2 TAYLOR S UNIVERSITY Taylors University is one of Malaysia s leading universities. Taylor s School of Computing and IT develops innovation driven computing and IT graduates who are able to shape the future of technology and create a positive impact on society. This course will introduce students to Mobile Applications development from three different perspectives: mobile technology, application development, and user interaction. The course will give an overview of various mobile apps, platforms and technologies; introduce students to programming techniques and development tools; as well as to user interface and user experience design. Malaysia is a rojak* of various cultures, races and languages, and it is the perfect destination for anyone who wishes to experience diversity, true cross-cultural communication and to enhance their Asia intelligence! 3 Program Details Mobile devices are changing the ways we communicate with each other and share information across the world. Mopbile devices provide wide and new opportunities to create fresh experiences for people in their daily lives. Hence the objective of this course is to introduce students to and experience mobile computing. This course will take students through an anatomy of mobile apps, technology and tools for mobile apps development, design, usability, implementation and evaluation of the mobile experience. The course is through project-based learning with opportunities to share their work with each other and the world. By participating in this course, students will be able to: Develop mobile apps with state-of-the-art programming tools Identify mobile programming that is unique from programming for other platforms. 4 Program Dates Monday 18 January Saturday 30 January 2016 Program Cost USD $1,200 Accommodation All students will be accommodated Ruemz Hotel on the award winning Taylor s University Lakeside Campus. Rooms will be twin-share. Travel Grants Applications will be on a competitive basis and ranked on the merit of the application statement. Grants up to $1,000 will be available. OS-HELP Loan Extra financial support can be gained by applying for an OS-Help loan if applicable. This program must be for academic credit. 5 Who can apply This fantastic trip is open to students with: An Engineering or Science Background A current GPA of 1.5 or over An easy going, flexible and independent character with a willingness to take initiative to learn. Willingness to work hard and adapt to different surroundings and work environments Strong team working skills Requirements If you are selected you must: Attend a pre departure session Represent UTS with distinction at all times during the program Submit at least two blog posts during the program to UTS to be used on the UTS:BUiLD Abroad Blog Submit a reflection piece to BUiLD on your return Complete a feedback survey on your return Academic Credit Students successfully completing the NTU Chinese Language & Cultural Studies course may be eligible for academic credit towards their UTS course; 6CP electives only. To receive academic credit, you must submit a concurrent study form to your Faculty Student Centre and have it approved before being participating in this program.
