3 Cambodia - Veterinary Summer School Abroad 11 days / 10 nights Phnom Penh > Kratie > Mondulkiri > Kompong Thom > Siem Reap This program is designed to give students a veterinary overview of Cambodia s biodiversity. Cambodia lies entirely within the tropics, lending the country capable of housing a wide variety of plants and animals. Students will immerse themselves in the daily routine of elephants at a rescue center and have the opportunity to observe the critically endangered Mekong Dolphins. Students will also visit important historical sites and learn about life in modern-day Cambodia. - A visit to the Angkor Centre for Concervancy of Biodiversity and the Butterfly Sanctuary - Participation in activities at the Elephant Valley Project and Rescue Center - Visit to the Toul Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crimes, also known an S-21 - Explore Angkor Wat and the Bayon Temple, among others - Partake in a Khmer Village homestay and experience life in a local community Accommodation: 2 nights in a 3-star hotel in Phnom Penh, 1 night in a 2-star hotel in Kratie, 4 nights in basic dorm s in Mondulkiri, 1 night in basic dorm in Kompong Thom and 2 nights in a 3-star hotel in Siem Reap Meals: Special welcome dinner in Phnom Penh and farewell dinner in Siem Reap. Students will become familiar with the ins and outs of food preparation in this part of the world. They will particiapte in multiple cooking classes and visit several markets to find out how to perfectly blend traditional Southeast Asian flavors. 7 Service Learning Abroad - Indonesia 14 days / 12 nights Ubud > Nusa Lembongan, Bali This program is designed to give students the opportunity to gain knowledge of themselves and the world around them through hands-on service learning activities. Students will spend several days helping in a local Balinese elementary school. They will also have the chance to learn about the Balinese way of life, important traditions, cuisine and the wildlife that shares this island home. Academic and professional excursions, such as - Service learning at a rice terrace - Service learning at the National Deaf School and local elementary schools, including teaching English - Visit to a local university to meet with the head of the department and students - Walking tours of the Pura Gunung Lebah an Saraswati Temples - Excursion to Elephant Safari Park and the Turtle Conservation and Education Center Accommodation: 12 night stay at a local resort Meals: Special welcome dinner in Ubud and farewell barbeque in Nusa Lembongan as well as breakfast daily Transportation: A private coach bus will be chartered for your group.
