2 Deidre Hazlewood Vice Principal, Curriculum B.Ed Deidre Hazlewood gained a Bachelor of Education degree from Edith Cowan University, Australia. She commenced her teaching career as a Primary teacher in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia before moving to the United Kingdom. Based in London for 12 years, she taught across the full range of Primary grades. With extensive experience in promoting effective and inclusive classroom practices, she contributed to senior leadership and management teams in the roles of Key Stage Coordinator, Advanced Skills Teacher and Assistant Head Teacher. As the Primary Literacy Consultant for Westminster City Council, London, she worked with the School Effectiveness Team to implement and support standards in teaching and learning across Westminster s 40 inner London s primary schools. Deidre joined the SJI International in 2010 and is committed to ensuring that the students experience a challenging, purposeful and engaging learning experience within a nurturing environment.

3 Vince Burke Vice Principal, Pastoral M.Ed B.Ed Hons. Vince Burke was born in London, England. He completed his B.Ed (Hons) at St. Mary s College, University of Surrey. After graduating Vince taught in a number of Central London Catholic primary schools, where he gained great experience in multicultural education and working with children from a wide variety of backgrounds. He completed his Masters in Education in Eucational Computing at Kings College, London As Head Teacher, he has led challenging schools for the past 17 years, including five years at St. George s Cathedral School in London before moving to Our Lady s School in Sussex in He has a keen interest in using creative curricula to augment learning experiences for students. 4 Jacqueline McNalty Head of Early Years Jacqueline McNalty has over twenty two years experience in a variety of educational settings. She joins SJI International- Elementary after two years working on the Pre- Operations team, assisting in setting up another international school in Singapore. Jacqueline has previously worked as an Acting Head and Assistant Head of Early Years/ PYP Coordinator at a leading international school in Singapore. Jacqueline has enjoyed key leadership roles in early childhood settings, including Australia and the United Kingdom, where she worked as both Director and Head of Early Years programmes. Additional experience includes leadership as PYP Coordinator for Mathematics at a highly-regarded international school in Beijing and being a member of the Curriculum Development Team. Jacqueline has published articles in early childhood journals and has played a key role in early childhood network groups around the world. She is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and is passionate about working in partnership with parents in educating their children. Jacqueline is a curriculum and early childhood workshop leader and continues to lead workshops at international schools around the Asia-Pacific region. Jacqueline is passionate about the field early childhood, school improvement and educational leadership. She is currently undertaking her Doctorate studies, having obtained her Master s degree. Both post-graduate research awards have been within the field of education. Her Certificate in International School Leadership from the Principal Training Centre (PTC) and Certificate from the Australian Council of Educational Leadership (ACEL) are testament to her interest and capacities in school leadership.

5 Steven Dalgarno Head of Middle Years Steve was born in Stoke-on-Trent, England. He completed his B.A. (Hons) in Primary Education & English at Manchester Metropolitan University. Steve has experience of teaching across the entire middle and upper elementary age ranges, having taught at an inner city school in the UK before making the move to Qatar in the Middle East, where he spent 3 years teaching at Doha British School (DBS), a multi-cultural school teaching an adapted British Curriculum. Steve gained valuable experience as the ICT subject leader in both of these positions. In January 2011, with a special emphasis on developing the teaching and learning opportunities of all students, he became KS2 leader (Grades 2-5) at DBS, his first step into middle leadership. Steve joined SJIIES along with his wife Cathy in 2012 and has settled into his new surroundings quickly. One of the main reasons for Steve coming to SJIIES was to add the experience of teaching the IPC and Virtues programmes to his existing teaching skills. He has not been disappointed by either! He firmly believes that they have enhanced him not only as a teacher and leader but, the Virtues programme in particular, as a person also. As the newest member of the senior leadership team, Steve is excited to be working closely alongside the existing team. He is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead, with the sole aim of ensuring that SJIIES continues to grow and develop. His initial goal is to provide consistent leadership and support to the Middle Years Department, and in doing so ensure a progressive, effective transition for our children as they enter from the Early Years and exit to the Upper Elementary School. Steve s favourite things outside of school revolve around travelling, sport and reading. Travelling provides opportunities to meet new people and experience different cultures, sport satisfies his competitive nature and reading relaxes the body and mind. However, his main passion is supporting Stoke City Football Club something, given half a chance, he is always more than willing to talk about.

6 Neil Corrigan Head of Upper Elementary School Neil comes from Kilkenny, Ireland. He studied in Birmingham, England, gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education following a BA Honours Degree in History and Sports Sciences. After university Neil taught in the United Kingdom, where he spent 8 years on the senior leadership team, as Numeracy Co-ordinator and Phase Leader for ages He spent his first international teaching post in Qatar for two years, before moving to the bright lights of Dubai, where he spent a further two years as part of the Creative Curriculum Team. Neil is passionate about sport and has represented Qatar and Dubai for Gaelic Games, when competing in the Gaelic Athletic Asian Games. If he is not playing football, he is cheering his beloved Liverpool football club!

After university Neil taught in the United Kingdom, where he spent 8 years on the senior leadership team, as Numeracy Co-ordinator and Phase Leader for ages 7-11.

7 Donna Blackman Head of Learning Support Donna was born in London, England. She initially worked as a teaching assistant, supporting children with physical, learning and behaviour difficulties whilst completing her BA (Hons) Degree in Psychosocial Studies before completing the Graduate Teaching Program to become a teacher. In 2014, Donna obtained her Masters of Education (Special Education) at the National Institute of Education, Singapore. Prior to joining SJI International Elementary School, Donna taught at Essex Primary School in Newham, the most culturally diverse borough in London, where she was extensively trained to assess and teach children with English as an Additional Language and those with Special Educational Needs. SJI International Elementary School is Donna s first international teaching position. She has successfully delivered a culturally inclusive and creative curriculum where children have fun learning and achieving, firstly as a Prep 2 teacher in 2009 and currently in her role as Head of ICT since Donna s passion for innovative technology drives her commitment to developing digitally confident learners. Donna is committed to equipping children with the skills to be digital creators (not consumers), independent life-long learners, and critical thinkers. In her spare time, Donna likes to keep active and enjoys coxing for the British Dragon Boat Team here in Singapore, intensive boot camp training and playing squash.
