2 Champion Digital Phone User Guide Welcome to the Champion Broadband Digital Phone Calling Plan. This booklet provides a list of features in your calling plan and detailed instructions for each feature. You have the option of managing your phone features using your phone handset or the Champion Phone Web Portal. To avoid errors, please review the operating instructions in this guide before using each phone feature. Thank you for choosing Champion Broadband. 3 Account Settings With the new Champion Phone Web Portal you can manage every aspect of your account. You can manage not only your phone and voic settings but you can also initiate calls from a computer with the Click to Dial feature. All you need is a computer, and a reliable Internet connection. To access the Champion Phone Web Portal, please visit Click on the Login button. For quicker access in the future, you may want to bookmark the following address in your browser: When prompted enter your subscriber telephone number (area code-xxx-xxx) and your Personal Identification Number (PIN). The default PIN will be the last four digits of your Champion phone number. Click Login and you will be taken to the Web Portal Dashboard. See Figure 1 for an illustration of the Champion Phone Web Portal Dashboard. To avoid unauthorized use of your account, change your PIN in the Settings tab and remember to keep it private. Figure 1. Champion Phone Web Portal Dashboard Click through 6 Feature Tabs Click to Dial, Log out, Refresh or Help Each Tab Provides Key Feature Areas Examples: Voic Notifi cation Box Call History Contact Search Area & Results Call Manager Settings Many More! Once on the dashboard, you will fi nd a different tab for each major phone feature area. Click on each tab to bring up each feature set and choose from various options. For detailed instructions on how to use your Champion Phone Web Portal, click on the? (located in upper right corner of each feature tab). 2
4 Features and User Instructions Anonymous Call Rejection This service allows you to reject anonymous callers (with no Caller ID). Please keep in mind that international calls may be blocked as well. To avoid this from happening be sure to have this service deactivated when you are expecting international calls. To enable service, press *77, listen for the voice confi rmation. To disable, press *87, listen for the voice confi rmation. Automatic Callback Call the last person you called automatically until it connects. Your phone will ring you back when the connection becomes available. To enable service, press *66, listen for the number, then to return the call press 1. To deactivate, press *86. To cancel all outstanding Automatic Recall attempts, press *89. Automatic Recall (Call Return) When you miss a call, this service allows you to call back the most recent incoming call. To enable service, press *69, listen for the number, then to return the call press 1. To cancel service, simply hang up. Caller ID This service allows your name and number to be displayed to those receiving your call. To enable service, press *82. To disable, press *67. Caller ID with Name This service displays the calling number and/or the calling name of a second incoming call. To enable service, press *65. To disable service, press *85. Call Forwarding This service allows you to forward your calls in a variety of ways. Choose from the following: Unconditional Call Forwarding To forward your calls to a specifi c number. To enable service, press *72, listen for the stutter tone, then enter a 10 digit phone number and wait for a stutter confi rmation tone, then hang up. To disable, press *73, listen for the short tone, then hang up. To confi rm each procedure, call your number to check the destination of the call. You may also go to your Champion Phone Web Portal and review your setting on the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it to your Dashboard from the Add Services tab. For detailed instructions on how to use this service, click on the? (located in upper right corner). Busy Call Forwarding To forward your calls to a specifi c number when the phone is in use. To confi gure this service, log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it To enable this service via the handset, press *90. A short tone confi rms your selection. To disable, press *91. A short tone confi rms your selection. Selective Call Forwarding Use this service to store numbers you will forward calls frequently to, and assigns friendly names. Once you have done this you can select from named destinations instead of typing in telephone numbers each time you confi gure your service. To confi gure this service, log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it To enable service, press *63. To disable, press *83. 3
5 Call Log To review your list of all calls, please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Messages and Calls tab. For additional information and instructions for this service, click on the? (located in upper right corner). Call Waiting This service will alert you of an incoming call with an audible tone when you are on a call and allows you to switch from the current call to the incoming call. To activate service during a call, press fl ash-hook when you hear the tone to swap between the calls. Please keep in mind that the system will ring you if you hang up while a call is still on hold. To disable service before or during a call, press *70. To cancel service during an active call when Three-Way Calling is not activated, fl ash-hook and press *70 during the call. Click to Dial This service allows you to initiate calls using the Click to Dial pad on the Champion Phone Web Portal. Once on the Click to Dial pad, you can initiate a call and transfer it to your normal subscriber line or transfer the call to a different phone line (such as when you are away traveling, but working from a fi xed location). When using Click to Dial, your calls will appear to the recipient as if they were made from your Champion subscriber line. DO NOT use Click to Dial service to dial 911** To use Click to Dial service, please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal. Once on the web portal dashboard click on or button (located in top center area) to