3 Main purpose of the trip is to gain greater understanding of the Holocaust and experience first hand what it was like for persecuted people in WW2 An opportunity to make new friends and socialise across the year groups 43 students and 5 staff

4 Krakow Cultural Capital of Poland Southern city near the border of the Czech Republic Renowned for its well preserved medieval town centre and Jewish quarter Beautiful Old Town ringed by Planty Park and remains of the city s medieval walls The town centre features the Rynek Glówny (market square), the Cloth Hall, and St. Mary s Basilica, a 14th-century Gothic church.

10 Day 1 (10 November) Meet at school at 06.00am Bus Bay Coach departs at 6.30am prompt. Anyone arriving late will have to meet us at the airport Depart Leeds Bradford 09.30am Ryanair FR2332 Arrive Krakow 13.00pm and transfer by coach to hotel about half an hour

11 Day 1 (cont) Check into Hotel Krakow Walking Tour and visit to Schindler s factory Evening meal in the hotel

12 Day 2 (11 November) Full day visit to Auschwitz/Birkenau Concentration Camp leaving at 8.30am. Packed lunch provided Evening Meal in the hotel Polish Independence Day celebrations in the Market Square in the evening

15 Day 3 (12 November) Breakfast and then free time in Krakow Staff located in the main square Depart for airport and return home Ryanair flight FR2333 arrives Leeds Bradford at 15.10pm Return to school approx 17.00pm

21 Standards and Expectations The highest standard of behaviour is expected. Drink/cigarettes strictly forbidden Curfews/lights out will be enforced, you will be tired and so will the staff. We are on our best behaviour in the hotel, mindful of members of the public Students must not leave the hotel without permission Staff want students to enjoy themselves Visit to Auschwitz it is a memorial to those who lost their lives/mass grave site Photographs allowed but don t be intrusive/selfies not appropriate

22 Hotel Rooming Students choose Twin and triple bed rooms with own shower and toilet. Please complete room allocation sheets before you leave Staff located nearby Please ensure any electrical equipment is unplugged after use

23 Hotel etiquette Students will be told where they can find staff at all times Students will know the room of Mrs Moffat and nearest member of staff Students not to visit rooms of the opposite gender at any time Students not to swap rooms after bedtime Students to respect other guests Students to lock doors when asleep

24 Money English money for airport and plane ( 20) Polish zloty for gifts/souvenirs ( 20 equivalent) Change for bus driver collection Ensure credit on phone

25 Food provided Evening meal in hotel on Wed/Thurs - let Mrs Sharples know if vegetarian or vegan complete information on the rooming sheet Breakfast in hotel Thurs/Fri mornings Packed lunch on Thursday The only food/drinks students need to pay for is whilst travelling at airport/on plane

26 Clothing Casual but appropriate (no particularly smart clothes needed) Suitable footwear we do a lot of walking Waterproof coat/ jacket needed at all times Warm clothes/layers it will be cold Hat, scarf and gloves recommended

29 Emergencies Students will be asked to contact/speak to us first in a case of emergency, not you We will communicate with parents as necessary (usually through Debbie Parkinson) NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS!
