1 This Guide has the following sections: Gemba Academy LMS Learner Guide Quick Start Access Learning Profile Manage your profile Communities Engage with others Reports Access your grades Quick Start Access Learning 1. Go to and log in. If you have multiple roles, such as Manager in addition to Learner, select the Learner role from the top right. 2. Click on Courses on the top horizontal menu (generally already the default). 3. Click on My Learning Paths. 4. Click Start next to the School of Lean, School of Six Sigma, Gemba Live!, or a custom Learning Path if that has been created by your manager. February
2 5. You will see a list of courses in that Learning Path. 6. Click on the Register button to register for the course you are interested in. 7. Click on Start to go to the course home page. 8. The course home page has a description and course progress bar. Along the left, after selecting Expand All, are all of the videos, quizzes, and other materials in the course. Content required to complete the course is marked with a red asterisk. 9. To watch a video, select it from the left menu. To play the video, select the arrow in the middle of the screen. You can select from available language captions with the [CC] icon, select HD or SD resolution with the [HD] icon, change the volume or go full screen via those icons on the toolbar. February
3 10. To go back to the list of courses, click on Courses on the top horizontal menu. You ll notice that any courses you have registered for are now also listed, in addition to the option to view Learning Paths. 11. Clicking on Start next to a course you ve already registered for will take you back to the place you left off in that course. Profile 1. You can manage your profile based on settings created by your manager. 2. Click on the Profile link on the top horizontal menu to access your profile. February
4 3. The initial screen show which communities you are part of, by type. 4. Edit Profile: On the right is an About Me box that shows a summary of your profile. You can click on the Edit My Profile to edit. a. Add a photo and description. b. In the Edit Profile you can also set whether you would like to receive a weekly summary from the communities you are a part of. February
5 c. You can add social networks that you are a part of. This will let you link to and display information from your Twitter, etc profiles. d. You can change your password. e. Click Save to save any changes. 5. Media Gallery: You can use the Media Gallery to upload photos, audio files, and videos to share via your profile. Click on the Media Gallery link in the secondary horizontal menu. 6. Friends: This works very similar to Facebook in that when you come across other Gemba Academy LMS users in the communities you can send a friend request. This will allow you to share and link profile information. 7. Blog: This will let you create a personal blog that you can share with the Gemba Academy LMS community. It is not a blog to share outside of the Gemba Academy LMS. 8. Announcements & Web-Conferences: Your manager can send announcements and set up web conferences, which will be displayed in this section. Communities 1. The Gemba Academy LMS provides for communities based on subject, as well as user group. Click on the Communities link on the top horizontal menu. February
6 2. The Site Community includes all LMS users. The Subject Communities are for specific subjects. The User Group Communities are for a user group, such as a company. The User Group Communities are private, and only people from that user group can join. If you are part of a certification program, you will also have a community. 3. Click on Enter The Community to go to the community. February
7 4. Each community has a Forum, Community Events, and Photos. New topics, threads, and comments can be added to the Forum. Events can be added by the community manager, such as the User Group manager. Photos can be added by anyone in the community. 5. You can set whether you want to receive a weekly summary update from each community in your Profile section. Reports 1. A limited number of reports are available to learners. Your manager will have access to more detailed reports. 2. Click on Reports on the top horizontal menu. The Learner Report will be displayed. February
8 3. Click on Print/View Grades to view individual components of that course and the completion and grades. 4. If a certificate is connected to the course, it will be accessible here. February
