Course code Locations Mount Druitt campus Newcastle campus Ultimo campus Duration 2 years full-time $1,500* per subject The Associate Degree of Applied Engineering (Renewable Energy Technologies) has been designed to address the needs of a rapidly evolving energy market, in which governments and corporations are adjusting their priorities to reflect environmental imperatives. Graduates of this course will be eligible to enter into the third year of a bachelor degree at a partner university. What will you learn? You will develop a combination of theoretical and practical electrical, mechanical and civil engineering skills related to designing, developing, installing, maintaining, repairing, commissioning and decommissioning renewable and sustainable energy technology solutions. Benefits of the Associate Degree of Applied Engineering (Renewable Energy Technologies) Technical and industry skills. TAFE NSW is known for its practical hands-on training, and its applied approach to learning. The course is delivered fully online with no face-to-face class attendance required, so you don t need to take time out from work to complete the requirements of this course. What will you learn? This course is a postgraduate course that will equip you with the knowledge and skills to lead and manage in a range of vocational education and training contexts. Benefits of the Graduate Diploma of Leadership (VET Sector) Fully online delivery. This course is delivered online, so there is no need to attend face-toface classes. Practical. 14 Applying and s How to apply Eligibility for degree courses You must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for admission to a TAFE NSW Higher Education degree program: NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent; or Tertiary Preparation Certificate; or Certificate IV level or higher vocational qualification; or completion of at least one year full-time study or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution. Entry requirements Each course of study may set its own specific entry requirements in addition to the minimum eligibility requirements. For example, students may need to successfully complete a test and/ or interview or submit a portfolio of evidence. Check the course information page on the TAFE NSW Higher Education website for course-specific entry requirements. Selection criteria Your application will be assessed against a range of selection criteria relevant to the course or discipline for which you are applying. If your application is successful If your application is successful, the campus will send you an offer letter. To accept the offer of a place, you must complete and return the Acceptance Form that is attached to your offer letter by the date specified in the offer letter. If you do not accept the offer by the date indicated, your offer will be withdrawn and your place in the course will be offered to another applicant. International students Different application processes, forms and course fees apply to international students. Contact DEC International on or go to decinternational.nsw.edu.au for further information. s and payment s for higher education courses are charged on a per-subject basis and are payable each semester. The fees charged for each subject will vary between courses. You should check the course you wish to apply for to determine the relevant course fees. Equipment and other costs In addition to tuition fees, you may be required to purchase additional resources (such as equipment, protective clothing and textbooks) in connection with some subjects of your course. payment options An invoice will be issued to you upon receipt of your Acceptance Form which will explain the terms available for payment of fees. You may pay fees and other enrolment-related charges by: EFTPOS; Visa; MasterCard; personal cheque, bank cheque or money order; at your local Australia Post office; or BPAY. Cash is not accepted. 13
15 Help with fees What is FEE-HELP? The Australian government provides assistance to higher education students through the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP). FEE- HELP is a student loan scheme and is available to eligible fee-paying students to pay all or part of their tuition fees. For all TAFE NSW degrees FEE-HELP provides you with the option of: deferring all of your tuition fees; or paying some of your tuition fees upfront and deferring the balance. There is a loan fee of 25% for FEE-HELP loans for undergraduate programs. As a postgraduate course, the Graduate Diploma of Leadership (VET Sector) does not attract a loan fee. Am I eligible? To be eligible for FEE-HELP you must: be an Australian citizen or a permanent humanitarian visa holder who will be resident in Australia for the duration of study or a permanent visa holder who is undertaking bridging study for overseas trained professionals who will be resident in Australia for the duration of study; provide a tax file number; not exceed your FEE-HELP loan limit; provide, or be allocated, a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN) a unique identifying number provided by the Australian government. How do I pay back the loan? You repay your FEE-HELP loan through the Australian tax system when you reach the minimum income threshold for repayment. How do I apply? To apply for FEE-HELP, you should: 1. read the FEE-HELP Information Booklet on studyassist.gov.au; and 2. complete a Request for FEE-HELP Assistance Form, available from your local campus, on or before the census date.
