3 1. Technology in generally The following references and information are purely recommendations. In principle current standards, guidelines and recognized rules of technology are to be considered by the processing plant. 1.1 Storage and transport With storage and transport, damages, contamination and in particular with stainless steel materials, the contact with iron and unalloyed steel must be avoided. Thus, it is recommended to cover, e.g. in the case of transport on a truck, the loading area with a foil if previously this truck transported pipes or construction units of unalloyed steel. 1.2 Outside corrosion protection Usually the corrosion resistance of SANHA system components (fittings and pipes) makes an outside corrosion protection dispensable. Ambient atmosphere and/or medium temperature can nevertheless make an outside, diffusion-close insulation necessary in order to hinder corrosion attacks from the outside. Special attention should be paid with aggressive content materials in the atmosphere and during a possible condensation on the outside pipe surface. 1.3 Insulation of pipes Pipe insulation depends, in particular regarding the isolation strength, on the respective application. The isolation strengths are to be selected by the processing plant depending on operational area and according to the legal defaults and regulations. The processing references of the insulating material manufacturers are to be observed. 1.4 Sealants and sealing aids Sealants, like e.g. gaskets, may not deliver chloride ions to the water or lead to local enrichments of lead chloride ions. With the Centellen seals used in SANHA components, this requirement are fulfilled. For thread connections, the use of a permanent elastic thread sealant is recommended. When using hemp, a chloride-free sealing aid is to be used. The use of thread tape (Teflon band) is not recommended. 1.5 Leak test The leak test with water according to EN 806 and/or the national standards and regulations may be executed only if the drinking water unit is taken into operation times at the latest 48 hours hereafter. During the compression test with water, the test pressure must correspond to 1.5-fold of the system operation pressure. For hygienic reasons, the leak test of drinking water pipelines should be carried out as dry testing by means of inert gases (e.g. nitrogen) or oil-free compressed air. The examination is accomplished in two sections. The leak test (preliminary test) is carried out with a pressure of 110 mbar over a period of time of 30 minutes with maximum content of the drinking water pipe system of 100 litres. For every 100 litres, the test period is extended by 10 minutes. The strength test (main examination) is executed with a maximum pipe dimension up to DN with a test pressure of 3 bars and with a maximum pipe dimension larger than DN with 1 bar, over a period of 10 minutes. For the pressure measurement, a calibrated manometer with a display accuracy of 1 mbar must be used. Appropriate inspection reports can requested from the technical SANHA hotline as well as downloaded on the Internet under The leak test must be executed at one time, at which the connection points are still accessible and not yet covered.
4 1. Technology in generally 1.6 Flushing the drinking water installation In principle all drinking water pipelines, independent of the kind of material used, are to be flushed thoroughly with filtered drinking water. Rinsing must be carried out as early as possible and following the pressure test. Thereby the following goals are to be achieved: Ensuring the drinking water quality (hygiene) Cleaning the tubing interior surfaces Avoidance of malfunctions at armatures and apparatuses These demands are fulfilled by two flushing methods: Flushing with air-water mixture Flushing with water An additional disinfection of the pipes is in principle not necessary according to EN 806 and/or the national standards and regulations do not require it. Nevertheless, if in individual cases a disinfection of the pipes be necessary for special reasons, then the details concerning certified disinfectants and disinfection methods should be coordinated with our technical customer advisory service in advance. Appropriate flushing protocols can be requested from the technical SANHA hotline as well as downloaded on the Electrical trace heating Electrical trace heating can be used for the SANHA building services systems if the pipe s inner wall temperature does not exceed 60 C in the long term. A brief rise of the temperature up to 70 C for the purpose of the thermal disinfection is permissible. With the use of electrical trace heating, closed pipe sections ranges, which do not have their own safety devices, may not be heated in order to avoid an unintentional increase in pressure within these ranges. It is essential that EN 806 and EN 1717 are observed. 1.8 Electrical protective measures For all electrically conducting system components, a potential equalization is to be carried out. The metallic SANHA installation systems (,, SANHA Therm) execute a continuous electrically conductive fitting and thus must be included in the potential equalization. For the implementation of these electrical protective measures, the installer of the electrical system is responsible.

