1 Launching Place Primary School Issue 40 Thursday 17th December Reflections With only one day left of the 2015 school year and classrooms packed away, it is a great time to reflect on the learning journeys of our students and teachers. Once again, Launching Place Primary School has been a hub of excitement, learning, eagerness and events. When we look back on the year, we reflect on all of the learning opportunities in the classroom with our amazingly dedicated, hard-working and talented staff - but the educational journey is much more than that. Special events such as Japanese day, 100 days of Prep, excursions and incursions, camps, aerobics, country festival, dress up days and sports events all make for a fun, action packed year of learning. Most importantly, it is also the partnership with you, our families and students learning together, sharing the learning journey and celebrating together that makes for a wonderful school. We look forward to all of the opportunities for you to continue to take an active part in your child s learning next year with us. We hope that everyone gets to spend time with friends and family without having to rush around slow down, reflect and enjoy the year that was ready for the New Year to come! Last Day Arrangements A final whole school assembly will be held in the courtyard/ stage area (near the Art room), at 1.00pm on Friday. Students will then be dismissed at We will not be having a lunch break, so parents may wish to pack extra play lunch as we will have our normal recess break at Thanks to our Helpers in 2015 On behalf of the staff we would like to thank the following groups of people for their assistance and dedication to the school throughout the year: Our hardworking Parents and Friends Club Parents who have assisted with reading, sport, P.M.P., canteen, working bees, camps, excursions and the country festival School Council members and sub-committee members All others who have contributed in any way this year. Your support to our school is outstanding and greatly appreciated by us all. 2 Page 2 Canteen Farewell After a 10 year association with LPPS, Frankie has decided to move on. Frankie s dedication to our school has been phenomenal and has included: canteen manager, 7 years on school council (5 as treasurer), newsletter, production, P & F member and everything in-between. We are all going to miss Frankie but wish her all the best for the future. Congratulations Grade 6 Graduates Congratulations to all Grade 6 students on completing their primary school education. They have all made a significant contribution to the school. They have worked well together and it has been a privilege to get to know them over their years of schooling. Most of all it is wonderful to see how they have matured into well prepared students ready to tackle secondary school and whatever the future holds. We would like to acknowledge the input of all the teachers, support staff, and most importantly, the families who have been so influential during the educational journey of these outstanding year 6 students. School Captains/Students Leadership 2015 We would like to make special mention of the wonderful job that our school captains, Mason and Tahlia have done this past year. They have been outstanding leaders and have represented the school on many occasions in a responsible and mature manner. We have been proud of the effort and enthusiasm of our entire Student Leadership group. They have accepted the responsibilities expected of them with maturity and a positive attitude for the benefit of our whole school. Well done and best wishes for continued success in the future! 7 Page 7 Parents and Friends Association During 2015 Parents and Friends from the school community get together over a cuppa, and organize fundraising events for the school and it s community. We meet in order to raise funds to purchase and supply Launching Place Primary with items from class sets of Dictionarys right through to playground equipment. If this seems up your alley why not join; the first meeting will be held in So leave your contact details at the school office or keep an eye on the newsletter for dates and times. It has been a busy year for us on P&F, with organizing raffles, Mother s Day & Father s Day stalls, dress up and crazy hair, and this year The Twilight Country Fair. So thank you to all the Parent/ Guardian helpers who have helped either in front or behind the scenes. Your help is very much appreciated, especially to see the students face s brighten up when new equipment arrive in their classroom or out in the playground. Congratulations to all the winners of the Christmas raffle; we hope you had fun and enjoyed the students singing and dancing on the night of Carols. Fun was had by all who attended, and helped with the purchase of extra tickets for the raffle. We would like to thank all the school community and greater community for all the help, donations and fun and the way you have supported the school throughout the year. So if you get the chance over the holidays why not go and have a cuppa or cool drink, and be proud of the way you have helped us over the year. From all of us on Parents and Friends we would like to wish all families and staff a Merry Christmas and a Happy and not forgetting safe New Year, see you all in 2016 with stories from holiday adventures.
