1 Opening pilgrimage: The Fjord route of St. Olav s way july 2014 Welcome to join a 9 - days pilgrimage from the border between Norway and Sweden to Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. Walk through Norwegian history in famous historical places like Stiklestad, Munkeby, Alstadhaug, Falstad, Frosta and Tautra. The path goes along the beautiful Trondheim fjord, through small villages, wide fields in the county of Trondelag. About the pilgrimage This is the official opening pilgrimage of the newly marked Fjord route of St. Olav s way. We start in the mountains in the border areas between Norway and Sweden. The trek goes through mountains, forests, wide Trøndelag communities through small towns and along the beautiful Trondheim Fjord. On the trek we will visit historical sites such as Stiklestad, the pilgrim church on Alstadhaug (1100s), the former prison camp at Falstad and the bird Sanctuary at Tautra. We will visit two living Cistercian monasteries built next to the abbey ruins from the Middle Ages. The pilgrims will have the option to experience Norways biggest outdoor play at Stiklestad: The St. Olav drama. This is seen by every summer. At the ancient place of law Tinghaugen in Frosta, we will participate in the official opening ceremony of the Fjord route. The last part of the pilgrimage will be by the sail steamer M/S Hansteen from When we arrive in Trondheim we will meet hundreds of other pilgrims coming from every direction. We will join with them and walk together the last hundred meters up to Nidaros cathedral where we have the option to participate in the highlight of the celebration of St. Olav s day Prayer On our journey you will be invited to join three daily prayers (one of them with holy communion). You will during these prayers/meditations be invited to explore three different stories: The great bible story, the story of St. Olav and the story of your life. These meditations / prayers will be voluntary. Accomodation Most of the hostels along the way are pilgrims hostels with fairly simple standard. In some of the hostels you can order bed sheets and single room. Price The pilgrimage cost NOK 7350,-. This includes: guiding, every meal (exept lunch and dinner in Trondheim), accommodation, boat voyage, luggage transport, minibus from the airport to the starting point and tickets for The St. Olav drama. When you sign up to participate on the pilgrimage you will have a enty fee on NOK 1000,-

2 Registration and more information Telephone: This pilgrimage can take 12 pilgrims. Please give information about food intolerance etc. when you registrer to participate. The common language will be English. Responsibility The guide on this pilgrimage does not run a travel agency. Every pilgrim is therefore responsible for her/his own journey. Everybody is recommended to buy travel insurance before you go.
