1 HCHS Student ipad User Agreement Schl ipad Initiative Hancck Cunty High Schl has initiated a 1:1 ipad prgram fr students and teachers in an effrt t embrace 21st Century Skills. Students will be using ipads in the classrms, and, after reading and returning the required agreement, they will be allwed t take their designated ipad hme t cntinue schl wrk. ipad use will be mnitred by building level administratin as well as district level administratin t gauge use and effectiveness f the device in the classrm. ipads are schl district wned devices and the cntents n the ipad can be viewed at any time. Students are expected t have their ipad with them and a battery life that will get them thrugh the entire day f schl withut needing t charge. Gals fr Student Users Ø T prepare students fr a 21st Century envirnment. Ø T increase prductivity and engagement f all learners. Ø T make student-centered learning a pririty. Ø T increase cllabratin, creativity, critical thinking and cmmunicatin in ur students. Guidelines Student use f the ipad falls under the district Acceptable Use Plicy fr technlgy. Internet and ipad use will be mnitred thrugh district level management sftware. Anyne fund t be vilating acceptable use will be disciplined. All sftware, applicatins, and dcuments stred n the ipad are the prperty f the schl district and subject t review and mnitring. Students shuld NOT: Mdify the ipad in any way ther than instructed by the administratr r ther schl persnnel. Apply marks, stickers, r ther decratin t supplied ipad cver UNLESS he/she is willing t pay replacement cst f the cver when he/she leaves Hancck Cunty High Schl. Exchange ipads with any ther student. Remve the supplied cver frm the ipad. Synch the ipad with any cmputer. Clear r disable brwsing histry n the device. Disable the ipad r its applicatins n the ipad assigned t them OR anyne else s ipad Failure t cmply with these guidelines will be treated as a vilatin f the district acceptable use plicy and will be handled accrding t the schl s discipline cde. Using the ipad Clean the screen with apprved sft, lint-free cleaning twels. D nt use any spray cleaners r liquids. If a stylus is used (ptinal), it MUST be capacitive (the ipad 2 Stylus) purchased by the student. Make sure hands are clean befre using ipad. Keep ipad away frm fd and drink. Charge the ipad nly with the included charger and using a standard wall utlet fr yur pwer surce. Have the ipad fully charged and ready fr use during the schl day. Dcument any sftware/hardware issues t yur LEAD Teacher r Teacher as sn as pssible. Keep the ipad in a well prtected temperature cntrlled envirnment when nt in use. D nt leave the ipad in a vehicle r lcatin that is nt temperature cntrlled. During class time, students are expected t keep Ntificatins Disabled fr the purpse f nt being a cnstant distractin fr the student r fr thers.

2 Applicatins (Apps) Student ipads will be given t students with key applicatins already installed. Applicatins shuld nt be installed r uninstalled by the student. It is the respnsibility f the Hancck Cunty Schl District t install and uninstall all applicatins. If there is an applicatin a student wuld like installed he/she may discuss the educatinal merits f the applicatin with his/her teacher. Once an applicatin is deemed apprpriate fr the classrm it may be installed. Saving Dcuments Saving dcuments with yur ipad is accmplished using clud strage. This will require yu t have a DrpBx r Ggle Dcs accunt. Using this accunt, yu can save, exprt, and imprt dcuments in a cuple f different frmats. This allws yu t access yur dcuments frm ther cmputers via the Internet. Yu can als share yur dcuments with ther students r yur teacher. When creating accunts students shuld use the fllwing frmat when creating usernames/passwrds in rder t ensure he/she desn t frget this vital infrmatin: Username: schl address (firstname.lastname@stu.hancck.kyschls.us) Passwrd: [n spaces] FirstinitialLastnameLunchcde (jde12345) Reprting Technical Issues Any errrs r prblems with the ipad shuld be reprted as sn as practical. The fllwing prcedure shuld be exercised when reprting ipad issues: 1. Let yur LEAD Teacher r regular Classrm teacher knw f yur issue. 2. If yur teacher is nt able t reslve the issue, then they will direct yu t Laura Szefi in the Media Center r Brad Gdall (whever is available) t see if it is smething that he/she can reslve. 3. If the issue is beynd Mrs. Szefi s r Mr. Gdall s capabilities, then they will cmplete a Tech Ticket fr the District Tech Persnnel. Once yur technical issue with the ipad reaches this level, yu can expect that it may take up t 48 hurs t have the issue reslved. Damage due t a determined accidental cause will be addressed by the schl thrugh nrmal prcedures. Damage due t negligence may result in the student assuming the financial respnsibility f replacement f the ipad. Students taking the ipad frm schl prperty must sign and submit the Parent-Student ipad Use Agreement Frm. Student use f the ipad ff schl grunds may be revked at anytime by the administratin r designated persn. Security Students shuld set a security passcde n his/her ipad. This passcde shuld be knwn nly by the student t ensure the ipad is nly used by the designated student. The schl district has the right t bypass the security cde with justifiable reasn. Hme Bund / Students Nt at Schl Hmebund students withut wireless internet access at hme will still be allwed access t his/her ipad but will be expected t dwnlad materials needed BEFORE ging hme. Any student placed n hme bund may use their schl issued ipad as lng as assigned schl wrk is being cmpleted and turned in. Once a hmebund student starts missing assignments fr any given class (mre than ne week behind), the parents will be cntacted and a hme visit will be set up s that a system can be devised t keep the hmebund student caught up.