open the Click to Dial popup and begin dialing a phone number. For confi guration setting and additional detailed instructions, please click on? (located in upper right corner). ** Important: Click to Dial calls will appear to the recipient as if they were made from your normal subscriber line. Therefore, if you make a 911 call using remote Click to Dial, the emergency operator will be unaware that you are not present at that location. As a result, emergency services may be dispatched to an incorrect location, and not where you are actually located. You are strongly advised not to make emergency calls using the remote Click to Dial service. Contact List This service allows you to add and import all of your contacts to your Champion Phone Web Portal. To confi gure your Contact List or import contacts, log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Contacts tab. If this service is not available, you can add it to your Dashboard from the Add Services tab. For additional instructions, including how to import your contact list, click on the? (located in upper right corner). Do Not Disturb This service allows calls to go directly to your voic box without ringing your phone line. Outgoing calls can still be made as normal. To confi gure this service, please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it To enable service, press *78. To disable, press *79. E-911 Local Emergency Authority Service. With Enhanced 911 (E-911), dial 911 just as you would with any other phone service. Should an emergency arise and you need to contact your local authorities, the emergency center will have your registered phone number and address show up on their display to dispatch the nearest emergency services to your location. Follow Me This service will allow you to forward calls to your number to multiple other locations (phone numbers). To confi gure this service, please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it 4
6 Hunting This is for business lines only. Hunting is a feature offered to business customers with two or more lines. When an incoming call is generated to a line that is busy, the call will roll over to the next number in the hunt group. This feature provides maximum utilization of lines to handle incoming calls and prevent unnecessary busy signals. To set up this service, please contact your Champion Business representative. Priority Call This service allows you to enable specifi c numbers to ring with a distinctive ring. To confi gure this service, please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it To enable service, press *61. To disable, press *81. Reminder Calls This service allows you to set up to 10 reminder calls. With this service you will receive a call announcing, This is your reminder call To confi gure and manage your list of callers, please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it Selective Call Rejection This service will allow you to block any caller (including anonymous calls) from calling again. Up to 10 numbers can be rejected. To enable service, press *60 after the last call you wish to reject from calling in the future. To disable service, press *80. To confi gure and manage your list of callers, please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Call Manager tab. If this service is not available, you can add it Speed Calling This service, also known as speed dialing, allows you to use one-digit (2-9) or two-digit (20-49) numbers to act as shortcut codes for selected phone numbers. You may wish to make a note on your handset or dialing pad of each confi guration as a reminder for future use. Confi gure via Handset: To confi gure one-digit speed dialing, press *74, wait one second then input the one-digit number (2 thru 9), then wait another second and input the ten digit phone number (1-area code-xxx-xxxx). To confi gure two-digit speed dialing, press *75, wait one second then input the two-digit number (20 thru 49) then wait another second then input the ten digit phone number (1-area code-xxx-xxxx). Confi gure via your Champion Phone Web Portal: Please log on to your Champion Phone Web Portal and go to the Contacts tab. If this service is not available, you can add it to your Dashboard from the Add Services tab. For detailed instructions on how to use this service, click on the? (located in upper right corner). To use the Speed Calling service, Dial the shortcut code and then enter # or wait four seconds. Three-Way Calling This service allows you to call another party during an existing call and add this party to the call, creating a three-way conversation. To add a third party to an active call, press fl ash-hook and then dial the third party s number. If the third party answers, press fl ash-hook again to add the new call to the original call, thereby connecting all three parties. If the third party does not answer or their line is busy, press fl ash-hook twice to rejoin the original call. If you hang up, the system will call you back reminding you that the original call is still on hold. You can rejoin the call by simply picking up the handset. 5
7 Voic Service To access your voic box and manage your voic messages via the handset, please follow the instructions below to set up your Personal Identifi cation Number (PIN). We recommend that you review the instructions thoroughly before attempting to set up your PIN. Voic Box Access and Personal Identification Number (PIN) Set-Up To access your voic box and set up your PIN, press *98, then wait for voice prompts. When prompted, enter the temporary PIN. The default PIN is the last four digits of your phone number. Immediately after the fi rst login, please change your PIN number to another of your personal choice. (0000 is not a valid number). An announcement confi rms the new four-digit PIN when the set-up is complete. Please remember your new PIN to access and manage your voic box and settings in the future. To avoid unauthorized access be sure to change this code periodically and remember to keep it private. To reset a lost pin, please call Champion Customer Service at Voic Box Access from a Remote Location: Arcadia residents, dial , then enter your PIN when prompted. Monrovia residents, dial , then enter your PIN when prompted.
