1 The Travelers EDGE scholarship award is made possible through the generosity of The Travelers Companies and is aimed at preparing students for careers in the insurance and financial services industry. Travelers has a wide variety of career options (see majors listed below). Approximately five (5) awards of $6,000 each will be distributed. Awards are generally split evenly between fall and spring semesters. In addition to the financial assistance for tuition, Travelers EDGE Scholars receive individualized support from Pathways Program staff, a mentor from Travelers, and many opportunities to grow professionally. Application Procedure Please complete all sections of this application. When completed, print all pages then sign pages four and five. Interviews are generally conducted in July. Scholarship Recipients Responsibilities Requirements to Keep Scholarship There are many benefits to being a Travelers EDGE Scholar. It is important that the scholars at Metropolitan State University take full advantage of the services and opportunities available to them. As a Travelers EDGE Scholarship recipient you will be required to: 1. Attend the EDGE Scholar orientation session at the beginning of fall semester 2. Meet for individual check-ins with the Pathways Program Career Specialist a minimum of three times each semester (before scholarship disbursement, at midterm, and before finals) 3. Complete career development assignments scholars will be provided a syllabus 4. Participate in Travelers EDGE sponsored programs/events including the Travelers EDGE Mentorship Program 5. Maintain a minimum GPA of Travelers EDGE Scholars are strongly encouraged to attend a scholarship celebration event in the fall Travelers EDGE Scholarship Application 1

2 Eligibility To be eligible for consideration for a Travelers EDGE Scholarship award, applicants must be interested in pursuing a career in the insurance and financial services industry and have a declared major* in one of the following academic areas: Undergraduate Majors Accounting Applied Mathematics Business Administration Computer Application Development Computer Forensics Computer Information Technology Computer Science Economics Finance Human Resource Management Individualized Studies (with a focus in Business, Communications, Management, Math, Finance, or HR) Information Assurance Industrial Management International Business International Commerce Management Management Information Systems Marketing Organizational Administration Professional Communication Technical Communication & Professional Writing *Declared major will be verified from your student record. Please be sure this information is up-to-date. Pre-business majors will also be considered. In addition, applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Be officially admitted to Metropolitan State University 2. Be an undergraduate student in good academic standing 3. Be registered for a minimum of 6 credits (undergraduate) for the semester(s) in which the funds are applied 4. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.** 5. Submit a completed Student Certification and Consent form (page 5 of this application) 6. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of Complete financial aid application packet and submit to Financial Aid Office before scholarship application deadline date **Travelers EDGE Scholars may be eligible for a Travelers internship subject to available internship opportunities and adherence to Travelers employment criteria. Once you ve registered, you can schedule, modify, and cancel your appointments. All appointments (face-to-face, telephone, and etutorials) are scheduled through the online system. Be sure the requirements for the scholarship(s) you are applying for are handy when you work with them. Call if you have questions or difficulties with the online scheduling. 5 Student Certification and Consent Please read, sign, and date the following: I,, hereby authorize Metropolitan State University to release my educational records (GPA, year in school, major, minor), information obtained by the Financial Aid Office for use in calculating financial need (FAFSA and effective family contribution calculations), and demographic information (name, address, contact information) to the Metropolitan State University Foundation (MSUF), 700 East Seventh Street, Saint Paul, MN or its designee. With the exception of scholarship criteria requirements as specified on each scholarship application, this information will not be used in the determination of scholarship awards, but may be requested by scholarship donors. If I am a recipient of an MSUF scholarship, MSUF has the right to provide information contained within my application to donors. Award information may be used for marketing and promoting of the MSUF scholarship program.
