1 The Psychology Department is now accepting applications for scholarships for the academic year. Scholarship winners will be announced in Spring, Completed scholarship applications should be turned in to the Psychology Department office, Polk 40, by Friday February 27 th, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Complete applications should include the following: Application Check List Completed application form (pdf application can be found on the Psychology website. Click into Undergraduate Studies, Scholarships, and then pdf application.) Current STAR report 2-3 page double-spaced essay discussing educational and career plans, including whether you plan to attend graduate school in psychology. Students should also discuss how their experiences outside of college classes (e.g., research, volunteer, work, club activities) have contributed to their educational experience. This is particularly important for the Kogutek Scholarship. Finally, the essay must discuss financial need. Two faculty recommendation forms (at least one must be from a psychology faculty member). Give the form to the faculty member at least a week before the February 27 th 2015 deadline and ask them to turn it in to Mary Bleser in the Psychology Department office, Polk 40. Note: A letter is not required, only the form Descriptions of Scholarships The will award one $600 scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must: Be a sophomore or junior majoring in Psychology Have a grade point average of 3.00 or better Demonstrate financial need The will award one $800 scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must: Be a full-time enrolled Psychology major Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Have a grade point average of 3.4 or better Demonstrate financial need The will award one $1000 scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Participation in University-wide extra-curricular activities (excluding athletics) will be a strong consideration in this award. Applicants must: Be a full-time enrolled Psychology major Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Demonstrate financial need Have a grade point average of 3.0 or better Demonstrate commitment to the field of Psychology Be planning to attend graduate study in Psychology 1

2 The Som N. Ghei and Ram Kaur Ghei Scholarship Fund will award one $2,000 scholarship to a female psychology major payable toward tuition the following fall. The family designated this scholarship for female students in honor of the donor s grandmother who was never able to obtain an education. Applicants must: Be full-time enrolled Psychology majors Have one to three semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Have a grade point average of 3.00 or better Demonstrate financial need Be able to demonstrate breadth of interest within and beyond psychology Be planning to attend graduate school in psychology If the student who receives this scholarship is accepted into the graduate program in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, she is eligible for an additional $1500 to be applied to tuition in the first semester of full-time graduate study. 2