2.6. Linear extension of the pipes Heated pipes extend themselves differently depending upon material and temperature difference. If the pipes are prevented from this thermally caused length variation, then the mechanical stresses predominating in the pipe material can exceed the permissible values, whereby damage (usually in the form of fatigue fractures) can be caused. In order to avoid this, sufficient extension leave must be given to the pipes. 15 Thermal expansion of various pipe materials Dl = a l 0 DT Pipe material Heat extension coefficient a[ 10-6 K -1 ] (20 to 100 C) Dl [mm] for l 0 = 10 m DT = K Stainless steel 16,5 8,3 Copper 16,6 8,3 Steel pipe galvanised 12,0 6,0 Compound pipes 23,0 11,0 For the compensation of aforementioned length variations, often the elasticity of the pipeline can be used. It is necessary to establish within the range of pipe detours the correct arrangement of the securing clips to ensure sufficiently flexible pipe limbs. The basic principle reads that between two fixed points there should always be sufficient stretching possibility If natural pipe conduit does not offer sufficient compensation for the possible thermal expansion, this must be ensured through the installation of special construction units such as e.g. metal bellow compensators. If sufficient space is available, also a U-pipe-compensator can be used. With concealed piping, the unhindered thermal expansion is to be ensured by the fact that the pipes are covered with flexible chloride-free material of sufficient thickness. In particular with ceiling ducts, insofar no specific fixed point has been set, are to be padded sufficiently Spacing between pipe mountings Pipes are to be connected by means of commercial clips direct with the building and may not be fastened to other pipes. In order to fulfil the noise control requirements, clips with rubber lining are to be used. The clip spacing is shown in the following chart. Mounting spaces for metallic pipes Pipe outside diameter in mm ,1 88,9 108 Mounting space in m 1,20 1,20 1, 1,80 1,80 2,40 2,40 2,70 3,00 3,00 3,00 3,00 Mounting space for Multilayer pipes Pipe outside diameter in mm Mounting space in m 1,00 1,00 1, 2,00 2, 3,00 3, 4,00 In each case, clips may be attached on the pipe, not on the fitting. In order not to set unintended fixed points, a certain distance from detours is to be observed. Since apparatus and device connections function as fixed points, a certain distance is to be kept also by these.
Permissible bending radii Stainless steel, copper and C-steel pipes can be bent with suitable bending tools within certain limits cold. A bending radius, measured in the neutral fibre of the sheet, is to be observed for SANHA system pipes of stainless steel and unalloyed steel of at least r = 3.5 x d and for copper of at least r = 3 x d. It is to be made certain that after bending, a sufficiently long cylindrical pipe for the subsequent treatment is present. With larger than above specified dimensions, the manufacturer of the bending implement is responsible for a perfect bending result. SANHA system pipes can be bent up to the dimension of 28 mm cold. MultiFit -Flex system pipes can be bent by hand, with bending springs and with bending devices. Depending on the assigned bending procedure, the minimum bending radii with bending assistance may not fall below r = 2 x d and without bending assistance r = 5 x d. The pipe may not be curved on a length of at least 1 x d (outside diameter) after the grouting. Warm bending of stainless steel and C-steel pipes is not permitted. Copper tubes may not be warm-bent (inclusive) with drinking water installations up to the dimension of 28 mm Space requirement For installation required spacing of the pipe from the wall, corner and wall masonry is to be inferred from the following sketches and charts. Minimum spacing between two press points (see following chart) Pipe outside diameter in mm Nominal size ,7 76,1 88, DN Minimum spacing to wall (see following chart) Insertion depth in mm e Amin Minimum spacing in mm Lmin Bmin Minimum spacing between two press points as well as between wall and press point Cmin
17 3. Pipe connections 3.1. Recommended pressing tools General requirements SANHA is the only manufacturer of press systems who independently gives guarantee for the tightness of the press connection, regardless of the manufacturer of the pressing tools if the press machines and press jaws fulfil the following requirements: The pressing tools must be maintained according to the respective manufacturer guidelines. Compact press machines (up to including 28 mm) must exhibit a minimum pressing force of 18 kn and a pin diameter of 10 mm. Conventional and electronic pressing machines (up to including 108 mm) must exhibit a minimum pressing force of 30 kn and a pin diameter of 14 mm. With metallic fittings up to including 54 mm in diameter, pressing jaws and slings for press connections of the type M-MM must exhibit the original profiles SA, M or V. With metallic fittings with more than 54 mm in diameter, pressing jaws and slings for press connections of the type M-MM must exhibit the original profiles SA, M. For plastic compound fittings, pressing jaws and slings must exhibit the original TH-outline. The SANHA installation instructions for the finished system must be observed SANHA pressing tools Each SANHA pressing machine is provided with a round maintenance plaque. From the marking of this plaque can be inferred, when the machine must be sent to the Company Novopress or one of the companies Novopress authorised for maintenance. With regular maintenance (once a year) the guaranty increases to three years. Press machines of other system suppliers and/or machine manufacturers are to be maintained according to their stipulation, however at least once a year The pressing jaws are stressed by strong, oscillating forces. This can lead in extreme cases to material fatigue, at least however to a clear wear - in particular that of the pin. In order to exclude dangerous accidents, here are two feasible ways presented: Regular maintenance of the pressing jaws Here, all worn parts or deformed parts are to be exchanged, so that after this maintenance, the user has a pressing jaw which is almost as new. Limitation of the life span The other possibility of preventing accidents consists of attaching at the pressing jaw a break section in such a way that the pressing jaw is destroyed after a certain life span and thus is no longer usable. With SANHA pressing jaws and slings, both procedures will be used.
