2 Study with TAFE NSW Higher Education Shellharbour Campus The TAFE NSW Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care (Birth-5) is a new concept in early childhood teacher education and will be offered at Shellharbour Campus from Semester 1, State of the art facility purpose built for early childhood education

3 About the course You will develop the skills and knowledge in the areas of early childhood theory, pedagogy and approaches; professional practice and leadership; curriculum content development and design; care and wellbeing of the child within a social context; and society and culture. This degree boasts a unique design with: yy pathway options for Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma and 3 year teaching degree graduates yy opportunities to achieve multiple VET qualifications during the degree including a Certificate III and a Diploma of Children s Services yy a minimum 12 months exemption for graduates of the Diploma of Children s Services (Early Childhood Education and Care) yy articulation pathways into primary degrees at other universities yy extensive academic support built into the degree program yy flexible delivery options yy high number of work placement hours yy small tutorial class sizes yy teachers who are experts in the field and have strong ties with the profession.

4 Who can apply? yy Year 12 graduates with band 4 in any 2 units of English yy Graduates of a Certificate IV in any study area yy Graduates of the CHC41208 Certificate IV in Children s Services (Outside school hours care) yy Students with a CHC30708 Certificate III in Children s Services yy Graduates of the CHC50908 Diploma of Children s Services (Early childhood education and care) or equivalent yy Graduates of a three year Diploma or Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood wanting to obtain a 4 year qualification

5 This course offers: Opportunities to achieve multiple VET qualifications during the degree including of Certificate III and a Diploma in Children s Services yy Small tutorial class sizes yy Full time and part time study options yy High number of work placement hours with opportunities to undertake placements in your own workplace yy Teachers who are experts in the field and have strong ties with the profession yy A minimum 12 months exemption for graduates of the yy Diploma of Children s Services (Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50908) or equivalent yy Extensive academic support built into the degree program. The Bachelor Early Childhood Education and Care is a four year degree course. Entry can be into: yy First year yy Second year if a Diploma of Children s Services (Early Childhood Education and Care) has been completed yy Fourth year if a three year degree in early childhood has been completed. yy There are 40 subjects in the Degree and each subject costs $900. Work placement subjects do not attract a cost. The total cost for the course is $28,800#. # This cost does not include the loan fee for Fee Help Loans.
