1 JOB TITLE: Scotland Regional Manager, Mosaic LOCATION: Glasgow INTRODUCTION TO THE PRINCE S TRUST Youth charity The Prince s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track. It supports 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by The Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law. The Trust s programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work. Three in four young people supported by The Prince s Trust move into work, education or training. The Prince of Wales s charity has helped 825,000 young people since 1976 and supports over 100 more each day. Our Vision: Every young person should have the chance to succeed. Our Values: Approachable we are open minded and value diversity Non-judgemental we focus on the potential not the past Inspiring we lead by example Empowering we enable positive change Passionate we are absolutely committed to supporting young people CONTEXT OF THE ROLE: In the UK, currently there are more than 950,000 young people aged who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs). The Trust works with around 55,000 young people across the UK. We support young people through teams of staff, volunteers and delivery partners in three English regions and offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each of the regions and countries has a Director and in the countries they are supported by Country Advisory Councils, which are made up of non-executive volunteers. Mosaic is an initiative within Prince s Trust. Mosaic inspires young people from deprived communities to realise their talents and potential. Founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007, Mosaic s mentoring programmes create opportunities for young people growing up in our most deprived communities. Our programmes are delivered by volunteers, and lift the aspirations of young people and close the gap between those aspirations and their attainment. By linking young people with inspirational role models in this way, we boost their confidence, self-efficacy and long-term employability. In doing so, we

2 also aim to increase opportunities for understanding between people of different backgrounds. Our mentoring programmes are tailored to the needs of particular groups: Primary School students our mentors inspire young girls and their mothers to pursue their education and consider the careers available to them. Secondary School students: o Group mentoring, with World of Work visits and exciting presentations. o Enterprise Challenge Competition an intensive programme for students demonstrating leadership potential. Young ex-offenders one-to-one mentoring support is provided for those making the difficult transition from prison back to their communities, coupled with access to employability programmes. The Scotland Manager is responsible for the overall development and implementation of the Mosaic strategy for Scotland, supporting the Mosaic Scotland Leadership Group. The role covers coordination and delivery of Mosaic programmes across Scotland. The initial focus will be delivering the Secondary School programme (Group Mentoring and Enterprise Challenge Competition) across selected schools in Glasgow. The post-holder will be the public face of Mosaic in the region, representing Mosaic across government, business, the Third Sector and community groups. At the heart of the role will be developing partnerships to increase the scale and quality of the Mosaic mentoring and volunteering activity. RESPONSIBLE TO: Area Manager North DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES: a) To have overall responsibility for the successful performance of Mosaic s programmes in Scotland, and ensuring the quality and reputation of Mosaic, in line with the Mosaic Strategic and Business Plans, including: b) Managing and supporting the Scotland Leadership Group (SLG), working with the SLG Chairman to steer, resource and oversee the region s performance (including any local delivery groups where required) c) Managing and overseeing the performance of regional partners and sub-contractors to ensure they meet their targets, maintain the quality and reputation of Mosaic, generate data and reporting in a timely fashion and maintain positive partnership relationships d) Overseeing and delivering on the strategic development of Scotland, to include the development of a range of partnerships, identifying funding opportunities and managing relationships in schools (to include drafting of funding reports and bid-writing) e) Supporting Marcoms by generating regional case studies, Heroes of the Month, Teacher Heroes, website content and PR opportunities/maintenance of social media

3 f) Working alongside Prince s Trust colleagues to coordinate and support the recruitment of schools to host programmes g) Generating opportunities for mentor recruitment, and ongoing oversight and support of their mentoring experience h) Administrative duties commensurate with the programme and the role. i) Promote The Trust s volunteering opportunities locally, both indirectly with volunteering organisations and directly to potential volunteers and follow recruitment guidelines to ensure volunteers reflect diversity in experiences, background, and particularly from under-represented BME groups j) To have overall project management and oversight of programme timelines, including ensuring all key events are planned and executed in a timely fashion and generating resources for them such as business hosts and venues. k) To represent Mosaic professionally both regionally and nationally (where appropriate) across all sectors including government, business, the Third Sector and community groups. At the heart of this will be developing partnerships to increase the scale and quality of the Mosaic mentoring and volunteering activity. l) To ensure tracking and evaluation of programme success, regular visits in line with national, regional and local targets and ensuring all data/feedback reports are generated and collated, including oversight of accurate Trust on Track data for the region and reporting. m) Recruit, train, support and manage the budgeted number of volunteers and to support the needs of The Trust in the South and in line with the stages and processes outlined in the Volunteer Toolkit. Achieve the volunteer KPI s on an annual basis including keeping volunteers active (utilisation) n) To lead on a key business area, ensuring its oversight and development (such as a particular programme as programme expert ), on behalf of the Senior Management Team o) Lead, inspire and motivate the relevant stakeholders in their Area, to achieve results, providing for the development needs of staff within the team. Ensure that work delivered and behaviour of teams are in keeping with our vision and values. p) Organise recognition events for volunteers and implement the Trust s recognition strategy to ensure all volunteers are celebrated. Share local performance on a regular basis to motivate and recognise volunteers. q) Maintain regular contact with volunteers through refresher training, e-communications, reviews and network meetings and ensure all volunteers are PVG checked in line with The Trust s Recruiting Safely Policy

Experience of maintaining a database of volunteers Line management experience Appreciation of Islam and the Muslim Communities within the UK Experience of working with Muslim Communities such as Pakistani/Bangladeshi Knowledge of young Muslims issues in the UK and Scotland area particularly
