1 COLLEGE SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS CENTRAL MICHIGAN: New Academic awards for * We ask that you APPLY EARLY. Scholarship funds for the Academic Prestige, Academic Excellence, and Academic Success Awards are limited and the awarding process is competitive. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a student will receive a scholarship. The best way to improve your candidacy is to submit all admission application materials as soon as possible. EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY: Education First Opportunity Scholarship (EFOS) provides full-tuition for applicants that meet criteria; GPA of 3.0 or better, minimum ACT score of 20, eligible for any federal Pell Grant award; must complete FAFSA by March 1, 2016; no separate application necessary. EMU Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship; awarded to children and grandchildren of EMU alumni; $1250 renewable for four years; must have GPA of 3.2 or higher; must submit application, resume, written letter of recommendation, an essay (500 words or less) describing what it means to you to be an EMU legacy. FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY: GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY: htm There is a wide variety of merit-based awards for incoming freshman and first time Grand Valley students. Most require high academic achievement and are automatically awarded to applicants based on information provided in the student's admission application. To be considered for these scholarships, the Admissions Office must receive your completed application and all supporting documents by December 31 for fall admission. LAWRENCE TECH: Scholarship Competition: Submit a 500 word essay by February 1 st and attend the competition on February 20, 2016; may qualify for up to $4000 per year for four years. LAKE SUPERIOR STATE UNIVERSITY: Eligibility is automatically evaluated by the Financial Aid Office for all students admitted by May 1st for the following academic year. All recipients in this section are selected by the Financial Aid Committee and may choose any degree curriculum offered by the University. Students must be citizens of the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
2 Scholarships are awarded based on a point scale that is approved annually by the Financial Aid Committee. Fifty percent weight is given to the overall high school GPA and 50 percent is based on the highest ACT composite score received by May 1st. All renewable scholarships are based on the recipient meeting the University s scholarship renewal criteria. Laker Gold Scholarship Value: Full tuition up to 17 credits per semester, inclusive of other LSSU awards, renewable. Up to three scholarships will be awarded each year through the Laker Gold Competition. Criteria: must meet Board of Trustees Distinguished Scholarship criteria, must have applied for admission no later than December 1st of senior year of high school, must be invited to attend annual competition and respond by invitation due date. Board of Trustees Distinguished Scholarship Value: up to $8000 per year ($ $3000 if Room & Board) renewable Criteria: merit based; minimum points 185 (example: 3.80 GPA and 28 ACT) Board of Trustees Academic Excellence Scholarship Value: up to $5000 per year ($ $2000 if Room & Board) renewable Criteria: merit based; points (example: 3.50 GPA and 24 ACT) Board of Trustees Academic Recognition Scholarship Value: up to $3000 per year ($ $1000 if Room & Board) renewable Criteria: merit based; points (example: 3.30 GPA and 21 ACT) Note: The Board of Trustee Scholarships are determined by a total point value that is based on your GPA andact/sat score, but a minimum GPA of 3.0 and ACT of 19 is required to be considered. MACOMB COMMUNITY COLLEGE: We offer a variety of college scholarships funded by private donors. Scholarships are available to assist with tuition, fees, books and other educational expenses. Scholarships are based on the academic year and are available to all Macomb Community College students who meet the criteria, which vary with each scholarship. Use our Online Automated Scholarship Information System OASIS to find out more about each Private Scholarship. Once you've enrolled at Macomb, you'll be able to apply for scholarship opportunities. MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY:
3 Students who apply for admission by November 1 of their senior year in high school will receive maximum scholarship consideration. Funding is limited, and awards cannot be guaranteed for students who apply for admission after November 1. Scholarship notifications are mailed separately from admission packets between November and May. MICHIGAN TECH UNIVERSITY; At Michigan Tech the scholarship application process is easy. In fact, all admitted students are automatically considered for most merit-based scholarships a special application form is not required except for the Michigan Tech Leading Scholar Award. Priority consideration for financial aid and scholarships is given to students who are accepted by January 15. Many scholarships are renewable provided you meet the criteria. Need-based scholarships require you to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For more information, contact the Financial Aid Office at or finaid@mtu.edu NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY: Alumni Legacy Scholarship: provides $1000 