Charlotte began in high school while John first picked up an oar as a freshman at Cornell University. Both have rowed on the U.S. National Team, winning several international medals. Charlotte s coaching career has taken her west to Stanford University before heading back east to Boston University and then Cornell University. John remained close to home, coaching at his alma mater, first as the frosh lightweight coach, then varsity lightweight and finally varsity women, for 18 years. It was at Cornell that Charlotte and John first met and then married in In 1998, Charlotte and John tried something a little different and started coaching sculling at a master's camp. They enjoyed it so much that they immediately set out to start a sculling camp of their own. Calm Waters Rowing is the culmination of two years of extensive searching and planning.

9 NORTHEAST ROWING CENTER Crescent Lake Raymond, Maine Session 1 (Sweep) Aug , 2013 Session 2 (Sculling) Aug , 2013 The Northeast Rowing Center provides the opportunity in Session 1 for junior rowers & coxswains to obtain professional, personal instruction to significantly improve technical rowing/coxing ability. 10 THE FLORIDA ROWING CENTER Wellington, FL Special Announcement: A new book release: Sculling in a Nutshell by FRC Coach, Gordon Hamilton. Visit FRC News. The Florida Rowing Center, established in 1985, offers sculling instruction for competitors and beginners. The center operates from mid-december to May attracting experienced and beginner scullers from the United States, Canada, and Europe. Professional coaching, first rate facilities, and a protected 1.5- mile long lake in sunny Palm Beach County make the Florida Rowing Center winter s premier sculling destination. Masters, scholastic, elite, and recreational rowers will improve their single sculling skills on Lake Wellington through lessons with our coaches, by practicing drills, and with daily individual video critique of technique. Our coaches place a priority on a personal approach and creating a positive learning environment. Small groups allow each sculler to work closely with our staff to accomplish their goals for the session. There is a choice of accomodations near the center. Minutes from quality beaches, an international airport, and major thoroughfares, the Florida Rowing Center is conveniently located. Read through our web site and find out more about our programs, location, coaching staff, equipment, and schedule. A visit to the Florida Rowing Center is a perfect choice if you want to improve your sculling skills for competition or recreation. The group then goes to a classroom for 1 to 2 hours of detailed video review and discussion of technique. Following the classroom instruction, scullers return to the lake for a second coached session on the water focused on practice, drills, and individual attention. The second session lasts 90 to120 minutes. A double scull is also available for use upon request. Sessions start promptly at 7:30 am. Please arrive on time.
