Ofsted considered Kings to have an outstanding provision for safeguarding in the 2011 inspection. Kings is a cohesive community where students feel a strong sense of belonging. 5 7 EXCELLENT FACILITIES 8 ACTIVE LEARNING At Kings, students always have the equipment they need to succeed in the course they are studying and subject areas have facilities that are designed to inspire and motivate. Students benefit from a purpose built sports facility with all-weather pitches, two sports halls and a bespoke Dance studio. The light and airy teaching facilities are an important aspect in creating a learning environment where students want to learn and teachers want to teach. The cafeteria produces a wide range of excellent food to encourage students to make healthy choices. Attention to the safety and well-being of every individual is exemplified in the outstanding support provided for students with physical disabilities. The Curriculum is designed to be broad, balanced and challenging. It is taught with an emphasis on active learning, problem-solving, development of interactive group work and the use of Information and Communications Technology across all subjects. At Kings, we have a whole school focus on how students learn, how they know they are learning and how they develop the skills they need to improve. Students know their target grades and how to achieve them. Staff feedback ensures they are constantly challenged to aim high and achieve more. Experienced and specialised teachers have devised a bespoke and unique curriculum to meet the needs of Kings College Guildford students.
6 We provide our students with the widest possible educational experience. Our Enrichments Programme takes place at lunchtimes and after school and offers a wide range of activities for all year groups. Students are actively encouraged to participate in as many activities as they wish. 9 BROAD RANGE OF ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES A range of school visits and residential trips provide a broad mixture of new skills and experiences that bring fun and enjoyment. Students also benefit from a wide range of clubs and sporting activities. Annual trips to Europe include Barcelona, Paris, Madrid and also the Christmas Market in Lille. Other visits more local to home include the Clothes Show in Birmingham, many theatre trips, the Science Big Bang Show as well as Geography and Science field trips. There is an active Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme enabling a significant number of students to successfully take part in the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. 10 LIVING OUR VALUES Our aim is to achieve excellence in everything we do.
