5 What is the goal? To steadily increase the diversity of the teacher workforce in MMSD over time by investing in our local community Provide local future teachers with the training and tools necessary to make an impact in our community
6 What does T.E.E.M. Scholars provide? T.E.E.M. Scholars receive comprehensive support for college and career readiness through: Academics (tutoring, education related course work), Social Connections (cohort) Financial Assistance (possible tuition scholarships) Professional Training (urban teacher preparation)

Scholars Program Goals High School College Career Pre-college programming with PEOPLE 10 th Grade Exploring critical issues in education & conduct action research project 11 th Grade Learn about effective teaching and connect with UW faculty and MMSD master teachers 12 th Grade Internship in MMSD College application support Bridge to College Summer PEOPLE seven-week bridge-to-college program Earn college credit and orientation to the university Years 1-2 Specialized support and education related group activities SOE Application support SOE Years 3+ (If admitted to UW-Madison School of Education) Learning and engaging in best teaching practices 8 New Hire Commit 2 years to MMSD New Teacher Orientation Mentor & Monthly Professional Development School Based Support Year 1-2 Participate in New Teacher Induction Program Work with mentor Years 3+ Develop Professional Learning Plan based on learning needs of your students! MMSD and UW-Madison School of Education are committed to raising scholarship funds. PEOPLE is Pre-College programming. THESE STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PEOPLE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP.
9 Commitment Participate in pre-college programming during the summer and academic year until college entrance Successfully complete both PEOPLE & T.E.E.M. Scholar requirements to be able to apply for scholarship opportunities In college, continue through teacher preparation programming
10 Who can participate? Current MMSD 9 th graders from diverse backgrounds 2.75 core cumulative GPA (minimum) Recalculated to include core subjects only: English, math, science, social studies, and world languages Desire to become a teacher!
11 Program Dates Summer 2015: PEOPLE Residential Program June 21-July 11, 2015 T.E.E.M. Scholars Educator Institute August 3-21, 2015, 9am-12pm session

Forms here or online at FORWARD-Madison.org/TEEM.html Submit Application and required materials: 3 page application Can submit short essay questions online at mmsd.org/teemapply Copy of transcripts (Available from School Guidance office) DPI form (in packet, only needed if currently receiving lunch assistance) Teacher recommendation form (in packet) Application deadline APRIL 15, 2015 Submit to your High School Main office Or mail to FORWARD Madison T.E.E.M.