18 With pressing jaws and slings for the electronic pressing machine (catalogue number 6920, 6932, 6933 and/or intermediate jaws catalogue number 6931,1, 6931,2, 6931,3) and with SANHA pressing jaws and slings for service plus for conventional (compatible) pressing machines (catalogue numbers 6940, 6932 and/or intermediate jaws catalogue number 6930) the procedure of regular maintenance is used. These Pressing jaws are as already stipulated with SANHA Novopress pressing machines provided with an inspection label, on which the next inspection date is given. With regular annual maintenance, the guaranty for these pressing jaws and/or pressing slings is increased up to five years. SANHA pressing jaw standard (catalogue number 6958) should be checked at the latest once a year after purchase or after 10,000 pressing jobs (depending on, which enters first) by an authorised inspection station. This examination is to be repeated at the latest one a year and/or 10,000 pressing jobs after the respective inspection. Basically it is to be differentiated between conventional and electronically controlled pressing. With conventional pressing we are talking about a pressing job, which always takes place in the same way with same energy expenditure. In contrast to it, with the electronic controlled pressing by means of chip integrated into the pressing jaw which communicates with electronics of the pressing machine the pressing job is force-optimised and thus gentle to the material, tool, fitting and pipe. In particular with the smaller dimensions, this leads to a substantial increase of the life span of the pressing jaw and the pressing machine fit -Press installation tools For a professional installation of the 3fit -Press system, apart from the pressing tools specified before, a pipe cutter (SANHA article no ) or suitable pipe cutting equipment as well as dimension-dependent calibrating tools with UVUD function ( un-pressed leaky ) (e.g. SANHA article no , article no ) are necessarily for cutting to length and deburring/calibrating the MultiFit -Flex system pipes. Calibrating tools with UVUD function may not be used for 3fit -Push fitting! Calibrating tool with UVUD function pipe cutter, 16/20 mm fit -Push installation tools For a professional installation of the 3fit -Push installation system, only a pipe cutter (SANHA article no ) as well as dimension-dependent calibrating tools (SANHA article no , article no ) are needed for cutting to length and deburring/calibrating the MultiFit -Flex system pipes. Pipe cutter, 16/20 mm calibrating tool, 16 mm and 20 mm In order to ensure an optimum pipe preparation, the sharpness of the gumption blade of the pipe cutter and the perfect surface finish of the calibrating tools must be constantly examined.
3.2 Metallic connections Dimensions up to 67 mm Pipes to be cut to length right-angled with a fine tooth saw. Note: During the processing of stainless steel pipes, the saw blade should not have been used for other ferrous metals. 1 a. Alternative: Separate pipes with pipe cutter. Note: During the processing of stainless steel pipes, pipe cutter and pinion-shaped cutter should not have been used for other ferrous metals. 2. Deburr carefully end of pipe from inside and outside. Note: During the processing of stainless steel pipes the deburring tool should not have been used for other ferrous metals. 3. Insertion depth is to be marked with the respective template on the pipe (for and SANHA -Therm catalogue number 4980, for SANHA catalogue number 4981). Check SANHA system fitting for correct placement of the sealing ring and push the end of pipe into the fitting by rotating it easily until it reaches a complete stop. The fitting outer edge must correlate with the marking.
20 4. Select pressing jaw according to the fitting dimension and insert into the pressing machine. Arrest the locking bolts of the machine. 5. Check whether fitting outer edge correlates with the marking. Open pressing jaw and set the SANHA system fitting right-angled in such a way that the bead of the fitting arrests into the groove of the pressing jaw. 6. Initiate the pressing job by pressing the starting button. The pressing process cannot be interrupted prematurely. Thus, it is ensured that always a permanent tight connection is guaranteed. In case of danger, an interruption of the pressing process is possible by pressing the emergency-stop button 1). 1) After resetting emergency stop situation, a subsequent grouting or if necessary a new grouting must be carried out. With the dimensions 42 mm up to 67 mm - because of the easier handling - pressing slings are used preferably. The installation is affected first like described above for the steps 1 to 3. Then, with the dimensions 42 mm up to 67 mm it is to be continued with the work procedures 7 to In order to ensure the perfect function of the pressing slings, the sliding segments must be mobile. The sliding segments are always back pressed independently by springs into the correct starting position. It ensures that the marking lines on the sliding segments and the bowls in the starting position form a line.
