2 INSTALLATION GENEAL ULES FO INSTALLATION oute the conductors through the relative ducts except for the lighting and industrial network wires. We recommend the use of coloured conductors to facilitate connection. For the camera entrance panel installation, please, note that: A) The camera operates between -5 and + 50 C; to avoid overheating, protected it from sunlight with some form of shelter. B) Lens must be protecteded against direct light (sun, car headlights, etc.). C) Persons to be framed by camera must be illuminated from the front. If lighting is insufficient use an additional external lamp powered directly by the mains. D) Before closing the unit, clean protective glass and lens, repeat this operation from time to time. Power supplies must be placed in a dry place far from sources of dust and heat. To facilitate check-ups and adjustments, make sure that the place is easily accessible. Fix power supply to wall with proper support and fixing screws provided with the package or inserting it with proper DIN module. Before connecting it, ensure that conductors are not interrupted or short-circuited. The installation should be made with lines separated from electric mains. For higher security level, all the appliances work with low tension and are separated from the electric-mains by a high isolation transformer. It is advisable, anyway, to put a magnetothermic switch with an adequate capacity between the supplying mains and the appliance. When repairing and/or servicing the power supply it will be sufficient to loosen the screws placed on the front side, after having switched off the power. In such a way it is possible to take away the front cover and measure directly the appliance. N.B.: Scrupulously follow the instructions in each wiring diagram and use the required conductor cross-sections in relation to cable run distances. Conversion table of sections-diameters and relative resistances for 100 m standard conductors. Packing material (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene etc.) are dangerous for children. Installation must be carried out according to national safety adjustments. - A safety switch, installed before the power supply, is recommended. - Before connecting the set, ensure that the data on the label correspond to those of the mains. - Use these sets only for the purposes designed, i.e. for video door entry systems. Any other use may be dangerous. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by improper, erroneous or irrational use. - Before cleaning or maintenance, disconnect the set. - In case of failure or faulty operation, disconnect the set and do not open it. - For repairs apply only to the technical assistance centre authorized by the manufacturer. - Safety will be compromised if these instructions are disregarded. - Do not obstruct openings of ventilation/heat exit vents. - Installers must ensure that manuals with the above instructions are left with connected units after installation, for users' information. - All items must only be used for the purposes designed. - This manual must always be enclosed with the installation documents. 10 ENTANCE PANELS "MULTI-SYSTEM" MODULA ENTANCE PANELS The MULTI-SYSTEM modular entrance panel component system has been designed to provide the option of combining panels of various types of audio and video door entry systems using only a few basic components. The panels can be prearranged for flush-mounting and equipped with rainproof cover frames, if required. The same device can be installed on a wall surface using the appropriate back box. These products are constructed in extruded aluminium and coated with a paint, especially resistant to atmospheric attack, and technopolymers with excellent technical characteristics and provide a protection level of IP45. Several modules are available as described below. The modules are easily inserted into the module-holder frame as indicated: Fig. 1 Opening the frame. Fig. 2 Inserting the modules and module separators (detail A). Fig. 3 Closing the frame. Fig. 4 Insertion of internal components on the keypad frame. Fig. 5 Exploded drawing of flushmounted modular entrance panel for video door entry system. Fig. 7 To reach name-tag, remove name-tag holder from the back, as shown. Fig. 6 Exploded drawing of modular entrance panel for audio door entry system for surface wall installation. The module-holder frames are available in 1 module (Art. 9081), 2 modules (Art. 9082) and 3 modules (Art. 9083) When the modular entrance panels are flush-mounted in a wall, the flush mounted back box, Art is used for 1-module version, Art for 2-modules, Art for 3 modules. More modules can be obtained by combining the three models. Back boxes are constructed in hotgalvanized sheet steel with heads made from technopolymers. Each back box is supplied with two fittings permitting you to join several builtin models together (Fig. 1) so various models can be used contemporaneously providing more keys. emoving the plastic from the heads, located in correspondence to the fittings, creates a passage for connecting cables. Installation of camera entrance panels should be made between1.40 and 1.65 meters, measuring from its upper edge to the ground surface (Fig. 2). When more than one panel is used, we recommend using series 91XX hole-cover frame or the series 92XX rainproof cover to ensure that the plates are kept aligned and any damage which might be done to the wall during installation is covered (Fig. 3 and 4). If installation is on the wall surface, a series 93XX back box should be used suitable to the module-holder frames selected, together with the series 92XX rainproof protection of the same size. The choice of a lens with manual or automatic diaphragm must be made bearing in mind the lighting conditions in which the camera is to operate. We recommend, however, the use of lenses with automatic diaphragm series 22/... 