Szymczak REPORT OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES Volume 33, Number 9 May 13, 2014 The Klein Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 12, 2014, and highlights follow: HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ACTION: Ms. Nicole Patin, associate principal at Klein High School, introduced the two top-ranked senior students at Klein: valedictorian Jack Guo and salutatorian Karen Yang. Ms. Pat Crittendon, principal at Klein Forest High School, introduced the two topranked senior students at Klein Forest: valedictorian Numan Ahmad and salutatorian Kevin Tran. Dr. Brian Greeney, principal at Klein Oak High School, introduced the two topranked senior students at Klein Oak: valedictorian Kimberly Lai and salutatorian Danielle Hilborn. Mr. Randy Kirk, principal at Klein Collins High School, introduced the two topranked senior students at Klein Collins: valedictorian Isabel Alison and salutatorian Tristan Watson. The following teachers were recognized for outstanding talents and contributions:

2 Mr. Derek Koonts, Klein High School, was introduced by Mr. Larry Whitehead, principal at Klein High School. Mr. Paul Carampatan, Klein Forest High School, was introduced by Ms. Pat Crittendon, principal at Klein Forest High School. Ms. Susan Parent, Klein Oak High School, was introduced by Ms. Heather Cook, associate principal at Klein Oak High School. Mr. Clay Huggins, Klein Collins High School, was introduced by Mr. Steve Matheson, associate principal at Klein Collins High School. Ms. Tonya Little, controller, introduced Mr. Delwynn Sherrill and Ms. Carlene Plummer of Bank of America Texas, who presented the Texas public sector rebate check in the amount of $79, Mr. Curt Drouillard, associate superintendent for human resource services, introduced Mr. Jonathan Bain, who was promoted to assistant principal at Mueller Elementary School. Ms. Laurie Combe, health services coordinator, and Ms. Andrea Comer, principal at Strack Intermediate School, presented an ambassador award to Ms. Lisa Elizabeth Pali, the school nurse at Strack Intermediate, who was announced as one of Houston s Top 100 Nurses. Mr. Greg Jones, principal at Eiland Elementary, was presented the Mirabeau B. Lamar Award by the Masonic Lodge #1434 which honors an educator who exemplifies the ideals of teaching. Ms. Judy Rimato, associate superintendent for communications and planning, on behalf of the Klein Education Foundation announced the spring 2014 grant winners, Grace England Early Childhood & Pre-K Center, McDougle Elementary School and Bernshausen Elementary School, and presented a check to the district in the amount of $29,000. Dr. Susan Borg, associate superintendent for instruction and student services, introduced Mr. Adam Hile, director of curriculum and instruction, and Ms. Ann Dristas, principal at the Grace England Early Childhood & Pre-K Center, who provided an instructional report on the program at the Grace England Center. Mr. Thomas Petrek, associate superintendent for financial services, presented an update on the budget. Mr. Robert Robertson, associate superintendent for facilities and school services, introduced his team, Mr. August Wunderlich, Mr. Willie Huggins, Mr. Steve Williams and Mr. Chad Corbitt. Mr. Robertson reported on the Benchmark4Excellence program, noting the district scored a 10 for transportation safety.

Clay Huggins, Klein Collins High School, was introduced by Mr. Steve Matheson, associate principal at Klein Collins High School. Ms. Tonya Little, controller, introduced Mr. Delwynn Sherrill and Ms.
