Prior to each use of the equipment it is to be disconnected from the mains supply. 3.6 Standards NOTES ON OTHER REGULATIONS AND RISKS The procedural notes and excerpts from the circuit diagrams presented throughout the technical documentation are to be understood in the general sense They are be checked before every application. BÖHNKE + PARTNER will accept no liability for their individual suitability. To achieve proper function of the complete control system, you must comply with the documentation provided by the manufacturers of other components you have also been supplied with (e.g. the operating instructions for the frequency converter The bp308 control system may only be used for processing the information in lift control systems. Control units, printed-circuit boards, modules or other devices that have been damaged in transit to you may not be used or put in operation. Printed-circuit boards contain components that are easily damaged by electrostatic discharge. Therefore, before touching any electronic component make sure that your own body has been discharged. You can do this by touching a conductive, earthed object (e.g. bare-metal parts of the control cabinet) immediately before. 3.7 EMC-directives Every industrial or electronically controlled device (PCs, micro-processors, computers, UPS) can be influenced by interference pulses if no counter measures have been taken. These interference pulses can be generated by external appliances such as voltage fluctuations in the feed-line as well as control pulses of the power stages in the frequency inverter. BÖHNKE + PARTNER have taken all regular measures while manufacturing the control unit and use components that are only slightly sensitive to interference pulses from the surroundings. ATTENTION! It is absolutely necessary to follow the EMC-instructions from the frequency inverter's manufacturer. If you have any queries regarding EMC-directives please ask our support team. Pay attention to the notes on interference-suppressing measures given in this handbook. 3.8 EN 81-2 Requirements of EN 81-2:: We wish to emphasise the fact that BÖHNKE + PARTNER do not accept any liability for damages that may arise due to compliance with EN Example: Relevelling of a hydraulically operated lift despite intended runtime monitoring due to phase failure. 7 4.0 BöPa - Description of the A3 - requirement 4.1 Requirement for certified safety devices The safeguards against uncontrolled car movements have been further developed and will be in EN81-1: A3: 2009 and EN81-2: A3: 2009 (Section and Section ) and required as UCM A3. This is valid from for all new installations and upgrades. In accordance with the new regulation, lifts must be equipped with a certified safety device, which prevents uncontrolled movement of the vehicle with an open door whilst on a floor, and, as shown in the illustration, allows the cabin to come to a stop in a predetermined area Fig. 1: Cabin moving down The cabin floor may be max. 1200mm below the flush position. There must be a space of at least 1000mm between the top of the cabin compartment and edge of landing step Fig. 2: Cabin moving up The cabin floor may be max. 1200mm above the flush position. There must be a space of at least 1000mm between the cabin floor and upper edge of the shaft access hatch. The fitted skirt below the cabin may only then allow a gap of max. 200mm Inspection of the situation In order to guarantee this requirement in accordance with EN81-1/2 A3, a sensor module must detect any unintended movement in the open cabin / shaft doors and trigger a present and certified "A3-Brems- und Festhaltevorrichtung" (A3-braking and holding mechanism). The possible danger zone is the zone section. This zone section is limited by the SMZ-04 safety circuit or the SMZ on the BPL-02. If the zone section is left the circuit detects it within 10 ms, turns off all drive signals and the activated A3-braking and holding mechanism stops and holds the car immediately. This faulty movement is detected by the control system and the unit is blocked from subsequent use. This block is also activated following power failure and power recovery and can only be reset directly at the control system. The error is stored in memory along with all date and time data Confirmation of equivalence / use of inspection numbers The SMZ-04 safety circuit developed by BÖHNKE + PARTNER GmbH for monitoring the permitted zone is also certified in accordance with "A3: 2009". Certificate: SMZ-04 - EC-type inspection No.: 01/208/5A/0408/1770Ae1 The SMZ-04 safety circuit developed by BÖHNKE + PARTNER GmbH for for monitoring the permitted zone is integrated into BPL-02, a component of the bp117, bp304, bp306, bp308 control systems and also certified in accordance with A3: Certificate: BPL-02 - EC-type inspection No.: 01/208/5A/1103/1644Ae Explanation on the use of the certification numbers The SMZ-04 module has passed a standard type inspection and received inspection-no.: 01/208/5A0408/1770. See imprint on the SMZ-04 module. The extension for the A3-type