22/S... when the camera has to operate against the light or in an environment with widely varying lighting conditions. When selecting the focal length, proceed as follows: 1 Determine the position of the camera and measure the distance between it and the subject. 2 Consult the lens table, and select the dimension of the subject to be filmed (B=base, H=height) in accordance with the distance calculated. Then read the table from right to left in order to identify the lens best suited for the installation in question. 17 DESCIPTION OF SINGLE AND MULTI ESIDENCE VIDEO DOO ENTY SYSTEM POWE SUPPLIE AT TECHNICAL FEATUES Basic power supply for all video-intercom installation with A.C. requirements (except for single or double family use equipment); in grey ABS housing; preset for mounting on cases with DIN 12-module support or with expanding plugs with screws V A.C Hz supply (other voltages on request) - 60VA maximum absorbed power. - 18V D.C. 0.8A monitor supply. - 13V D.C. 0.3A camera supply. - 15V rectified voltage 0.3A continuous duty for push- button illumination (3x24V 3W max) - Door lock output: 15 Vac 1A - intermittent service. - Amplified electric door-entry system. - Timer and automatic disconnection device of monitor previously activated. - Interchangeable cards for quick maintenance. - emovable terminal blocks. POTECTION OF POWE SUPPLY: - PTC SIEMENS type C840 primary coil of transformer, - 1st. secondary coil for internal electronic supply by F 3,15A 250V (F1) fuse. - 2nd. secondary coil for lock supply: F3A 250V (F2) fuse - PTC SIEMENS Type C945 against short-circuits and overloadings on chimes and external call lines. - Electronic protection against short-circuits and overloadings on monitor cable riser. - Electronic protection against overloadings to outdoor unit. ADJUSTMENTS P1 - Activation time adjustment for monitor and camera. P2 - Volume adjustment of speech unit. P3 - Activation time adjustment for electric lock. Dimensions 6580: 208x135x72 - Weight: 1.4 Kgs. EMOVABLE TEMINAL BLOCKS OPEATION The video door entry installation consists of one camera entrance panel, one power supply and one or more monitors. When a push-button on the entrance panel is pressed, the chime rings in the corresponding apartment. Almost immediately the image of the caller appears on the monitor. The camera coverage area is illuminated by invisible infrared LEDS or by a normal bulb incorporated in the camera. If desired, the user may simply raise the handset, communicate with the caller and, if required, activate the door-lock release. In this case, door-opening time may be varied from 1 to 30 seconds using the potentiometer P3. The system turns itself off automatically after a preset time, adjustable from 30 to 90 seconds using potentiometer P1 inside the power supply. If the caller presses another user s push-button, the previously called monitor is automatically disactivated without waiting for the end of the preset time. When testing the installed system, use trimmer P2 to adjust the optimal volume of the speech unit. For simultaneous activation of two or more monitors, one extra power supply (Art. 5582/001 or Art. 6583) must be installed for each additional monitor. A blocking circuit cuts off power to monitors if the line is overloaded or short-circuited. The power supply is also equipped with a specific device to eliminate any buzzing on the voice circuit caused by the use ot wires that are too long and/or too thin. Push-buttons with name-tags are illuminated through output 0-15 on power supply. Up to a maximum number of three 24V 3W bulbs can be connected. An additional transformer, Art. M832 or 832/030 is required for entrance panels with more than three bulbs. The power supply does not have an intercommunication section. It is possible however to set up a network of monitors and/or intercom phones by using the switching module Art. 5583/800 with the standard power supply (diagram vc1959-1). 19

26 INTECOMMUNICATING VIDEO DOO ENTY SYSTEM FO SINGLE ESIDENCE TECHNICAL FEATUES OF POWE SUPPLY AT Basic power supply for all video-intercom installation with possibility of communication with all appliances; in grey ABS housing; preset for mounting on cases with DIN 12-module support or with expanding plugs with screws V A.C. 50Hz supply (other voltages on request) - 60VA maximum absorbed power. - 18V D.C. 0.8A monitor supply. - 13V D.C. 0,3A camera supply. - 15V rectified voltage 0,25A continuous duty for push- button illumination (3x24V 3W max) - Amplified electric door-entry system. Dimensions 6581: 208x135x72 - Weight: 1.4 Kgs. EMOVABLE TEMINAL BLOCKS OPEATION The video door entry installation consists of one camera entrance panel, one power supply and one or more monitors. When a push-button of entrance panel is pressed, the chime rings in the corresponding apartment. Almost immediately the image of the caller appears on the monitor. The camera coverage area is illuminated by invisible infrared LEDS incorporated in the camera. If desired, the user may simply raise the handset, communicate with the caller and, if required, activate the door-lock release. In this case, dooropening time may be varied from 1 to 30 seconds using the potentiometer P3. In this system the user can normally converse with the external entrance panel. If, however, power supplier Art is installed, users can converse with internal units by excluding the entrance panel. The external entrance panel is automatically disconnected by activation of the intercom call. Conversation with the external entrance panel is restored when the handsets of the two internal units are replaced. 28
