1 Marketo App Integration in Hootsuite: User Guide The Marketo-Hootsuite integration provides joint enterprise customers the capability to connect social interactions from the Hootsuite dashboard directly into their lead database in Marketo. Key social insights add a new layer of detailed data for enhanced leads, simplifying social lead generation and offering a clearer view of where prospects are in the buying cycle. The integration helps enterprises: Generate qualified leads from social: Discover prospects on social channels in Hootsuite and easily add them to a lead database in Marketo. Follow up on key prospects with relevant campaigns by integrating with existing keyword searches and engagement monitoring. Qualify leads faster with social scoring: Capture key social media activity and conversations to discover prime opportunities for engagement using Hootsuite. Use social data to search social media users against existing prospects. Gain deeper insight into buyers: Enrich lead data with social media insights to engage in more meaningful conversations with customers and prospects. Use Hootsuite to update lead records with social profiles, messages, and conversation data that provides deeper context and helps progress leads through the funnel. This guide will help you setup and start using the Marketo integration within your Hootsuite dashboard. Note: In order to use the Marketo app in Hootsuite, you must have an existing Marketo account as well as a Hootsuite Enterprise account. 2 Adding the Marketo app to your Hootsuite Dashboard 1. Log into your Hootsuite account. 2. Visit the App Directory in the Hootsuite dashboard, located on the navigation bar left-hand side of the Hootsuite dashboard. 3. In the App Directory popup, search for the Marketo app. 2

3 4. Click on the Install button for the Marketo app. 5. A new dialog will popup showing the Marketo app and associated plugins have been successfully installed to your Hootsuite dashboard. Click Finish to complete the installation process. 3

4 Connecting your Marketo account There are two access points for the Marketo app, as described and illustrated below. The first time you access the Marketo app from one of these access points, you will need to authenticate your Marketo account (see step 2 below for authentication details). Access Point 1 - Social Profile Avatar Dropdown Click a social profile avatar (Twitter and Facebook supported) in a Hootsuite stream, and click the Marketo Lead option in the dropdown menu. Access Point 2 - Social Message Dropdown Click the dropdown arrow right-hand side of a social message (Twitter and Facebook supported) in a Hootsuite stream, and click the Log Marketo Activity option in the dropdown menu. 4

5 There are 3 simple steps to be completed to successfully authenticate your Marketo account, as described and illustrated below: 1. Select whether you are or are not an existing Marketo customer. If not an existing Marketo customer please contact sales@marketo.com for more information. 2. Create a custom service in your Marketo account. More information on creating a custom service can be found here rest/custom-service/ or contact enable-hootsuite@ marketo.com for assistance getting your custom service setup. 5

6 3. Once your custom service is created in Marketo, you must enter the following information to successfully connect (this is a one-time setup step): Client ID, Client Secret, Munchkin ID. Once this information is entered, click Submit. You are now set to begin using the Marketo app in Hootsuite! Using the Marketo Integration As outlined above, there are two access points for the Marketo integration. These access points allow you to: 1. Create New Leads in Marketo (accessed via Marketo Lead access point as outlined above). New Leads can be created in Marketo from social profile data for Twitter or Facebook profiles. You can also search your Marketo Lead database to see a list of matching Leads for a particular social profile - the app queries the Marketo Lead database for leads that contain a matching social network ID. The screenshot below illustrates the creation of a New Lead in your Marketo Lead database. After clicking Add, the new Lead will successfully be added to your Marketo Lead database. If no matching Lead records are found, the application will allow you to create a new Lead record in Marketo using the social profile data in Hootsuite. If matching Lead records are found, the application will allow you to select the Lead you would like to view details for, and will also allow you to update certain information for that Lead record, based on social profile data in Hootsuite. 6

7 2. Log Social Messages as Social Activities in Marketo (accessed via Log Marketo Activity access point as outlined above). Social messages can be logged as Social Activities to Lead records in Marketo from Twitter and Facebook streams in Hootsuite. Again, the app will query your Marketo Lead database for any matching records (based on social network ID), and display matching Lead records in the Hootsuite dashboard that a social message can be logged to. The screenshot below illustrates Logging a Social Message as a Social Activity to a Marketo Lead record. After clicking Log Activity, the social message will successfully be added as a Social Activity to the Lead record in your Marketo database. NOTE: the Marketo app also allows you to simultaneously create a New Lead record in Marketo and log a social message as a Social Activity as illustrated below. This assumes no matching Lead records were found during the Marketo database query.
