4 Presenters Matthew Fitzpatrick B.A., Recreation/Fitness, Grad Cert: Bus Admin, Director Momentum (Qld) Pty Ltd Matthew has more than fifteen years experience in the sport and recreation industry both in Queensland and Victoria. He has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation/ Fitness Leadership at Victoria University and a Graduate Certificate of Business Administration at University of New England. Matthew has extensive local and state government experience and has been instrumental in the planning and fundraising activities of several award winning Queensland clubs. He also has extensive sports administration experience having worked with several high profile groups. Matthew is a former lecturer at Victoria University and facilitates sessions on facility development, strategic planning, club development, project management, fundraising and grants. Mark Anderson B.Sc. (Science), MBA, MAICD, Director IQ Research, Director Industry Data Online Mark has completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland as well as a Masters of Business Administration in 1990 at the Queensland University of Technology. He is a Director of IQ Research as well as the Director of Industry Data Online. Mark has extensive business experience especially in the areas of business development, survey design and data analysis, market research and group facilitation. Mark facilitates sessions on sponsorship, strategic planning and marketing. John Vicary B.Ec., Economics, CPA, Director IQ Research John is an Economics graduate (University of Sydney) and a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) who has had over 20 years operational experience in the club industry as a CEO and consultant. He has extensive business experience as a former director and senior administrator of public listed companies and has operated at senior management level in various industries for over three decades. John has significant experience in the areas of business development, feasibility studies, research and financial assessment. John facilitates sessions on governance, administration and financial management. 4

5 Ben Chapman CIA, CID, Dip Irr, Director Water Equipment Technology, Director Project Irrigation Ben Chapman is a Certified Irrigation Auditor and Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) from the Irrigation Association of America. Ben also holds a Diploma in Irrigation and a current Director of Water Equipment Technology and Project Irrigation. Ben has over thirty years of irrigation knowledge and experience, specialising in golf courses, sporting fields and large scale commercial irrigation. Ben has also owned and operated the irrigation contracting company Chapman & Rivett Pty Ltd from 1978 to 2000, with offices located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Singapore. During this time, Ben and his family lived in Singapore for seven years, consulting on golf course and large commercial irrigation projects. Ben has clients both in Australia and overseas and is currently finalising a design and construct water efficiency project in Singapore. Peter Semos Ass Dip Biological Research, Cert Horticulture Managing Director Global Turf Solutions Pty Ltd Peter s knowledge has been gained from over forty years in the sport turf industry. Twenty of these were with Canberra s sports facility provider, 4 years as Arenas Manager (Curator) of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and 20 years in the commercial sports turf design and construction industry. Peter s widespread expertise includes soil selection, soil hydraulics, drainage, turf species selection, irrigation, turf surface design and turf maintenance operations. He has provided technical support for numerous local, national ad international sports and equine projects. In January 2010 Peter formed an Australian based consultancy company specialising in natural surfaces for sport and equine applications, to assist firms and organisations with all aspects of sports and equine turf surface technical requirements. Barbara Banda MYOB Certified Consultant, Registered BAS Agent, Cert IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) Barbara Banda is a MYOB Certified Consultant (since 2005) guaranteeing a high level of knowledge, skills and experience with MYOB products. Barbara is a registered BAS Agent compliant with the new Tax Agent Services Act 2009 and holds Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping). She is familiar with the requirements of sporting clubs and community groups and provides a comprehensive package of bookkeeping services, as well as a wide range of training and consulting services in MYOB bookkeeping software. Barbara Banda is the Director of B Active Bookkeeping and is also a member of a number of professional bookkeeping associations such as the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and the Australian Bookkeepers Network. 5

6 Belinda Vesey-Brown B.Visual Art, Managing Director IQ Brio Group Belinda has a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Queensland College of Art (1997) and has more than 13 years experience in the graphic design/advertising/marketing industry. Previously the Managing Director of RED-i Design, Belinda started the company in 2002 and built it up to a strong team of 13 making it one of the largest design studios in Australia. In 2010, she strategically rebranded her company and now continues as Managing Director of Brio Group, an integrated design and communications agency. Belinda is also a lecturer at Billy Blue graphic design college, and a member of Queensland Leaders. She believes in sharpening her business skills through business coaching and mentoring. It s Belinda s passion to help her clients shape and build their brands through conceptual, strategic branding and marketing solutions through design, technology, advertising and PR.
