1 REQUESTS FOR TYPE III EMERGENCY AUTHORIZATIONS July 2002 Colorado Law authorizes school districts to employ a person to teach or to perform services as a principal, administrator, or special services provider, at a particular grade level or in a special subject or service area when, in the judgment of the State Board of Education, an emergency exists due to a demonstrated shortage of licensed teachers, principals, administrators, or special services providers, whichever is appropriate, with appropriate endorsements and such action is essential to the preservation of good instructional programs in the public schools and to the educational well-being of the children enrolled therein. Except as otherwise provided in this paragraph (c), a Type III Emergency Authorization shall be valid for a period of one school year and may be renewed. A Type III Emergency Authorization for a person to teach shall not be renewed unless the State Board of education determines that the establishment of an Alternative Teacher Program by the Board of Education is not a practical solution to such demonstrated shortage. School district or private organization requests for Type III Authorizations-Emergency Initial Requests Adams County School District 14 Alexa Garrido, Elementary Education Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Garrido has a B.A. in Behavioral Science and History. She is in the process of completing the requirements for a Provisional Teaching license. Adams County School District 50 Karen Benner, Elementary Education Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Benner has a B.A. in Psychology and Special Education. She has an expired Temporary Teaching authorization endorsed in Elementary Education and Special Education Moderate Needs. Brian Gay, Mathematics Candidate's Qualifications: Mr. Gay has a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics. He has an expired Temporary Teaching authorization in Mathematics. Adams/Arapahoe School District Rebecca Eller, Elementary Education Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Eller has a B.S. in Sociology and Elementary Education. She has an expired Temporary Teaching authorization endorsed in Elementary Education. She will complete the Place content assessment this year. Deborah Neal, School Nurse Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Neal has a B.S.N. in Nursing and she is completing the School Nurse program at Metropolitan State College.

Cherry Creek School District Amy Folk, Speech Language Pathologist Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Folk has a B.A. in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. She is currently attending the University of Northern Colorado in the Speech Language Pathology program. Consolidated School District C-1 (Custer County) Betty Heising, Special Education-Moderate Needs Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Heising has a M.A. in Computer Education. Denver School District Mariana Eyster, School Library Media Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Eyster has a B.S. in Business. She will enroll in an Education program this fall. Ron Henry, Science Candidate's Qualifications: Mr. Henry has a B.S. and a M.S. in Chemistry. He will enroll in the Teacher-in-Residence program next year. Stacy Murphy, Special Education-Moderate Needs Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Murphy has a B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies. She will enroll in an Education program this fall. Meri Penaherrera, Physical Education Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Penaherrera has a B.A. in Physical Education. She has an expired Temporary Teaching authorization endorsed in Physical Education. She will complete the Place content assessment this year. Carlos Reyes, Bilingual Education Candidate's Qualifications: Mr. Reyes has a B.A. in Production of Mass Media. Barbara Ricketts, Bilingual Education Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Ricketts has a B.A. in Sociology and Spanish. She is in the process of applying for the Provisional Teaching license. East Otero School District R-1 Carolin M. Cassandra Slider, Special Education- Moderate Needs Candidate's Qualifications: Ms. Slider has experience working with the emotional and behavioral challenge students.
