2 Overview ESEMOS MediaMiner is an enterprise grade social media monitoring platform. Using MediaMiner, customers can monitor and track the public perception and sentiment of their brands, products, marketing and even election campaigns. As a campaign management tool, MediaMiner can be used to monitor relevant media content through various social media platforms and to measuring the impact in terms of message response, sentiment and propagation. In detecting real time shifts in social media sentiment and traffic, MediaMiner can instantly notify Enterprise business systems of unfavorable public perceptions. This early notification, and the ability to counter negative impressions with corrective content, helps companies protect their brands and reputation. Additionally, MediaMiner allows a company to rapidly address real customer issues thereby maintaining customer loyalty. The organization of your interests which you want to monitor takes place through monitors and media streams. Monitors identify overlapping themes or categories; media streams project concrete specifications of these issues on specific social networks. An example for your understanding: You are interested in the public opinion of hybrid cars. Therefore you set up a monitor for "hybrid car brands". Now you can add to this monitor media streams for the observation of any models, such as Toyota Prius in a social network such as Facebook. After the set-up of your monitors and media streams immediately and automatically the monitoring in selected social networks will begin. The continuously incoming information is instantly searchable and via freely configurable dashboards flexibly visualizable. MediaMiner has a web-based multilingual graphical user interface to configure monitors and media streams and their analysis using dashboards and search capabilities (Figure 1). Enterprise social media management needs are met through MediaMiner components shown in Figure 1 below:

3 Figure 1 - MediaMiner Web UI for Configuration, Monitoring, and Search The main user interface functions of MediaMiner are: Info Center - Provides an instant summary of recent social media activity for the topics and categories defined by the Monitor Configurator for the account. Monitor Configurator - Configure and manage social media monitors to collect and index content from social media channels based on user defined topics and categories. Dashboard - Set up and view dashboards consisting of charts (line, bar and pie) with freely configurable data series. Set up daily or weekly distributions of dashboards. "Click-To-View" search allows the user to view documents associated chart data points or pie slices. Search - Powerful search features provide unique insight on indexed social media content. Faceting provides additional filtering based on message topic, sentiment, keywords, author, media channel and other fields. Account Management - Add, modify and delete accounts and associated users. Assign roles and privileges to users.

4 Key Features Support for multiple social media platforms MediaMiner is a modular system that currently supports Twitter, Facebook and Blogs. Support for Google+ and other media types will be announced shortly. Natural language processing (NLP) Language detection, keyword detection and entity extraction capabilities are used to identify relevant topics in documents. MediaMiner supports a wide range of document sizes - from short tweets to large blogs. Sentiment analysis Sentiment analysis for German and English (positive, negative or neutral) is applied to topics extracted from social media messages and documents. Multilingual Support Messages posted on most social media platforms are written in many different languages. MediaMiner applies language detection, language specific NLP and Sentiment analysis functionality to each incoming message. Real time analytics The MediaMiner Dashboard provides real time access to key performance indicators for topics and social media campaigns. Flexible charting tools allow user configuration of the dashboard layout, and the selection of plots for a given chart. Historical analysis Social media content, relationships between messages and sentiment analysis results are stored in MediaMiners' central data warehouse. Using the MediaMiner Dashboard, users can render long term data in charts and tables to identify trends for selected topics and media campaigns. Advanced Search Advanced search features, such as faceting, URL recognition, in- result navigation facilitate exploring the many dimensions associated with each social media message. Multi-Account and Multi-user Management MediaMiner is a multi-client, multiuser system allowing for two kinds of operations Software as a Service (SaaS) or Onsite (Third Party) operation. MediaMiner can be operated entirely through its web-based, localized and multi-lingual user interface