renewable yearly, applicants must be a child or grandchild of a NMU graduate, complete the Alumni Legacy Certification form by deadline, complete a Personal Statement addressed the following; explained your extracurricular involvement in the last three year, describe your parent or grandparents best memory of their NMU experience, why did you choose to attend NMU. NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY: Betsy and Dick DeVos Scholars for Free-Enterprise & Entrepreneurship provides $5,000- $10,000 renewable for four years for full-time BBA and four year BBA/MBA students; must submit scholarship application and essay describing you entrepreneurship activity by February 2016, finalists are required to visit the Michigan campus in late winter 2016 to participate in a competitive presentation Business Club Scholarship: for members of BPA, DECA, FBLA, FCCLA-PBL, and JA; awards ranging from $1000,$5,000 renewable for four years, applicants must be involved in a business club during their senior year of high school; special consideration given to officers and state winners. Freshmen Merit Scholarships - Domestic Freshman Award levels: Presidential Scholarship - $11,000 (with on-campus residency; $9,000 without Freedom Scholarship- $10,000 (with on-campus residency; $8,000 without campus residency) Free Enterprise Scholarship - $8,000 (with on-campus residency; $6,000 without Entrepreneur Scholarship - $6,000 (with on-campus residency; $4,000 without Liberty Scholarship - $3,000 (with on-campus residency; $1,000 without campus residency)
4 OAKLAND UNIVERSITY: To be considered for scholarships, Oakland University must receive your application, transcript and ACT or SAT score by March 1 (for fall freshmen). If you meet this deadline, you will automatically be considered for OU scholarships. You should apply for admission during your senior year of high school, and submit your transcript and test score when your academic record reflects the strongest grades. Awards are based on your academic record, including GPA and ACT score, at the time of admission. International students are not eligible for scholarships, except where reflected. -Legacy Award: $12,000 for four years ($3,000 per year) applicants must have a GPA of 3.4 and a composite ACT score of 23 or higher and have a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt or uncle who received a degree from OU. Scholarships are a type of financial aid that does not have to be repaid. To be considered for an Academic, SVSU Private or the SV Red & White Award, students must be admitted to the university and completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. For those also applying for a SVSU Private scholarship, they must also complete the Scholarship Application. WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY; You are eligible to be considered for a freshman award if you meet one of the following criteria: You are a current senior in high school who will enter college after graduation. You are a high school graduate who has not yet earned credit at a community college, college or university. You are a GED holder who has not yet earned credit at a community college, college or university. Students who submit updated ACT/SAT scores will be considered for upgraded scholarship opportunities as long as funds are available. Wayne State University students can receive only one of the following merit scholarships - University, Presidential, Distinguished, Wade McCree, Gold, Green, Academic Achievement, Anthony Wayne, Detroit Urban Scholars, Athletic Excellence, Math Corps, Detroit Compact or Presidential Music scholarships. WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY: Medallion Scholarship- Value: $15,000 annually ($60,000 total award) 3.7+ cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale at end of junior year
5 26+ ACT composite or SAT of (math + critical reading) Eligible students participate in one of two Medallion competition days on Jan. 23 or Jan. 30, 2016 For first-time, full-time freshman students entering fall 2016 Complete admissions application must be received by Dec. 4, Deans Scholarship- Value: $3,000 for one year 3.7+ cumulative GPA on a 4-point scale at end of junior year 26+ ACT composite or SAT of (math + critical reading) Eligible students participate in one of two Medallion competition days on Jan. 23 or Jan. 30, 2016 For first-time, full-time freshman students entering fall 2016 Complete admissions application must be received by Dec. 4, Multicultural Leader Scholarship- Value: $4,000 annually ($16,000 total award) 3.0+ GPA on a 4-point scale at end of junior year Admissible to WMU For first-time, full-time freshman entering fall 2016 Completed admissions application file (application, high school transcript, ACT/SAT scores, and application fee/waiver) must be received by Dec. 4, Students will be asked to submit a one page essay or a two minute video, as well as a student biography form, by Dec. 18, Selected semi-finalist students must attend the Multicultural Leader Scholarship Celebration on Feb. 20, students will be selected to receive the $16,000 Multicultural Leader Scholarship. All other invited students who attend the celebration will receive the $1,000 Diversity Scholarship for the academic year. First generation college students and students demonstrating financial need are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.
