Several scholarships are available. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1 Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0

Criteria: Scholarship is available to all high school seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating their own business while in high school. Criteria: Scholarships are available to Texas High School graduating seniors, Community College attendees, and university upperclassmen who have previously graduated from a Texas High School. Deadline: January 31, 2009 The Dennis Patrick Foundation Educational Scholarship (online applications) Eligible Applicant: 2009 high school graduate Maintained a B average throughout high school Applicant must have participated in their high school athletic sport program for the last 2 years of his/her high school career Applicant cannot have accepted a full scholarship from other awards Award must be used for higher education at a trade school/vocational school or an accredited
3 2/or4 year college KFC Colonel s Scholars Program Amount: A scholarship worth up to $5,000 per year for tuition, fees, books and room and board. Criteria: To qualify, a student must meet the following criteria: -Graduating from a high school this academic school year -Maintain a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher -Enrolling in a public, in-state college or university for the Fall 2009 semester -Pursuing a bachelor s degree -A US citizen or permanent resident Contact: Students complete their application online at Applications will be available from December 1, 2008 through February 10, Deadline: February 10, 2009 The National Co-op Scholarship Program Amount: The National Commission will award 200 merit scholarships of $6,000 each, for a total renewable value of $5,000,000. Criteria: Students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale, and they must apply and be accepted at one of the ten NCCE Partner Colleges and Universities listed at all of which have strong co-op programs. Contact: For a scholarship application or to complete your application online, go to Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by February 15, 2009 UT Arlington Merit Scholarships Amount: Upon admission to the University of Texas at Arlington, eligible undergraduate students will receive automatic consideration for general academic scholarships through the UT Arlington Scholarship Office. The following is a list of the Scholarships offered: 1 President s Charter - $8,000 for up to 4 yrs. 2 Outstanding Freshman - $6,000 for up to 4 yrs. 3 Freshman Honors - $8,000 for up to 4 yrs. 4 Top 10% Award - $2,000 for up to 4 yrs. 5 Top 50% Award - $4,000 for up to 4 yrs. 6 Campus Leaders - $2,000 for up to 4 yrs. 7 Honors College full tuition, fees, and housing costs up to $20,000 Contact: Go to for specific criteria for each scholarship available. Deadline: The deadline to be admitted for scholarship consideration for the academic year is February 16, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Scholarship Program Amount: Over $3.3 million can be awarded to graduating seniors across the country. Criteria: The RMHC Scholarship Program is comprised of 4 individual scholarship programs including: - RMHC/ASIA - RMHC/African American Future Achievers - RMHC/HACER (Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources) - RMHC Scholars Each individual scholarship has specific criteria that individuals must meet to apply. Deadline: The deadline for submitting applications is February 16, 2009 The Goss-Michael Foundation Texas State Scholarship Amount: A merit-based scholarship in the amount of $5,000 that will be given directly to the student s chosen college or university upon acceptance. Criteria: Applicant must be a graduating senior in Texas who will pursue a fine arts degree in college. Contact: Applicants should submit the following: -A completed scholarship application form available in the counseling office. -An unofficial high school transcript -1,000 Word Essay Why I Deserve this Scholarship -Artist s statement -CD of 10 original works Deadline: Applications will be accepted at the Goss-Michael Foundation no later than 6:00 pm on March 31, The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program Amount: Several scholarships ranging from $18,000 to $1,500 are awarded Criteria: Students are eligible to participate in the American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program if they are citizens or lawful residents of the United States.
