4 Pathways Diploma into Degree Victoria University s Diploma into Degree program provides a streamlined pathway from a one-year diploma straight into the second year of a Bachelor degree, with full credit for the first year of the degree. For students who want to undertake a degree course but may not be fully prepared perhaps they lack prerequisites, or have been away from study. In the College of Business, we offer a Diploma of Business (Enterprise) with a direct pathway into the Bachelor of Business.
5 Bachelor of Business Common First Year Enables a much stronger focus on the first year student experience. Supports cross-discipline integration in learning and assessment activities. Facilitates the application of strategies to improve student transition and retention. Aligns the learning outcomes of the first year of the Bachelor of Business degree with the learning outcomes of the Diploma of Business (Enterprise). Enables the use of a Diploma of Business as an exit point.
6 Bachelor of Business Student Lifecycle Commencing students: A focus on orientation and integration into VU, providing a structured and clear road map for their program along with structured support and development opportunities to prepare students for success in later years. 18 Entry requirements [ATAR: 70+] Bachelor of Commerce Senior secondary: Successfully completed VCE (or equivalent) with Units 3 and 4 study score of at least 25 in English (any) and 30 in Further Maths or 25 in Methods and Specialist Maths. TAFE/VET: Applicants with a diploma in the field of business or finance (minimum 75% of GPA score or equivalent) will have advanced standing equivalent to four units of study (48 credit points). Mature Age: To qualify for admission to the course, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience.

21 Job Ready Graduates The Centre for Work Integrated Learning makes sure our Business students are ready for employment. The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Program includes: Co-operative Education 1 & 2 (Co-op) - 2 units, over two semesters; - 5 months relevant, paid, full-time employment each semester to engage and challenge the student in their chosen profession, making up a Co-op Year ; Business Integrated Learning (BIL) 1 unit, with students engaged in a range of work-based project, casual or voluntary professional activities of a min. of 150 hrs in a Semester;
22 Job Ready Graduates cont d WIL units are fully credited units including an academic curriculum delivered on-line, requiring students to analyse their workplace and industry, and reflect and report on their career skills development and plans. WIL clients cover the full spectrum of private and public, small and large corporations, locally and internationally, and include: the Western Bulldogs, Crown Hotels, Mushroom Records, the Fair Work Ombudsman s office, Destination Melbourne, RACV Club, Department of Education & Early Childhood Development, Doutta Galla, ANL, NAB and Disney International (Florida) amongst hundreds of others, many exclusive to VU. 23 Engagement with Asia The College of Business has adopted targeted engagement with Asia as a strategic priority. This strategy will be implemented by integrating engagement with Asia as a unifying theme in all undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the College. The common first year concept in the revised Bachelor of Business will facilitate the introduction of this theme in the course.