inspection can be recognised with the "Ae1" appendix in the above described certificate Inspection-No.:01/208/5A0408/1770Ae1. Technical changes to the component were not made. The BPL-02 module, as a sub module of the bp117, bp304, bp306 systems has passed a standard type inspection and received inspection no: 01/208/5A/1103/1644. See imprint on the BPL-02 module. For the bp308 system a new certificate has been created with the attachment Ae3 inspection-no.: 01/208/5A/1103/1644Ae3. The extension for the A3-type inspection can be recognised with the Ae4 appendix in the above described certificate Inspection-No.:01/208/5A/1103/1644Ae4. Technical changes to the component were not made Confirmation of equivalence for the original inspection numbers and length of validity The design, construction and the functions are not changed by the new A3-type inspection. This means the inspection numbers originally printed on the SMZ-04 and BPL-02 continue to remain valid. Through the extension for A3-type inspection the original inspection numbers are described by attachments on the certificate. (SMZ-04 with Ae1 and BPL-02 with AE4) Technical changes to the component were not made. The validity period is described in the certificate and should be adhered to. 9 4.3 General information Notes on installation a) The A3 components are to be used as intended and according to the requirements. The operating instructions for the entire system (lift assembly operation) must be present. b) The evidence that contains the correct combination of subsystems used with the lift system in order to meet the A3's requirements are to be provided. c) The lift manufacturer must provide the documentation for the installed A3 components. d) The inspection instructions to be provided for the expert must already have been placed and set up at the lift system Notes on function a) A monitoring area (max. + / mm = Zone section) controlled by means of a sensor, the unintended movement of the cabin with the door open, from out of the door zone. b) When exceeding a speed of > 0.3 m / sec in the area section, a control unit switches off the safety circuit in the control loop of the drive (cable or hydraulic),. c) The control circuit detects the state and safely switches the power unit off. The A3 brake, the valve, the brake cable, or appropriate safety device then lock the car in a safe position. d) The suitable A3 catching device then activates when the cabin is overloaded or due to any other reasons such as shaft or gear breakage or slippage, etc.. the car is held in place by the magnet s drawbar on the speed delimiter fishing pendulum. The cam wheel is blocked and the limiter cable immediately activates the A3 catching device. The safety circuit's power supply is immediately interrupted by the switch on the movement prevention protector caused by the respective position of the cam catch to the catch pendulum the release path may measure between 10 cm and 20 cm. e) for the A3 the control the zone circuit on the BPL-02 or the separate SMZ-04 is used. A magnetic switch is sufficient for channel 1, whereas + an AWG signal is sufficient for channel 2. f) The required A3 distances (Fig. 1 +2), in case of unintended movement in the event of open Cabin / shaft doors in the area section, as described in the standard EN (9.11) and EN81-2 (9.13) are to be abided by. g) If the braking system cannot bring the car to a standstill within the required A3 distances then the size of the zone can be reduced. The maximum acceleration is taken into account when adjusting. h) The flush position of the cabin is monitored by the AWG and the control system Notes on inspection a) The expert inspects the built in security components for conformity with A3. b) The A3 inspection instructions are at the lift system. See the A3 inspection programme. c) The inspection specifications of the safety circuit (SMZ-04 / BPL-02) for the expert are clearly described and understandable for both new and periodic inspections. d) The expert will follow the instructions described in stages. e) An inspection programme is integrated for supporting bp117, bp302, bp304, bp306 and bp308. f) The expert will check the specified acceptance limits of EN81 A3 (e.g. distances) by measuring the lift system. g) The expert confirms the measured values in his inspection report. 11 6.0 Inspection programme for the Bp117, bp302, bp304, bp306, bp308 systems The inspections are described for: a) the transmissionless drive with A3 brake on the drive pulley See 6.01 b) with the drive transmission (without the A3brake on the drive pulley) and with an A3 speed delimiter and an A3 safety device See 6.05 c) the hydraulic lift (the A3 valve) See 6.06 The inspection procedure is to be adhered to. 6.1 Step 1 Before inspection, the speed monitoring is to be bridged in the safety circuit in order to switch off only through the zone switch. Picture of the SMZ-04 with bridge For the SMZ-04 these are clamps Picture of the BPL-02 with bridge For the BPL-02 these are clamps ZV1 + ZV2. Test A3 SMZ-04 / BPL / Page 11

