3 Events Tactical Support - a new innovation in event security Reducing the cost of events, with no compromises when it comes to safety and security G4S Events launched our Events Tactical Support (ETS) service in direct response to a repeated request from event organisers: to reduce the strain on budgets and combat rising police costs, while still maintaining the highest standards of safety and security. It represents one of our most important innovations when it comes to effectively integrating our work with that of both the police and event organisers, in order to maximise efficiencies for all parties involved. Our ETS personnel are experienced specialists, who work with the police and event organisers to provide support in both planning and delivery for events. This way, the police are able to decide the extent to which they should be involved, while event organisers enjoy both reduced costs and the peace of mind that comes from knowing the event will remain safe and enjoyable for all guests. Every team member receives advanced training in a variety of specialist skills, including: l POLSA (Police Search Adviser) capabilities, for efficient searches of people, vehicles and buildings, as required. l Customer removal protocols, including Maybo accreditation in conflict management and proper recording of incidents, ensuring problems are dealt with swiftly and that events remain enjoyable for all guests. l Drug search capabilities, to keep venues drug-free, whatever the nature of the event. ETS specialists are trained in proper procedures for identifying, seizing and disposing of drugs. l Evidence handling, including scene preservation, bagging and tagging procedures, and taking statements when necessary. This way, the police can conduct their investigations with complete confidence that all evidence has been handled to the highest professional standards. By maintaining open channels of communication between organisers and the police, our ETS team are able to operate with whatever degree of independence is most appropriate for the event, providing us with the flexibility to handle any situation before it is allowed to escalate. A key part of this is having a dedicated team of experts managing the logistics for your event, sourcing the appropriate staff and ensuring extra help is available at short notice, if necessary. At G4S Events, we appreciate this, which is why we employ the most up-to-date crowd management techniques, developed by Professor Keith Still the world s leading crowd scientist. These mathematical techniques and models have set the standard for best practice when it comes to crowd management for decades now. We have been present at such historic events as the 2013 G8 Summit (which Northern Ireland s Chief Constable described as the most peaceful and secure summit in history ) and the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, attended by Angelina Jolie. We have also provided security at the annual conferences for the UK s Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties. From providing security services to ensure your guests are protected at all times, to making sure ticket inspection is smooth and stress-free and that health and safety stewards are available at a moment s notice, we ll work with you from the initial concept stage right up until the big day to ensure everything is perfect. After all, our staff will often be serving as the public face of your venue and the first point of contact for your visitors, so it s essential that they are able to deliver the best possible experience. 8 Our commitment to corporate social responsibility At G4S, we have always had a keen sense of corporate social responsibility. This a big part of our work with events, as we look at every event we help secure as an opportunity to give something back to the community. For example, we have seen some wonderful results from our Street Rugby programme across Scotland, which gave young people from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance to take part in this exciting game for the first time. Not only did they develop their athletic skills, many of those taking part experienced a dramatic boost in their self-confidence and leadership skills qualities that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives. This ethos continues to this day.
