Nashville Opera s talented Mary Ragland Young Artists create memorable learning experiences which incorporate every discipline, right in your school! Nashvilleopera.org also offers study guides, opera synopses, singer photos and biographies, as well as information on performances and events year round. Our Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund Resource Library of children s books, opera videos, and CDs is available upon request to both you and interested parents. Locks & the Three Singing Bears February 2 March 17, 2016 HCA TriStar Health and Nashville Opera ON TOUR present John Davies GOLDIE B. LOCKS & THE THREE SINGING BEARS, a fun operatic retelling of the classic children s fairy tale. Goldie, a little girl who has a great passion for bugs and spiders, finds herself in a sticky situation when she stumbles upon the little dwelling of the three singing bears. Hungry and lost, she eats from the soup bowls Mama Bear has left on the table to cool. When the three bears return to their lunch and discover a Soup Thief is on the loose, Baby Bear Peek leads a brave detective search and befriends Goldie Locks, our accidental thief, along the way! The ensuing adventure teaches children the true meaning of friendship and the importance of honesty. With popular tunes from Mozart s THE MAGIC FLUTE and catchy numbers by the beloved composer Offenbach, GOLDIE B. LOCKS & THE THREE SINGING BEARS is sure to be a favorite of children everywhere. This 45-minute, audience-interactive production is sung in English. Opera ON TOUR comes directly to your school with sets, costumes, four professional opera singers, and a pianist all members of Nashville Opera s prestigious Mary Ragland Young Artist Program. Participating schools will receive an extensive study guide to prepare for the performance and supplement learning in the classroom. Schools may also request a post-performance Q&A session free of charge. Nashville Opera offers OPERA OUT LOUD to middle and high school choirs throughout Middle Tennessee. This 45-minute introductory program features arias and ensemble pieces which capture the many facets of opera! The program is designed to be presented during a single class period for a large choral or arts audience, preferably in the choral classroom. We come to your school with four professional opera singers and a pianist all members of our Mary Ragland Young Artist Program. There will be an opportunity for the singers to talk about their experiences as artists and answer questions from the student audience. Participating schools will receive an extensive study guide to prepare for the performance and supplement learning in the classroom. Opera 101 Enjoy a fast-paced ride through the history of opera using video and audio clips, fun facts, and exciting backstage stories!
