2 30th Annual Dallas Rhinoplasty Symposium Who Should Attend This symposium is designed for and limited to the plastic surgeon or otolaryngologist who would benefit from a refresher course in the anatomy and fundamentals of rhinoplasty. The didactic course will provide an update on specific aspects and problems of rhinoplasty. Registration is limited. Purpose and Content The symposium is designed to take the participant from the basic fundamentals of rhinoplasty through the latest refinements and advancements in technique. It will consist of didactic lectures, cadaver dissections, panel discussions, question-and-answer periods, and evening DVD sessions. An anatomic nasal dissection DVD will be provided to all participants registered for the anatomy laboratory. Participants will observe experienced surgeons demonstrate advanced closed and open rhinoplasty techniques via unedited videotaped surgery. Participants may directly engage in questions and answers with the surgeons. Educational Objectives At the end of the anatomy laboratory, the attendees should be able to: n Identify problems in nasal anatomy n Perform basic rhinoplasty maneuvers n Apply basic rhinoplasty techniques to their practice At the end of the didactic course, the attendees should be able to: n Clinically analyze and diagnose common and subtle rhinoplasty problems n Identify the appropriate rhinoplasty techniques for specific rhinoplasty problems n Develop an individual approach to rhinoplasty Registration Refer to registration form for fee schedule. The registration fee includes continental breakfasts, coffee breaks, lunches, and a Saturday evening reception. Anatomy lab participants will receive an anatomic nasal dissection DVD during registration at the hotel. Registration for the anatomy lab is limited and will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Please do not make travel reservations unless your registration has been confirmed. Members of The Rhinoplasty Society will receive 15% off all registration fees. Checks should be made payable to: UT Southwestern / CME and mailed to: UT Southwestern, Office of Continuing Medical Education, 5323 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, TX Instruments to Bring Participants registering for the rhinoplasty anatomy laboratory will be required to bring the following instruments: Surgical gown or scrub suit Straight 2 mm osteotome Mask Neivert curved osteotomies (left and right) Double skin hook (10 or 12 mm) Dorsal rasp 2 single skin hooks Needle holder Cottle or Freer elevator Iris or nasal scissors Mallet Brown-Adson forceps Nasal speculum Penlight Aufricht retractor Angled septal scissors Centimeter ruler and/or calipers 1 30g needles (5) 4-0 nylon sutures (3) 1 1/2 25g needles (5) 2 plastic container lids 10cc Syringe 25g Needle This course is not approved for CME Category 1 Credit.
