2 Peru Peru is the third largest country in South America, about twice as large as France. The 2250 km coastline from north to south is dry and desert like. Behind the coast the Andes rise with its highest point Huascarán at 6768 meters. Behind the mountains the country falls into the Amazon jungle again. Around 25.5 million live in Peru, of which 44% live on the coast and only 5% live in the jungle. The official language is Spanish. The Indian population speaks Quechua and as their second languages they speak Spanish. There are not many who understand or speak English, but you get far with a bit of Spanish. Peru borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and the Pacific. The country is divided into three different regions, the narrow coastal belt along the Pacific, the wide Andean mountains and Amazon rainforest. Most of the population lives along the coast, although it is desert area. Peru is especially known for its Inca country, but many great pre-columbian civilizations also flourished in the country before the Incas arrival. Visitors can, among other things, see the ancient ruins in Cusco, the Inca capital, explore Machu Picchu, the lost city and the ruins of other cultures including the Nazca and Moche. Cusco was once the capital of the great Inca civilization, but is also home to magnificent examples of colonial architecture. The Inca temples stone foundations are still visible in the colonial buildings in and around the city. Many tourists are attracted to Cusco for its location near the famous Machu Picchu ruins and the Inca Trail. Because of its location - approx meters above sea level the evenings and nights are cool, while daytime is sunny year round. Cusco, with its rich heritage from the Inca period and with all the comforts of an internationally known city has to offer, is an incredibly interesting place to learn Spanish.

3 Preliminary programme* Week 1 Spanish Tour of the city of Lima Ballesta Lakes Lima and Paracas: After a tour of Lima city, we head to Paracas National Park, where we enjoy the beach, take a boat trip to the Ballesta Lakes, where we will see oceans of sea lions and bird life and explore the desert in the National Park Sealions and birds Week 2 Desert Oasis Sandboarding Nazca Lines Inca Mystery Huacachina and Nazca: We arrive in Huacachina, an oasis in the middle of the desert, where the Spanish lessons start in the shadow of a random tree at our lovely hotel. We offer you dune-buggy and sandboarding in the desert and a trip to a Pisco-vinyard! In Nazca we shall experience the world famous mysterious lines of Nazca and meet a very special lady, who can tell us almost everything about them. *Observera att resans ordning och innehåll kan ändras beroende på årstid, väder, deltagares önskemål etc.

4 Arequipa, Puno and Titicaca: Week 3 Condors Worlds Deepest Canyon Titicaca Lake Arequipa gives us one of the most famous archeological founds from the Andes, the Juanita mummy, and some time on your own. There are great optionals available in and around Arequipa with loads of adventure activities and the possibility to see condors in the worlds deepest canyon, Colca Canyon! Titicaca gives us the Uros Islands, where the Indians live on home-made floating islands and a trek at beautiful island of Taquile. Trekking Taquile [email protected]

5 Week 4 Capitol of Bolivia Huge Salt Plains Coca Museum La Paz and Uyuni: We cross the border to Bolivia, where we start off in the capitol La Paz. Here we will visit the Coca Museum and have some time on our own, before we drive on to Uyuni and the huge salt plains. We drive around in the jeep to see all the best places and take some good pictures! Week 5 Spanish Lessons City of Students Sucre: We arrive at the wonderful and picturesque city of Sucre where we continue our Spanish lessons, enjoy the nightlife and experience some fascinating dinosaur footsteps right out of town.

6 Week 6 Rainforest Trekking and wildlife Santa Cruz, Amboro and La Paz: We return to the biggest city of Bolivia, Santa Cruz, before we head out to the rainforest to trek and hopefully spot some wildlife. We go back to La Paz to say farewell to Bolivia for a couple of days. Week 7-8 Machu Picchu Trekking Salkantay Indians in Chinchero Markets and citylife Cusco, trekking, Machu Picchu and Chinchero: Back to Peru and to Cusco, one of the most well-kept and authentic Peruvian cities with traditionally dressed Indians, Inca ruins and the best nightlife of Peru. The city has something for everyone and you will never forget it! We will be challenged with the Salkantay route and enjoy the stunning view. No one will be disappointed when they finally see Machu Picchu! Then we live with Quechua-speaking Indians in Chinchero and end our journey in Lima with a farewell party for the group!
