Applicant must be an Alaskan resident of at least two years duration prior to applying for the scholarship. Applicant must be accepted for admission to an accredited university or post-secondary vocational school and must plan to pursue a career in the Alaska hospitality industry. The JJ Klein supports Alaskan high school graduates pursuing post-secondary education; however, with a unique caveat. Preference will be given to applicants with a GPA from 2.0 to 3.2; those with GPAs above 3.5 will not be considered. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need. Applicant must have volunteered at least 24 hours to a BEHS organization, club, or team outside of school hours. Must be enrolled for a full time program in a college, university, or vo/tech school. Any graduating senior who plans to attend the University of Alaska (any campus) or Alaska Pacific University. You must have attended the African American Leadership Conference to apply. Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Fairbanks area high school. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Must have actively participated in high school sanctioned cross country or track during the 2014/2015 school year. Must be accepted to an institution of higher learning.
