Scholarships Education First Credit Union Scholarship is for current members of Education First Credit Union. Education First Credit Union will be awarding five academic scholarships for $1,000. Students must complete an application and submit an essay up to four pages to the following question: In our current economic climate, what should credit unions do to make a difference in their communities? Applications must be postmarked or received by February 16, The application is available in the scholarship book in the guidance office. Wittenberg University Music Scholarship Auditions Several dozen renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 each are awarded each year, available to all students regardless of major, for orchestral and band instruments, piano, and voice, with audition date up to mid-march For audition requirements go to The Ohio State University Eminence Fellows Program is for students seeking undergraduate admission to Ohio State s Columbus campus and to the University Honors Program. Once the application for admission is complete, students must then submit the application for the Eminence Scholarship. The program provides a full cost-of-attendance scholarship for four years at Ohio State, plus a $3,000 enrichment grant made available after the first year of successful study. Students selected for the Eminence Fellows Program rank in the top three percent of their high school classes, score a 34 and higher on the ACT or a 1520 and higher on the Math and Critical Reading sections of the SAT, and present evidence of leadership ability both in and out of the classroom. 2 Ohio Newspapers Foundation 2013 Minority Journalism Scholarship is a $1,500 scholarship to be awarded to a minority high school senior in Ohio who plans to pursue a newspaper journalism career. Awardee must be enrolled as a college freshman at an Ohio college or university for the school year. A minimum high school grade point average of 2.5 is required. Applicants must be African American, Hispanic, Asian American or American Indian. Students must demonstrate the ability to write clearly in an autobiography of 750 to 1000 words describing academic and career interests, awards, extracurricular activities and any journalism-related activities. Application must be postmarked by March 31, The application is available in the scholarship book in the guidance office. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is for students who plan to pursue a career in the automotive or related industries. The applicant must plan to major in a specified course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology or select Design and Business-related programs of study. Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following factors: Academic achievement, financial need, volunteer work, and work experience. One-thousand Buick Achievers Scholarships of $2,000 and 100 renewable Buick Achievers National Scholarships of up to $25,000 per year will be awarded. To register for an application, please go to The deadline to submit the application is February 28, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. AES Scholarship is available to high school seniors on the basis of character as determined by evaluation of an essay submitted by the student. Students must submit an essay of between 500 to 1000 words to the following prompt: Reflecting on your personal experiences and/or circumstances, tell us something about yourself that distinguishes you as a potential scholarship candidate. The William D. Squires Scholarship is a need-based scholarship whose applicant s FAFSA Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) must be less than $8,000. Twelve scholarships will be awarded. The award is $3,000 per year and is renewable with up to four years. Ideal candidates know their career goal and are highly motivated to reach their goal and have good character. A minimum of 3.2 cumulative GPA is required. The deadline to submit the application is April 5, For a copy of the scholarship application and more information, go to Builders Exchange Scholarship Program Application are available to high school seniors who plan to pursue a degree in construction with majors ranging from architecture to landscaping to engineering to project management and beyond. The amount can be as much as $4,000. Applicants are evaluated on the following criteria: Academic achievement, community and school involvement, financial need, relationship of the student s field of study to the construction industry, potential future impact of the student on the central Ohio construction community, and quality of the application. 3 Columbus State Community College Scholarships - Columbus State Community College (CSCC) offers the following scholarships to high school seniors: Partnership Scholarship is $1,500 per year renewable scholarship. SUCCESS Scholarships is a $1,000 nonrenewable scholarship. Tech Prep Scholarships is a $1,500 per year renewable scholarship. These programs are designed to provide merit-based financial aid to students who begin enrollment Autumn semester and continue through Spring semester. Recipients are selected as a result of a competitive process including a review of high school grades, extracurricular activities and personal statements. The deadline to submit the application is March 1, Application found by going to Preferred Pathway Scholars Scholarship The first 200 students accepted to the Autumn, 2013, scholar cohort are eligible to receive $500 in scholarships. Preferred Pathway Scholars are emerging Columbus State Community College (CSCC) student leaders participating in a closely advised program designed to complement the Preferred Pathway partnership with The Ohio State University. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must apply and be accepted to CSCC, apply and be accepted to the Scholars program, and meet academic standards and ongoing participation requirements to retain the scholarship. For more details and the online application, please visit The Pipeline to Health Science Careers is a collaborative program between Columbus State Community College (CSCC) and The Ohio State University (OSU) aimed at increasing opportunities for economically disadvantaged students to pursue careers in the health sciences. The program covers tuition and fees for two years at CSCC and two years at OSU. The deadline is March 1, For more details and the online application, please visit Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Department of Biological Sciences Scholarship(s) is available to incoming freshmen majoring in biology. The scholarships are available to students only by direct application to the Biological Sciences Department. At least one $500 scholarship will be offered on a competitive basis. Science And Math Education in ACTION Scholarship Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Are you a high school senior interested in pursuing a career as a science and/or math teacher? If so, you are encouraged to explore the Science and Math Education in ACTION scholarship program at BGSU. This Choose Ohio First four-year scholarship program offers incoming students nearly $20,000 in funding plus innovative experiences throughout their four years to prepare them to be exceptional teachers. 4 ArtSmart High School Scholarship Competition - High school students graduating in 2013 who demonstrate ability and commitment in one of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh's programs of study are eligible to compete for national scholarships ranging from $4,000 to approximately $15,000. Each year, the college awards more than $250,000 in national scholarships through this program. Students who earn scholarship awards in The Art Institute of Pittsburgh ArtSmart 2013 Competition will remain eligible to compete in other scholarship competitions sponsored by The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Entrants may enter one piece only. Entries may include but are not limited to painting, photography, design, drawings, digital compositions, sculptures, ceramics, and 3D models. Choose OHIO First (CFO) STEM Teacher Education Scholarship Program - Ohio Northern University (ONU) and the Ohio Board of Regents have partnered to offer multi-year, renewable scholarships of up to $6,500 annually for Ohio students who major in education within a STEM field. The scholarships are awarded to promising undergraduates who are interested in pursuing a major in science, technology, engineering or mathematics with the goal of becoming a teacher. As an added bonus, ONU is including up to an additional $1,000 for textbooks for Choose Ohio First Scholars for the freshman year. To receive full consideration, COF applicants must complete the application with a brief (one-page) essay stating your career plans and how the COF scholarship will help you meet those goals. College application Processing Time As long as you provided your application materials (letters of recommendation, transcript release, essays, etc) to your counselor prior to the post-marked deadline, we DID INDEED mail in your transcript. However all colleges and universities process these incoming materials differently. Please be patient as your college processes your application materials. Although you may receive s or letters stating that your transcript has not been received by your colleges, it has been sent. Generally it takes colleges/universities ten working days to process transcripts. If you would like to verify the date that Watterson mailed your application materials, please see your counselor or feel free to call the college or university admission office to check the status of your application. College Goal Sunday! College Goal Sunday is February 10, 2013, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at five locations: Ohio Dominican University, DeVry University, Columbus State Columbus Campus Davison Hall (Rooms 104 & 107), Columbus State Delaware Campus, and Central Crossing High School (Grove City).
