6 Top Ten Tips On making the most of the Liberal Arts College (LAC) Experience 10. Find out who the best professors are and take classes from some of them, regardless of the subject. Great professors tend to make any subject fascinating. You ll remember those classes and may even find a new passion! 9. Take advantage of the many support services available to students. LAC s excel in the level of support they offer, be it advising, writing assistance, tutoring, etc. Don t hesitate to ask for help! 8. Don t overdo the extracurricular activities, particularly during first year. Pace yourself, choose a few clubs, but focus on your studies. Don t overcommit. Less is often more. 7. Look for balance in your course selection. Try to choose a variety of courses each semester both in terms of suject matter (different topics and ways of thinking) as well as the type of work required (long papers, nightly homework, problem sets). 6. Consider doing some kind of original research during your college years. Become involved in a research project or start one with one of your professors. You ll gain skills and knowledge you ll need when applying to the work force and/or graduate school. 5. Decide what you want to do and then seek ways to make it happen. Resources are genreally available throughout the institution to help with any opportunity that pops us, such as an internship. 4. Meet and get to know as many international students as possible. You ll make great friends, will be exposed to new perspectives, and have a place to stay all over the world! 3. Take advantage of your school s alumni network and career services office. Alumni love giving back to their alma mater, so take advantage of that. 2. Consider doing some community service during college. Get to know your community by helping it and meet knew people. 1. Relax, enjoy the experience, and take advantage of as much as you can. ~Taken from Top Ten Tip on Making the Most of the Liberal Arts College (LAC) Experience
