3 Categories and checkout alternatives CONVENTIONAL A CCO CONVENTIONAL CHECKOUT Staff performs the checkout by scanning, controlling and taking payment. The shopper puts the products on tills or belted checkouts and pays in the conventional way. High level and difficult staff planning to reach the right manning due to service and shopper demands. In the other option, SCO-API integration, the interface to the customer will be handled by the POS application. This gives the opportunity for the retailer to have the same interface towards the customer as in other existing self-service applications run by the POS, creating a common interface towards the customer. This option will also be more cost-efficient over time, since any possible changes in the POS need only to be upgrade in the POS application and not in the SCO application as well. 15