21 8. Select suitable pressing slings and set it in such a way around SANHA system fitting that the bead of the fitting fits into the groove of the pressing sling. Close pressing sling. Push the latch into the plug-in bolt. Make certain that the pressing sling fits tightly into the fitting. Afterwards position the pressing sling by turning it in such a way that the pressing machine can be duly set. 9. Select intermediate jaw suitable to dimension: For the dimensions 42 mm and 54 mm insert the intermediate jaw ZB302 (SANHA catalogue number ) and/or for compatible pressing machines the intermediate jaw ZB202 (SANHA catalogue number 6930) into the pressing machine and close locking bolts. 10. Open the intermediate jaw by pressing the jaw levers down and set the pressing sling in such a way that the claws of the intermediate jaw seize around the pins of the pressing sling. Check whether fitting outer edge correlates with the marking of the insertion depth. Subsequently, start the pressing procedure by pressing the starter button. The pressing procedure cannot be interrupted prematurely. 11. Release the pressing sling by pulling off the arresting latch. Push out the locking pins from the opposite side.
Dimensions 76.1 mm up to 108 mm For the dimensions 76.1 mm, 88.9 mm and 108 mm, the pressing machine ECO 3 (SANHA catalogue number 6900) and/ or as set in the case with six pressing jaws, 15 mm up to 35 mm, (SANHA catalogue number 6901) is necessary. Additionally pressing slings of appropriate dimensions (SANHA catalogue number 6933) as well as for the dimensions 76.1 and 88.9 mm, the intermediate jaw ZB321 (SANHA catalogue number 6931,2) is needed. For the dimension 108 mm, additionally to the appropriate pressing sling (SANHA catalogue number 6933) the intermediate jaw ZB321 (SANHA catalogue number 6931,2) the intermediate jaw ZB322 (SANHA Catalogue number 6931,3) is needed. 1. Cut pipes to right length: Preferably with a planetary saw (picture) or cutting saw. Note: During the processing of stainless steel pipes, the cutting velocity must be so low that no inadmissible heating up of the cutting edge of the stainless steel pipe can take place. The saw blade should not have been used for unalloyed ferrous metals. 1 a. Alternative pipes to be cut to length right-angled with a fine tooth saw. Note: During the processing of stainless steel pipes the saw blade should not have been used for unalloyed ferrous metals. 1 b. Alternative: Cut pipes with pipe cutter. Note: During the processing of stainless steel pipes, pipe cutter and pinion-shaped cutter should not have been used for unalloyed ferrous metals.
23 2. Carefully deburr cutting edges and outside: Preferably with special deburring device (Picture: Novopress pipe deburrer RE1). Alternative: Semicircular smooth file. Note: During the processing of stainless steel pipes the deburring device should not have been used for unalloyed ferrous metals. 3. Mark insertion depth on the pipe by means of appropriate template (for 64 mm and 67 mm SANHA catalogue number 4989, for 76.1 mm up to 108 mm 4990). Dimensions 76.1 mm and 88.9 mm 4. In order to ensure the perfect function of the pressing slings, the sliding segment must be mobile. The sliding segments are always back pressed independently by springs into the correct starting position. It ensures that the marking lines on the sliding segments and the bowls in the starting position form a line 5. Insert the end of pipe into the fitting by rotating it easily until it reaches a complete stop. The fitting outer edge must correlate with the marking.
24 6. Insert intermediate jaw marked ZB321 (SANHA catalogue number ) into the pressing machine and arrest the locking bolts. 7. 8. Release the pressing sling by pulling off the arresting latch. Push out the locking pins from the opposite side.
25 Dimension 108 mm 4. In order to ensure the perfect function of the pressing slings, the sliding segments must be mobile. The sliding segments are always back pressed independently by springs into the correct starting position. It ensures that the marking lines on the sliding segments and the bowls in the starting position form a line. 5. Set the pressing sling with dimension 108 mm, as described in step 6. (76.1 mm-88.9 mm) and first press with intermediate jaw ZB321 (SANHA catalogue number ), as described in step 7 (76.1 mm mm). Remove the intermediate jaw ZB321 from pressing sling by pressing a jaw lever down. Pressing sling remains in the pressing point (pressing sling cannot be released). 6. Insert intermediate jaw ZB322 (see SANHA catalogue number ) into the pressing machine ECO 3 and begin the second pressing procedure. The pressing procedure cannot be interrupted prematurely. 7. Release the pressing sling by pulling off the arresting latch. Push out the locking pins from the opposite side.
