Work may take place in a range of contexts such as community based organisations, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services. This qualification: Defines the knowledge and skills for support workers and care workers who work autonomously under the broad guidance of other practitioners and professionals in the community services and health sectors Refers to specific knowledge of a client with alcohol and other drugs issues and to appropriate intervention processes applied in residential and community settings. HLTIN301C Comply with infection control policies and procedures CHCMH411A Work with people with mental health issues The importance of culturally aware and respectful practice All workers undertaking alcohol and other drugs work need foundation knowledge to inform their work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients and co-workers and with clients and co-workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This foundation must be provided and assessed as part of a holistic approach to delivery and assessment of this qualification. Specific guidelines for assessment of this aspect of competency are provided in the Assessment Guidelines for the Community Services Training Package.