3 Hancck Cunty High Schl ipad Discipline Cde Prper care f ipads thrugh the schl year and returning at the end f the schl year with all accessries are the respnsibility f the student. Students nt returning their ipad will be assessed the value f a replacement and will nt be issued an ipad the fllwing year until ALL balances are paid frm the previus year (lunch, Library Fees, previus ipad damage, etc.). Care and Respnsibility Level A: Care and Respnsibility: Letting anther student use yur assigned ipad Nt having ipad in schl issued cver Use f Headphnes when a teacher has given instructins NOT t use them. Using ipad arund fd (breakfast, lunch, etc.) Leaving ipad unattended. ipads shuld NOT be taken t the gym during PE r fr after-schl practices students shuld keep their ipad lcked in their lckers r lcked in a classrm ipads shuld be left n the Stage and NOT n the steps during lunch. Playing games r n a site nt apprved by the teacher during instructinal time Clear/disable brwsing histry OR disabling anther student s ipad. Battery nt adequately charged t get thrugh the entire schl day. ipad strage full r nt adequate fr educatinal purpses. Failing t have Ntificatins disabled during class. 1st ffense - 1 demerit 2nd ffense - 2 demerits 3rd ffense - 2 demerits and/r lss f privileges, n mre than 7 days *Lss f privileges may include lss f device and/r deactivatin f certain features such as camera, internet, etc. Level B: Care and Respnsibility (Intentinal Misuse) Any intentinal damage/destructin t device and/r cmpnents f device. Intentinal damage results in 3-5 days f ISLA plus csts fr repair/replacement ipad Misuse Level A: Inapprpriate Use Inapprpriate use f camera (face-time, etc.) Presence f inapprpriate nn-instructinal materials 1st ffense - 1 Sunrise and lss f privileges fr 5 days 2nd ffense days f ISLA and lss f privileges fr 10 days 3rd ffense days f ISLA and lss f privileges fr 20 days *Lss f privileges may include lss f device and/r deactivatin f certain features such as camera, internet, etc.

Student becmes a day user. Lss r Damage If an ipad is damaged utside f schl, the damage must be reprted t an administratr r designee by 8:00 a.m. the fllwing mrning. If an ipad is damaged during schl it must be reprted t a teacher r administratr immediately. General Rules HEADPHONES / EAR-BUDS the use f headphnes r ear-buds during class time will be left up t the discretin f each teacher. If there is repeated ccurrence f an ipad nt being usable fr the schl day, i.e nt being charged, then the administratin reserves the right t make the student a day user fr a length f time t be determined by administratin. ipads in ISLA the use f Ear-buds r headphnes will NOT be allwed while in ISLA unless specified as needed by the students teacher. ipad access in ISLA may als be limited depending n the length f time a student is assigned t ISLA. N access fr any student after 3 rd day spent in ISLA fr the year. Assignments will be cmmunicated via direct message n Edmd. OR, if needed, students will be allwed t cmmunicate via n ne f the available desktps in the ISLA area Please Remember Devices may be mnitred by schl and district level administratrs at any time fr misuse. Administratin reserves the right t take an ipad at any time if misuse r inapprpriate use/cntent is suspected. Teachers reserve the right t restrict ipad use during class if misuse is suspected. I understand that my absences and my actins may cause fr the remval f my ipad privileges (either temprary r lng-term) I understand and will abide by the abve ipad User Agreement. I further understand that shuld I cmmit any vilatin, my access privileges may be revked and schl disciplinary actin taken.