Pipe connections with 3fit -Press system fitting Dimensions up to 32 mm 1. Cut the MultiFit -Flex system pipe to length with a pipe cutter or another suitable cutting device rightangled to the centre axle. 2. Select the suitable deburring and calibrating tool to the pipe dimension, insert fully into the pipe and carefully turn clockwise. Thus, the end of pipe is in one process calibrated and chamfered. Remove accruing splinters after completion of the processing step from the end of pipe. IMPORTANT: Only with the special SANHA calibrator with UVUD function (SANHA article no , article no ) is the fitting un-pressed leaky. 3. Check end of pipe for cleanliness and perfect deburring (evident by circulating chamfers with an angle of 15 ). IMPORTANT: Chamfers must be circulating, thus pulling out the O-rings is hindered.
27 4. Insert the suitable fitting on the pipe to a complete stop. The remaining free space to the base body consists of approx. 1 mm. Control of the correct pipe positioning by the opening in the press case - pipe must have reached the arrest position of the fitting! Put on the pressing jaw with the broad groove to the plastic ring of the fitting. 5. Switch on the pressing device the pressing procedure is successfully finished when the entire jaw is reached. Press notches must be even and circumferential. 6. Controlling the pressing With the inspection opening on the case one can recognise the minimum insertion depth of the pipe. On the exterior of the pressing case one can recognise two parallel circular grouting. Between these, a parallel up-bulging is recognizable.
Dimensions 40 mm, mm and 63 mm With the dimensions from 40 mm to 63 mm, only pressing slings with TH-profile may be used. The installation is carried out first as described in the previous section Dimensions up to 32 mm, work procedures 1-3. For the dimensions from 40 mm to 63 mm, continue with the work procedure Select the suitable pressing sling. Make certain that the marking lines on the sliding segment and that on the bowls form a line. If this is not the case, make the sliding segments passable. Then put the pressing sling in such a way around the SANHA press fitting that the broad groove covers the plastic ring. Close the pressing sling. Push the latch into the socket pins. Make certain that the pressing sling sits tightly on fitting. Afterwards turn the pressing sling in such a way that the pressing machine can be set into the position as required. 8. Select the suitable intermediate jaw dimension. With electronic pressing machines for dimensions from 40 mm to 63 mm, insert the intermediate jaw ZB 302 (SANHA catalogue number ) and/or for conventional pressing machines the intermediate jaw ZB 202 (SANHA catalogue number 6930) into the pressing machine and close the locking bolts. 9. Thus, it is ensured that always a permanent tight connection is guaranteed. In case of danger, an interruption of the pressing process is possible by pressing the emergency-stop button 1). 1) After resetting emergency stop situation, a subsequent grouting or if necessary a new grouting must be carried out.
Release the pressing sling by pulling off the arresting latch. Push out the locking pins from the opposite side. 11. Control of the grouting. With the inspection opening on the case one can recognise the minimum insertion depth of the pipe. On the exterior of the pressing case one can recognise two parallel circular grouting. Between these, a parallel up-bulging is recognizable.
Connections with 3fit -Push fitting 1. Cut the MultiFit -Flex system pipe to length with a pipe cutter right-angled to the centre axle. 2. Select the suitable deburring and calibrating tool to the pipe dimension, insert fully into the pipe and carefully turn clockwise. Thus, the end of pipe is in one process calibrated and chamfered. Remove accruing splinters after completion of the processing step from the end of pipe. 3. Check end of pipe for cleanliness and perfect deburring (evident by circulating chamfers with an angle of 15 ), round pipe form and minimum inside diameter (12 mm with DN 10, 16 mm with DN 15). IMPORTANT: Chamfers must be circulating, thus pulling out the O-rings is hindered.
31 4. Insert the suitable fitting into the pipe axially until complete stop. IMPORTANT: Insert fitting axially, so that shifting the first sealing ring out is impossible. 5. Check whether the pipe is visible in the sight window of the plug-in fitting. IMPORTANT: Only if the pipe is pushed in to a complete stop, the LF-function can be activated during the application of pressure. 6. After accomplishing tightness/compression test, check whether the pipe is not visible any more in the sight window of the plug-in fitting, since only then the LF-function is activated and the permanent tightness of the connection is ensured.