6.2 Step 2 To inspect this function before using the system there is a testing program in the bp308. The inspection program is password protected in the Maintenance menu. The password can be entered in the setup menu with max. 8 digits. The default code on delivery is After entering the verification code a warning appears on the display of control saying "Danger!" Inspection procedures are to be observed. To perform the UCM inspection (A3) with an open or closed door, this can be adjusted in the following parameters accordingly. If the parameters are adjusted whilst the door is open, the following screen appears: If an inspection process with closed doors is chosen, then before starting a check one of the inspections runs regardless of whether an interruption of safety circuit occurred. If not, the inspection coverage run will not commence and the following message will appear: To open the safety circuit by hand an A3 inspection switch with I - 0 (2S300) is located in the control panel. Test A3 SMZ-04 / BPL / Page 12

6.3 Step There are two inspection methods available: A3 inspection drive In this case the lift runs with the door open and circuit security enabled with the fast speed from the zone until the safety circuit is activated and the process finished A3 brake inspection Attention! In this instance, a variety of manipulations of the VVF will be necessary before carrying out, in order to where possible switch directly to the short circuit protector and internal brake protector from the control panel. A corresponding description of each converter is available on request. In the case of the door being open the brakes and the driving protector are activated until the safety circuit is activated and the process finished If the inspection is not performed within five minutes of activation and no key has been pressed, the inspection programme will be automatically terminated and the controls will be frozen. Otherwise, the inspection can only be launched according to the instructions on the display. After the inspection, the distance to be travelled can be read from the display. Test A3 SMZ-04 / BPL / Page 13

6.4 Step Inspection sequence The lift is flush with the closed door on the floor. This access can be secured (safety fence), so that no third party can enter the lift during the inspection. The doors are opened. The Light barrier entrance as well as the door switches are pressure wave monitored.. If any of these signals are registered, the inspection will not start. If the parameter is activated with the door closed, the above paragraph is not applicable and the doors remain closed In order to open the safety circuit, a switch (2S300 inspection A3) in the control panel is activated. The safety circuit for bridging the switch for locking mechanism is activated. The lift now travels at its maximum rated speed or just by activating the brake in the chosen direction If the area is left (magnetic switch or internal signal 47 = 0) the security circuit turns off. The safety circuit switches the downstream brake protector off after 10 ms and from this deactivates (depending on the type of protector) within 32ms and the subsequent trip relays are also turned off. A braking device inspected in accordance with the A3 activates and keep bringing the car to a halt. The distance travelled is shown on the display. If the path reached is outside the acceptable range the area must section be reduced accordingly and the inspection repeated until an acceptable distance has been reached. By calling in the opposite direction the lift travels back to the starting position after the doors have been closed again. A further inspection for the opposite direction can now be performed. After successful completion the areas on every other floor are to be adapted accordingly. To achieve this, in the absolute position measurement menu the area section is to be adjusted back and forth. In addition, the area magnets on the floors must be set to the inspected value. Test A3 SMZ-04 / BPL / Page 14

6.5 Addition to the UCM inspection for cable lifts with transmission: For traction lifts with gear and without the A3 certified brake on the drive pulley, suitable A braking or restraining systems are required to meet EN : 1998 A3:2009. Usually, a suitable A3 speed delimiter with solenoid and locking bolts, as well as a suitable A3 safety device will be sufficient. The suitable A3 catching device then activates when the cabin is overloaded or due to any other reasons such as shaft or gear breakage or slippage, etc... The car is held in place by the magnet s drawbar on the speed delimiter fishing pendulum. The cam wheel is blocked and the limiter cable immediately activates the A3 catching device. The safety circuit's power supply is immediately interrupted by the switch on the movement prevention protector. Caused by the respective position of the cam catch to the catch pendulum the release path may measure between 10 cm and 20 cm. The SMZ 04 or BPL 02 safety circuits belonging to the control panel monitor the movement within the area. The control system detects a faulty signal during normal operation and automatically locks out with the corresponding error message. 6.6 Addition to the UCM inspection for hydraulic lifts With hydraulic drive systems special valves are employed to meet EN 81/ which can only then be checked with the setting "with drive" in the inspection programme for proper operation. The valves used are monitored during normal operations. Depending on the manufacturer, there is for this purpose one or two output options that are monitored via the control panel. In order to properly check this function the inputs are to be disconnected at the control panel or to be set to a continuous signal (+24 V). The control system detects a faulty signal during normal operation and automatically locks out with the corresponding error message. Test A3 SMZ-04 / BPL / Page 15

7.0 Maintenance sequence: In the maintenance sequence there are, depending on the inspection, two entries, "Safety inspection (the A3) begin" and "safety inspection (the A3) end", with the result that both processes are documented. The release of the locks (regardless of the reason because of which they were triggered) is documented in the notification sequence. A distinction is made whether the lock was removed by the clamp or in the menu. Maintenance sequence Notification sequence Test A3 SMZ-04 / BPL / Page 16
