1 Krakow Friday 27 th Monday 30 th May 2016, 4 days / 3 nights We are delighted to bring details of our trip to Krakow and its surrounding area. We have a 4 day, 3 night trip staying in the four star Double Tree by Hilton hotel in Krakow and return flights from Liverpool. Liverpool Karakow Friday 27 May depart 0700 arrive 1030 Krakow Liverpool Monday 30 May depart 1800 arrive 1945 On this occasion Liverpool is the only option for our flights. It is necessary to have early morning flights so that we can depart on a Friday. There is always a good deal at the Hampton by Hilton at Liverpool Airport for an overnight stay including parking for the duration of the trip which you can book independently. We have a 20kg per person baggage allowance. We have a full programme for you including a guided tour of the old town, a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau and a visit to the underground Salt Mine of Wieliczka. We will be singing in St Mary s Cathedral, St Peter and Paul s Church and in the largest underground chapel in the world, The chapel of Blessed Kinga. Our itinerary is as follows:- Friday, 27th May Day 1: Arrival and Guided Tour Arrival in Krakow airport in the morning and transfer by bus to the hotel (about 45 min drive). We drop off our luggage at the hotel and then have free time for a quick lunch before starting our guided city tour. At 1pm meet we meet our guide at the hotel and begin the tour of the Old Town lasting approximately four hours. The tour includes one of the most beautiful squares in Europe - Rynek Glowny, the Cloth Hall, St. Mary's Cathedral, the Royal Route and the courtyard of Collegium Maius. Later we will visit the Wawel Castle - the former royal residence of Poland from the 11th Century and the Cathedral with its royal tombs and Sigismond s Bell. The city tour is carried out by public transport and our guide will be with us all the time and hold a group ticket. After the city tour we check in at the Double Tree hotel by Hilton and relax. We have an early dinner included at the hotel. Saturday, 28th May Day 2: Visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. Evening recital at St Mary s Cathedral After breakfast, we have a coach tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau, 70 km west from Krakow (driving time: about 1 hr 30 min each way). It is the largest concentration camp from the Second World War and houses the biggest cemetery in the world, along with a memorial monument and a State museum. 1

2 We return to Krakow in the afternoon and have time to relax and change before the evening concert. At 6pm we transfer by coach to St. Mary s Cathedral. Our recital starts at 7pm, it is unaccompanied. We have free time for dinner after the concert, dinner is not included on this night. You return to the hotel independently after your exploration and dinner. Sunday, 29th May Day 3: A full day tour to the underground salt mine of Wieliczka and singing in the chapel of Blessed Kinga. Evening recital at St Peter and Paul s Church Breakfast at the hotel. Depart by coach to Wieliczka at 9am and upon arrival meet our local guide for the visit to the Salt Mine (less than an hour drive from Krakow). In 1978 the underground Salt Mine of Wieliczka was included in the UNESCO s 1st World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage. The historic underground chambers, shafts and caves, decorated with sculptures and carvings, are connected by 2 kilometers of galleries. The chapel of Blessed Kinga is the largest underground chapel in the world. We will sing here to make this experience memorable. It can be cold in the salt mine, please bring warm clothes with you. After the tour, lasting approximately 3 hours, we have free time for lunch, either at the restaurant situated underground or in one of the restaurants nearby the entrance of the salt mine, an elevator is available on the way up. We return to Krakow at 3pm in order to have a couple of hours at leisure before our next commitment. In the evening we are singing in St. Peter and Paul s Church in Grodzka Street. Our recital starts at 7pm and is accompanied by the organ. Dinner is included tonight after the concert at a local restaurant in the city centre. We have a coach transfer back to the hotel after dinner, at approximately 9.30pm. Monday, 30 th May Day 4: Half day walking tour of Kazimierz, Return home Breakfast at the hotel and check out. At 9am we have an optional half day walking tour of Kazimierz - the best preserved Jewish district in Europe. The tour includes a visit to the Old Synagogue (hosting the Historical Museum of the city of Krakow) and also Schindler s Factory. You return to the hotel with your guide by public transport and have free time for lunch. At 3pm we meet again at the hotel to load the luggage on the bus. At 3.15pm we transfer to Krakow s airport in time for our flight. Rehearsals - Steve Roberts will be the musical director and will take the rehearsals wherever possible. The rehearsals will be as follows:- Sunday 28 February joint with Lake Constance, Saturday 9 April, Sunday 8 May, Saturday 21 May at St Margaret s Parish Centre & Church, Church Lane Horsforth, LS18 5LA to 5.30 pm. The rehearsal fee is 110. If you are already taking part in two other trips in 2016 the rehearsal fee is 80. To Book please complete booking form. Please therefore help us by sending in just one payment each time an instalment is due, eg if you are sharing a twin room please just send in one deposit payment to cover both people, and the same for the interim payment and final balance. However, with regard to the singing fee we can accept payments individually. Please note the prices quoted are based on the current exchange rate. Any extra costs due to fluctuations in currency or future fuel surcharges will be passed on to you and a supplement will be charged. Please make sure we have confirmed your place before you book your transport. Please ensure you supply us with an up to date address for yourself so that we can correspond with you through . Please advise us if you are unable to receive s and we will post things out to you. Please note that all monies are strictly non-refundable and the full balance is due whether you or your party travels or not, therefore please ensure you have adequate insurance.
