This nationally recognised qualification addresses work in roles that usually involve service delivery, either direct client work and/or community education or development projects. Typically at this level, people at will operate at an advanced level and may have responsibility for the supervision of other staff and volunteers. Areas of work include child protection, family services, youth, case work, juvenile justice, women s issues and community work. 3 Entry requirements It is highly recommended that students are currently in a workplace or have access to a workplace for this course as it incorporates a minimum of 400 hours of job field placement. To gain entry to this qualification, candidates must: 1. Be recognised as competent, through a registered training program or recognition process against the following core units of competency from CHC40708 Certificate IV in Community Services Work: CHCCS411A Work effectively in the community sector HLTHIR403B Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers OR; 2. Have sufficient relevant experience and knowledge of community work and or community services to indicate likely success at this level of qualification in a job role involving: The application of knowledge with depth in some areas and demonstration of a broad range of technical and other skills A wide range of tasks and roles in a variety of contexts, with complexity in the range and choices of actions required and including work with culturally diverse clients and co-workers Course completion Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification CHC50608 Diploma of Community Services Work issued by the Australian National Institute of Business and Technology Pty Ltd (ANIBT). The Pty Ltd is a Registered Training Organisation (Provider number: 21368) registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). Workplace based experience Compulsory industry work based placement of 400 hours is required to be undertaken to successfully complete this course. A practical placement is structured workplace learning that helps prepare you for the workforce. It is a mandatory part of your course and it is designed to help you better understand what you have learned by putting it into practice in the workplace for a specific period of time. As a student, participation in practical placement will give you the opportunity to: apply knowledge and skills learned from your course in the workplace; gain skills that are recognised by industry; get to know employers expectations; increase your employment options and employability skills; and make contact with employers. ANIBT has a practical placement coordinator who will assist you with finding placements and match you to a host employer. However, some students may find their own placements.
