1 WAYFARER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 BRIXHAM YACHT CLUB 19 th 24 th JULY Principal Sponsors Hartley Boats and Craftinsure PROVISIONAL NOTICE OF RACE 1. The organising authority for the 2015 Wayfarer National Championships is the Brixham Yacht Club. The UKWA Event Organiser is Alan Chaplin (Racing Secretary) assisted by Monica Schaefer (Marketing Officer and Irish Rep). RULES 2. The Championship will be governed by the rules as defined in the Rules of Sailing ( ) as modified. GPS TRACKING 3. Boats may be required to carry GPS trackers which will be supplied by the organising authority. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 4.1 The Championship is open to boats of the Wayfarer Class. The person in charge of the boat must be a member of the UKWA. Members of NedWA, SWS or the National Governing body of another country may enter as guests but will not be eligible for UKWA trophies but a trophy donated by Hartley boats will be awarded to the leading guest. 4.2 Eligible boats may enter by to a.chaplin700@gmail.com or by post to: Alan Chaplin, Crosstrees, Handford Way, Horsham, UK RH13 6PD. Entry forms will be found on the UKWA web-site. 4.3 There is no restriction on the number of boats that can enter. 4.4 Competitors who are under 18 before and including the last day of the regatta must have a declaration completed by parent or guardian before they will be allowed to compete. The declaration will be available at registration. 4.5 The Championship fleet will be subdivided into gold, silver and bronze fleets (that will all race together). The UKWA event organisers will decide the composition of the silver fleet, based on competitors performances in the first two championship races. The bronze fleet will consist of novice or cruising competitors who have not completed regularly at open meetings outside their own club. The Event Organisers reserve the right to move bronze fleet entrants to the silver or gold fleets based on their performance in the first two races. The decision to move an entrant to the silver or gold fleet shall not be grounds for Redress (RRS 62). FEES 5. 1 The closing date for receipt of entries is Sunday 12 th July Competitors who enter on or before 1st June 2015 will qualify for a discounted entry fee of 110 (Gold and Silver Fleets) or 95 (Bronze Fleet) per boat. The entry fee after 1 st June 2015 but before 1 st July 2015 will be 140 Gold/Silver and 110 Bronze, thereafter the full entry fee of 180 will apply. Entries will be accepted until Sunday 12 th July. The organising authority may accept late entries after the closing date but this discretion will only be used in exceptional circumstances and may attract an additional entry fee.

2 SCHEDULE 6.1 Registration: Will be at Brixham Yacht Club between 10:00 and 18:00 on Sunday 19th July 2015 and between 09:00 and 10:00 on Monday 20th July Competitor Briefing: There will be a briefing for competitors at 10.00hrs on Monday 20th July 2015 in Brixham Yacht Club. 6.3 Dates of Racing from Sunday 19 th July 2015 to Friday 24th July 2015 inclusive. MEASUREMENT 7.1 Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate and it is intended to weigh % of the fleet before racing their numbers being drawn by lot and published on the UKWA web-site before 1st July. A note of the correctors will be taken at registration and their presence checked during the week. The boom blackband will also be checked. Boats other than those drawn may be weighed if they so wish before they erect their masts. 7.2 Only certified sails may be used during the regatta. 7.3 All boats are liable to equipment checks on arrival or measured at any time during the Championship. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 8.1 Sailing Instructions will be issued at Registration and may be available beforehand on the UKWA website VENUE AND RACING AREA 9.1 The venue will be Brixham Yacht Club, Overgang Road, Brixham, Devon TQ5 8AR. 9.2 The Race Area will be in Torbay. Reference Admiralty Chart 26.and will usually be in but not limited to the area as shown in Appendix 1 THE COURSES 10.1 The courses will be shown in the Sailing Instructions and will be triangle/sausage type courses. SCORING 11.1 The low point system of Appendix A will apply 11.2 Ten races are scheduled. Two races shall be completed to constitute a valid Championship.

