Who could you reach via My Health Career? My Health Career is a website that was initially intended to be an online resource for Australian high school students considering a career in health. Since its launch in September 2012, My Health Career has stuck a chord with high school students, health students, health professionals, career development practitioners, school guidance counsellors, and school careers advisors who want quality, reliable information about what s REALLY happening today in health in Australia. Who is behind My Health Career? My Health Career was dreamt up by Queensland optometrist Amanda Griffiths, after herself having difficulty in choosing a path following high school. After being an optometrist for a few years, she saw that the next generation were coming into university courses in health just as clueless as she had been!! While continuing to develop the website, Amanda works as an optometrist part-time in a well-established practice in Brisbane s inner-west, and on a locum basis on the Gold Coast for 2002 Optometrists Association Australia Queensland/Northern Territory Optometrist of the Year Michael Hare. Amanda has personally interviewed over 30 health professionals for the video content on the site, and ensures that she keeps up to date with current issues in the industry. Since launching My Health Career, Amanda has been an invited speaker for the Career Development Association Australia (CDAA), the Queensland Government s Department of Education, Training and Employment, the Partnership Brokers, The Allied (health) Network, and some of Queensland s most prestigious schools. My Health Career has credibility in both the health & careers industries. 2

Tips for getting the best exposure with your sponsored post! My Health Career has blurred the lines with the content it produces. between providing traditional high-quality information for current and future health professionals versus blog style articles. These posts are to provide useful information for our followers advertorials will not be accepted, for example, 10 things to consider before choosing a dietetics degree is acceptable, but 10 reasons why the dietetics course at University XYZ is the best will not be accepted. Universities/RTOs are able to have one or some of their students put together a series of posts covering the various concepts they are learning about during their degree/course that they find interesting; for example students can create video blogs or articles where they talk about what the experiences they gained on their practical placements - and details of events they have attended such as exchange trips or other activities they have been involved in things that would make your course appealing to prospective students My Health Career may accept a series of sponsored posts in the same category (e.g. dietetics) from the same organisation, or may accept a number of posts across different categories if you have courses in nursing, pharmacy and psychology for example. My Health Career does not have a team to write the post for you, but we can guide you along the way - to simplify things as much as possible, we have created a checklist for you, which is on the following page. Here is a link to an excel file which contains a detailed analysis of posts that have been popular on My Health Career previously, which will help to guide you in your choice of topic. 8
