUNTRY REVIEW Does your client require an in-country review of the translated survey before it can be launched? If so, it is critical that feedback can be captured quickly and accurately. Reviewers need to be able to access the localized survey and make changes easily. Then, those changes need to be implemented into the final survey and the translation memory. We have developed an innovative solution to managing the in-country review process and capturing feedback. Our system, Intellireview, allows reviewers to access translated content through their browsers, from anywhere in the world. 4
intellireview TM Intellireview reduces the time, cost, and effort necessary for conducting a successful translation review. Every reviewer prefers to work in a familiar format. The challenge is determining the best method when a translator must later implement changes and update the translation memory. Aside from this duplication of effort, other common linguistic review challenges are: File transfer Version control Streamlining feedback Accessing the source content during review Communication between reviewers and linguists intellireview solves all of these. The intellireview system displays your survey in a client-friendly format including complex graphics and tables. Through an easy-to-use interface, intellireview features: Web-based access; no software to download An editable version of the translated content A view pane displaying the original source text A comment field for easy communication among project members A direct link to the translation memory for automated updating Review translated content in a familiar format and context Access translated files through your browser. Anywhere. Anytime. Unique features allow for easy collaboration between team members 5