4 11.3 When fewer than 3 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. This changes rule A When 3 to 7 races have been completed; a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score When 8 or more races have been completed; a boat s score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst 2 scores. This changes rule A2. BERTHING / BOAT STORAGE 12.1 A Dinghy park will be established near the dinghy park at the bottom of Brixham Yacht Club adjacent to the slipway accessed via Oxen Cove Car Park. Boats should stay within the assigned dinghy park area Large or double stacking trailer or any trailer that the launching trolley and fully rigged boat cannot lay upon will be required to be moved off site. Details of Large trailer storage will be issued before July 18 th. There will be a nominal charge of 15 for a week s off-site storage. RADIO COMMUNICATION 13.1 Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. PRIZES 14.1 Prizes will be awarded the winner of the regatta. Prizes may also be awarded to the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets. Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the UKWA. RISK STATEMENT 15.1 Rule 4 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: "The responsibility for a boat s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone." 15.2 Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event; They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore; They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions; Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate; The provision of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;

5 (f) (g) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances; They are responsible for ensuring that their boat is equipped and seaworthy so as to be able to face conditions that they may incur, that their crew is sufficient in experience and fitness to withstand such weather. INSPECTIONS The fact the race committee conducts inspections of a boat does not reduce the responsibilities of each competitor in this Notice of Race INSURANCE 16.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 3,000,000 per event or the equivalent. TELEVISION AND MEDIA 17.1 By participating in the event, competitors automatically grant to the OA, the Wayfarer Class Association and any event sponsors the right, in perpetuity, to make and show, at their discretion, any photography, audio And video recordings, and any other reproductions of them made at the venue or on the water from arrival at the venue, until their final departure, without compensation. Web: End of Notice of Race ADDITIONAL INDFORMATION EVENT INFORMATION 1 The Regatta Race Office will be the Holman Room an outside office on the harbour side of the club, near the top of the steps from the main clubhouse to the dinghy compound. 2 The Regatta Race Office will be open from 10:00 18:00 on Sunday 19th July and from until the expiry of Protest Time Limit (unless extended by the race committee) on Monday 20th July and from until the expiry of Protest Time Limit (unless extended by the race committee Tuesday 21st Friday 24th July.

6 3 Notices to Competitors will be posted on the Official Notice Board which is located in the window area of the Regatta Office. 4 While every effort will be made to ensure the Brixham Yacht Club and UKWA web sites have current and accurate information this cannot be guaranteed. Official information and amendments to the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions as well as results and protest information will be posted on this Notice Board. 5 All times will be in BST taken from GPS time. BRIXHAM HARBOUR All competitors should be aware that Brixham is a commercial working port and regard should be given to commercial craft including ferries and fishing vessels MEMBERSHIP AND LIABILITY All competitors will be deemed to be temporary members of Brixham Yacht Club (BYC) during the event and as such shall abide by all the Club's rules and bye-laws. Members of the Class, their guests and visitors are entirely welcome to use the club premises and any other facilities of the club but do so entirely at their own risk. PARKING AND CAMPER VANS AT BYC Brixham Yacht Club regrets that the members car parks on Overgang Road are not available for competitors car parking. Daily car parking is available in the Council Oxen Cove pay and display car park adjacent to the BYC dinghy compound. Weekly Parking permits are available for this car park and any other Brixham and Torbay off road Car Park through the Tourist Information Office in Brixham which is in Hobnobs gift shop on the Quay. Tel Mobile homes/camper vans may not be used for sleeping overnight on the BYC premises, or the immediate vicinity which includes the adjacent council car park (unless permission for parking Camper vans in Council Car parks has been granted by Torbay Parking). DOGS AT BYC Well behaved dogs are welcome at BYC but are not permitted in the main club house (except guide dogs). Owners are responsible for the behaviour (and any clearing up after) of dogs while on the premises or vicinity of BYC SOCIAL PROGRAM A full social program is being arranged and details will be available on the Brixham Yacht Club and Class Championship websites. It is intended that lite bites will be provided immediately upon returning ashore after sailing each day. Snacks and drinks to be taken afloat are available daily in the club house. Evening meals will be available in the main clubhouse. ACTIVITIES There are plenty of external activities to entertain both adults and children in the area with plenty of beaches as well as an extensive range of attractions in the Torbay area. Details of some of these activities will be available on the Brixham Yacht Club and class championship websites.

7 ACCOMMODATION There is plenty of accommodation in and around Brixham including camping ranging from tent, caravan and motor home pitches, static caravans, bed and breakfast, small hotels and holiday lets. The link below is not the only source of accommodation but it may be useful.
