3 POSITION OF THE T-SLOT AND THE DOVETAIL GROOVES Series 453 PES cylinders offer the advantage of being able to position the T-slot grooves on the cylinder in 4 different positions with reference to the axes of the pressure supply ports. The position must be specified when defining the cylinder code. 4 VDMA-AFNOR-ISO AIR CYLINDERS 3 to 100 mm MAGNETIC DETECTION AH AL MT The cylinder type PES, dia. 3 to 100 mm, onto which detectors can be mounted, has a force line spectrum according to CNOMO E Field values: 7.5 m Tesla at point MT and a maximum of m Tesla at the fringe of the force line spectrum (1 m Tesla approx. 10 Gauss). vérin AH AL mm Optimal position detection is guaranteed when using our ATEX COMPACT detectors: reed switch or magneto-resistive (MR) type, see P Air cylinders equipped with a magnet (M) designed to operate in combination with magnetic position detectors (DM). 5 STANDARDIZATION OF DIMENSIONS AND INTERCHANGEABILITY STANDARDS OF CYLINDERS 3 to 30 mm INTERCHANGEABILITY within the standard between standards ISO 6431 (year: 1983) The international standards define a cylinder unit equipped with its mountings without any specifications relative to the bare cylinder alone. Interchangeability between manufacturers is achieved by replacing both the cylinder and its mountings. AH AB SA+ XA+ A0 TR JOUCOMATIC''s cylinder, type PES series , complies with this standard. AFNOR NFE VDMA 456 (year: 199) The new standards first define all the external dimensions of a bare cylinder and then the mountings which, when mounted, must comply with the above unit (ISO 6431 cylinder). Full interchangeability between the manufacturers is achieved at every level: bare cylinder, each mounting, complete unit. For full interchangeability with ISO 6431, the VDMA- AFNOR NFE cylinder must be equipped with its mountings, and vice versa. JOUCOMATIC's cylinder, type PES series , complies with this standard. CNOMO /AFNOR NFE (year: 1968) The French standards first define all the external dimensions of a bare cylinder and then the mountings. Full interchangeability between the manufacturers is possible at every level: bare cylinder, each mounting, complete unit. No interchangeability can be achieved between the CNOMO/NFE cylinder (bare or equipped) and the AFNOR NFE or ISO 6431 cylinder, and vice versa. JOUCOMATIC's cylinder, type PCN, complies with this standard. Note: ISO 643 and AFNOR NFE standards apply only to mini-cylinders 8 to 5 mm. 11 P11-9-5

6 DEFINITION OF THE DIAMETER OF A CYLINDER THE DYNAMIC EFFORT DEVELOPED BY A CYLINDER F Pressure x piston area x efficiency The efficiency of a cylinder depends on the diameter of the cylinder, on the pressure and on its mechanical construction. The graph and a chart below show the dynamic effort developed by a cylinder at the piston rod, at various supply pressures. LOAD FACTOR This is the relationship expressed as a percentage between the actual load being moved by the cylinder and the dynamic effort available at the end of the piston rod. actual load Load factor (in %) x 100 dynamic effort For an optimum installation of a cylinder, we recommend a cylinder with a load factor inferior or equal to 75%. EXAMPLE: Calculate a cylinder to lift a load of 130 dan with a pressure of 7 bar (gauge pressure). Theoretical actual load 130 dynamic effort 175 dan Load factor 0.75 The graph below shows the cross over point between the dynamic effort and the supply pressure. The cylinder diameter required will be that where the curve passes this point or the cylinder giving a force immediately above that required. In the example above: 175 dan is between 50 and 63.