27 INTECOMMUNICATING VIDEO DOO ENTY SYSTEM FO SINGLE ESIDENCE HOOK UP AND OPEATION The power supply is Art The layout shows a monitor and nine intercommunicating interphones hooked up to each other and the outdoor unit. Either more or fewer monitors and interphones can be hooked up, but the total number must not exceed the number of buttons on the external panel (13). When the number of units is less than 13, only hook up the terminal blocks for the installed units, leaving out the call wires for the others. Example: In the case of 5 intercom units (one monitor and 4 interphones as illustrated in the diagram above), connect terminal boards 1 to 5 to terminals 22 on the monitor and 11 on the interphones. Hook up as shown on the diagram, bearing in mind that the intercommunicating lines of the monitors (from terminal 15), correspond to the interphones (from terminal 4), except for the door lock button which is connected to terminal 9 for the monitors and terminal 7 for the interphones. The monitors have two buzzers, one for entry panel calls (monitor switches on automatically), and another for calls from other internal units. The interphones only have a buzzer for internal calls; install a supplementary bell Art. 2/817 for calls from the entry panel. EXTENAL CALLS: When the entrance panell call buzzer sounds, lift the handset to talk with the caller. INTENAL CALLS: To make a call, lift the handset and press the button corresponding to the internal unit you wish to call. The entry panel is automatically cut out. To answer an external call while communicating with another unit, terminate the internal call by replacing both handsets; now lift the handset to answer the entry panel call. The entry panel is automatically routed in. The button marked with the key symbol on the monitors releases the door lock; the final button is for auxiliary functions. The other buttons are for calls to other internal units. In the case of the interphones, the first button releases the door lock, the other buttons are for internal calls. This unit is supplied with programming bridges preset for automatic operation. When a call is made from one of the two entrance panels, video, audio and electric lock functions are automatically switched. These switching modules have been designed for installations with several outdoor units and may be connected in series. A special device enables activation of installation from inside by an additional push-button on the monitor, and also enables sequential switching of all camera entrance panels. Installations with several switching modules require transformer Art. M832 for each module after the first (see wiring diagram). Wiring between power supply and switching module and between switching modules, in the case of several outdoor units, are facilitated by following harnesses: 2/690 black for wiring between power supply and switching module. 2/591 white for wiring between switching modules. OPEATION This module is equipped with 7 bridges, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6 and P7 which when properly set, modify switching as follows: P1 P2 - P3 P4 - P5 P6 P7 DISACTIVATION OF AUTOMATIC LIGHTING PIOITY If bridge is removed, monitor self-activation blocks possible communication of entrance panel with another user. 1st ENTANCE PANEL PIOITY - 2nd ENTANCE PANEL PIOITY If bridge is removed, corresponding panel looses its priority. (Entrance panel with priority can interrupt communication of any entrance panel without priority). It is advisable to insert ENGAGED-WAIT module Art.2/291 into entrance panel without priority, which takes the place of a button in the outdoor unit. LIGHTING OF VIDEO FUNCTION ON 1st ENTANCE PANEL - LIGHTING OF VIDEO FUNCTION ON 2nd ENTANCE PANEL If bridge is removed, monitors do not come on when calls are made from corresponding entrance panel. (To be used when entrance panel has no camera) EXCLUSION OF 2nd ENTANCE PANEL If bridge is removed, entrance panel is excluded from the cyclical sequence of monitor self-activation. Switchboard operation determines the following operation: during internal operation (key IE released and part I switched on), switchboard allows private conversations between it and the interphones. To communicate from interphones to switchboard: raise handset and press push-button with symbol. To answer from switchboard, operator must press the key corresponding to the light on. Switchboard is provided with a 50Hz acoustic signal indicating busy line. An electronic device also switches all calls from entrance panel to door-keeper's bell. During external operation (key E-l pressed down and part E switched on), switchboard allows conversation without privacy between interphones and entrance panel. Switchboard operator can communicate only with the entrance panel. Calls from entrance panel are sent directly to interphones. The same push-button used to call switchboard operates door lock relaese by a special relay mounted on switchboard. In switchboards with more than 80 lines a multiplier key allows doubling of line number, i.e. every key enables insertion of two different users. To communicate from switchboard to an interphone: - lift handset - choose white or red lamp, corresponding to desired interphone, using multiplier key. - press line selector key, the lamp with the same colour as the multiplier key lamp chosen, comes on. To connect a different line, press multiplier key again. All other functions are the same. To replace a lamp extract it using tweezers {supplied), after removing top part of key.
